Been coming here for quite some time. It's a nice, little spot tucked in a small strip mall in Tuckahoe. This place has the usual selection...but very good Chinese food. I always enjoy the sesame chicken, egg rolls and wonton soup. It's a always been fresh and always tasted good. The service has always been fine. They are friendly people and they always throw in plenty of fortune cookies and plenty of mustard/duck sauce with every order. I'm not sure what people are expecting when they go to a neighborhood Chinese restaraunt. If you are expecting haute cuisine, than you should really go elsewhere and curb your expectations. The ambiance has improved from my last visit. They've decided to clean up the sit down area which was honestly not the most clean, until now. The Chicken Lo Mein was done perfectly well. The Ribs were also cooked to perfection. Also the egg rolls were sizeable and filled. Service was also prompt and efficient. This is a really great neighborhood takeout spot. The food is always freshly-made and very well-executed. It's perfect comfort food. They're open until 11 (late for this area), the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. My favorite is the fried wontons. They're really good cold, so I try to save them for breakfast (of course they are also delicious hot, so I don't always succeed!). My other favorite is the special fried rice, which has little pork pieces, chicken and shrimp. The soups are really good too (I recommend wonton soup & hot and sour). I usually stick to my favorites just because I like them so much, but every time I branch out on the menu I'm very happy with what I order. They are extremely fast and the food is equally fresh regardless of what time of day you order, which I appreciate since I usually order late. The lunch specials are a great deal too. read more

Nothing was particularly bad, but it was just your average Chinese restaurant. The good: I really enjoyed the sesame chicken and general tso's chicken. It just hit the spot when I was craving it. I got free chicken because I spent more than $35 which was a nice add-on. The average: the fried rice did not really taste like fried rice that I typically get. It didn't have that "fried rice" flavor. It was more yellow-colored rice than brown-colored. Again, this wasn't bad, just average. Overall I like to support local restaurants. If I'm craving sesame chicken again I'll come here and maybe try an egg roll or spring roll. But if I want a more flavorful and wholesome Chinese dinner meal, I might look elsewhere. read more

Usually go for the chicken wings which has been consistently good. This last time I ordered wings ( which tasted off ) and I got shrimp with broccoli and chicken fried rice ..... the chicken fried rice was the worst thing I put in my mouth in a long time. We come to New York annually and as my wife is from Tuckahoe we are legally obligated by law to eat here at least once each time we come to New York, specifically to satisfy a fried won ton craving for her. This time, we ordered their fried won tons, and they were okay. It's really a New York thing, it's not the same as the won tons out west. Orange chicken--standard. General Tso's chicken--standard. I think that it's much too sweet though. White rice--actually surprisingly good. Fried rice, bland. Beef with broccoli--broccoli was mushier than I like, beef was yuck. Won ton soup--bland. Dumplings were not good. Fried spring rolls--didn't look good. Anyway, three stars for an average food. We were told on the phone it'd be 10 minutes but total time was about 20 minutes, and there was no crowd. Knocked down a star for that, and for inconsistency of experience. If you're in the area and need standard Chinese fare, go for it. Not my favorite though. read more

Went to get egg roll and soup. The lady at the front (taking money) starts to cook. I thought nothing of it. Just started watching. I was wondering what was she dipping into the pot of boiling water. They always have boiling water there. I've seen them use it to clean the other pots. Well she Dipped my noodle in there !! Then proceeds to use her hand to put the green onions in !!! Are you serious right now !! I said I'll just take the egg roll. I'm saying out loud "you just used your hands. She didn't even look at me. She knew what she did. And her hands were wet and nasty. Not bad Chinese. Very American in taste yet it has a hint of Chinese in it. This place is your typical American Chinese take out spot. The staff were very nice. I ate at Foo Chow. It was very clean from what I remember. What I enjoyed most was hearing the chefs speaking Chinese. It reminded me of my time studying, teaching and living in China. Not sure if that is a reason to come here all in all I found the experience to be quite fine. If you want change from your usual Chinese take our try this place. First Chinatown visit and we ate lunch at Foo Chow. Only after we were seated did we realize that the restaurant was in the film "Rush Hour". We had Chicken with Cashew Nuts and Broccoli Chicken. Both came with Egg Drop Soup. The soup was mild and a little bland but I was surprised by the amount of chicken and corn kernels in it. Both chicken dishes were excellent and tasted very fresh - especially the vegetables. The waiter we had was very good and spoke good English. A table across from us had some locals and I could recognize Moo Shu Chicken withe crepes. It looked very good. I recommend this restaurant. read more

I came here one night and ordered steamed pork dumplings. The dough was too thick and gummy. Very little filling. It was around 5 dollars for 6 dumplings. When I was done, I couldn't tell if I was full or just sick of eating those terrible dumplings. I was hungry for much better food 20 minutes later. read more

The place has been around for 40 years, does not deliver and only takes cash - that's got to tell you something! Not too many places can even last 5 years. Food is great. It's always flavorful and served piping hot. I've never had a bad dish whether it's a steamed one from the diet menu or any of their traditional dishes. Beef Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice is my weakness. Wonton and Egg Drop soup are both really good too. The place may not look so inviting and the owners aren't very social but it's clean and the ingredients always taste really fresh, even the shrimp. I highly recommended Foo Chow. read more
