Classic takeout still holds the test of time. No foo-foo upscale new wave Chinese here. Old school Chinese-American food made well and quickly. It's been a hot minute since I took out from Ho Ho. Use to go all the time but I moved and it wasn't as convenient. I happen to be in the area during lunch and went in to order. Lunch specials available. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken with fried rice and egg roll, soup or canned soda. An eggroll is quintessential side for Chinese food so that's a no brainer for me. Lots of duck sauce, hot mustard and I'm good to go. Kung Pao was fresh and nice chunks of chicken. It had minimal heat so if your expecting hot Kung Pao you need to tell them otherwise just hit it up with their packets of hot sauce like I did. The fried rice was one of the better I've had in a long time. Nice chunks of pork and pieces of scrambled egg, rice color was deep too. Not overdone with soy but you could at least see that they added it. Egg roll was fried to a crispy crunch with no grease on the skin. Pleasure to crack open and eat. My meal took about 10 minutes to prepare from ordering walking out with meal in hand. There were other people waiting who had ordered so considering they were in front of me I was pleased with ordering result. They take cash or credit card but there is a minor upcharge for using cc. Plenty of street parking or free lot next down a few stores. read more

I ordered 2 orders of small sweet and sour chicken for the kids. Mind you I could have ordered a large order for cheaper but I wanted to avoid all problems so I ordered 2 small orders. When the food comes I have 1 large sauce. I called them to explain the problem and they told me I have to ask them for 2 sauces! This is insane because I ordered 2 small orders so I would expect 2 small sauces. They continued to blame me and when I asked for a refund and told them they could come get their food they told me I'd have to wait a half hour for my small sauce which basically means my food would be cold by then. The fact they could not understand that 2 small orders would come with 2 small sauces is pure insanity. I don't remember calling up asking for 2 small chicken orders with one large sauce. I called again asking for a refund and they still send someone with a small sauce. Because they were trying to save .05 cents for a container my whole night was ruined. The fried rice for one is decent compared to the golden fountain Chinese restaurant which is nearby. As I was inquiring the cost of a particular dish, she stated a price that was higher than on the menu...mind you, prices of food has gone up and it may not have reflected the price of the menu. However I ordered the dish and the 1st words that came out of her mouth was "pay 1st". Since changing owners, I will not have food from there again. I used to only eat Chinese food from here because it was the best. Would even drive from Harrison NY just to have good Chinese food until we found out they are filled with roaches. My mother had two dead Roaches in her food and some in the bag her food was in. A few years later I said I'd give them another shot, and as soon as I got in there I got out. The place got so dirty and couldn't even do it. The food is good but I have a problem with the older woman who answers the phone to take your order. She is nice, however, she tries to upsell you on more food which is understandable, however, when you say no thank you and stick to your order she will either add an egg roll to it that you didnt order or will send a large soup instead of the small that you ordered - and you are charged for all of it. I spoke to the local Westchester Better Business Bureau and they plan on making a few orders here and there to see how this scam is working. The younger ones who answer the phone their do not do this. The older woman also likes to reference your previous orders and tries to get you to order more than you want. It is extremely uncomfortable when on the phone with her. If she gets caught by the Westchester BBB they will be fined heavily and shut down. These are not mistakes - they are intentional upsells and add ons that you never agreed to. Sometimes I wonder why I cook 5 nights a week - ordering take out from Ho Ho restaurant gave me the answer. I ordered 2 entrees and 2 appetizers; my total came out to $40 - a little high for ordering Chinese food. There was one consistent theme throughout the meal, Grease! Starting with their house special chicken, salty and greasy. Pork Lo Mein, greasy and flavorless. Scallion pancakes? You guessed it, greasy. I'm not expecting Chinese take out to be healthy - but you need to let food rest once taken out of the fryer. When you put it directly into the container all it does is soak up all the excess grease that wasn't allowed to properly drain off of it. Steamed dumplings were a strange bright white, and way too thick. The meat inside lacked flavor. On a positive note, their Schezwan shrimp contained a ton of crisp fresh vegetables. I really hate writing bad reviews, but I work hard for my money like everyone else. There's no reason for me to waste money on mediocre food like this; There are waaayyy too many other good Chinese restaurants in the area. Far better options for the same type of food within a few blocks of here. Also the 5 star reviews are extremely fishy and read like advertisements. This is a generic NY Chinese spot. A bit pricier because they cater to the Bronxville community. I totally get it, why not get it when you can? The food is good. Not amazing, not just okay... it's good. Right in the middle. People made comments about their food being greasy, it's Chinese food. Unless you haven't been in NY very long or haven't had a lot of the Chinese food here, it's gonna be a little greasy. It's not super greasy at all. (At least not the things I've ordered) I'd even say less greasy than some other food I've ordered at other places. I think they mean No No Chinese Kitchen. Please note: this is a 0 star review not a 1 star. How long does it take to warm up food that was probably made yesterday and deliver it less than 5 minutes away? Oh I can tell you the answer to that! An hour and a half!! WTF No No!!! How about when customers call to order, you let them know that delivery will take an hour and a half so they have the option to either say "No thanks" or "I will come get it" instead of making them call and inquire into the whereabouts of their food. Also, maybe don't lie to customers and tell them that their food won't be cold when it finally arrives because guess what, it's cold. So now what we have is cold, soggy chicken wings. The customer is always right? Not at Ho Ho. I called and placed an order for delivery and what came is not what I ordered. I ordered chicken and broccoli steamed with no sauce and what came was chicken with broccoli in brown sauce. I called back to tell them and the manager, Tim or Jin, basically called me a liar. Now, I've been ordering from this place for over 20 years but obviously they don't care about their customers. Why would I lie after being a customer for over 20 years? Even if I did (which I didn't), isn't the customer always right? I'm disgusted at how I was treated and ask everyone to boycott Ho Ho. There are other chinese restaurants out there who will now get my business. Ho Ho never will again. And the manager should be fired or at least stay behind the scenes and not answer the phone.
