Nice salad buffet but its kept too cold, and so every thing tastes the same. Still there's a good variety. This place is pricey though, you could get a tastier salad for less at Chopt or Sweetgreen. Happy Yelping!
This place has to be one of my favorites to frequent. They have a fantastic selection of cold foods and antipasti, and their hot foods are great. The highlights of coming here, however, are their juices and sandwiches. Their options for sandwiches are good, but the real gold is the customization: whatever you can think of putting on your sandwich, you can (as long as they have it there, of course), which is perfect for someone that loves to combine specific flavors into their meal, like myself. The juices are all freshly made at their station-a bit pricey per bottle, but well worth it when you give them a taste. Their service is quick and helpful, and very accommodating to most things you'll want from here. All in all, the best way to put it is this: even as I write this review, I'm already thinking about going back!
First off, be warned, this place is expensive. Almost everything is by the pound and it's not cheap. For $35 I was able to get a chopped salad, a small soup, a green juice, and a very moderate serving of food (filled me and I have a very small appetite). With the said. The food is delicious. So much variety that you will have trouble choosing what to get..... and that's how they get you. The containers they provide are only the large circle ones. This just screams and begs for you to fill it. Which remember, you pay by the pound. The fish soup.... Amazing. The ginger carrot butternut squash soup.... Also top notch. The salad bar, fully stocked. All the toppings you can think of and dressing to boot. Also a juice bar. They have lots of juices already made but you can get something fresh as well. Oh and major points, they have so many vegetables and vegan options, so no one is left out. They also have a deli and desserts, but I've never tried either so I cannot speak on them. The place is clean and the workers helpful. There's only a small indoor seating area so it can fill up. There's a few tables outside too. Oh and parking. Hahaha. It's not easy to find.
Just as everyone has touched upon, it's a veritable buffet of everything you could think of. Salad bar for kings and queens. Hot buffet filled with fried everything. Assorted hot meats, pork -chicken- fish beef etc. Juice bar. Hot soups. Cold salad bar with every imaginable topping. Price seems fair and okay for what you get. And if you are thinking you need variety, we'll you've come to the right place. One size metallic plates with plastic tops for carry out. Haven't tried the juice bar but it seems legit. Try it.
I can't believe I've driven by this awesome buffet style food paradise for years without stopping. Smh. The amount of fresh prepared food is impressive! Chances are they'll satisfy whatever you're in the mood for. The selection is vast! Hot, fresh and delicious! You'll want to try everything but be easy, its by the pound and it adds up quickly. The jerk chicken/fish is better than some spots in the Bronx! Great heat! I really like the cabbage slaws and vegetables medleys. They are seasoned perfectly with great chew. My average plate is around $20 and I try and get a few new things to taste. I have yet to find something I didn't like. I've even been here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. This place is awesome, the workers are friendly and the place is super clean! 5 noms!
Now this is what you call every meal in one spot .... I'm so elated to be writing a review on this spot ! Please everyone get your tail feathers over there and splurge on everything in sight like I did lol (minus the pork) sorry kiddos , can't do ! But everything else ....GO GET IT the staff and they have a nice area to sit and enjoy the view ! Enjoy all
I stop by here often for breakfast or when they have corned beef and cabbage, it's so good! They also have a really good salad bar ( love the chicken salad). You can also have a salad made, sort of a create your own. I hear that the soup is also really good, there was a line for it this morning. Oh, let me not forget the sandwiches, yep they do that too. I've only had the premade ones which are good but you can also have them make your sandwich to your liking. The one thing I must tell you is the price for the food is by weight so go easy or else :-)

I promise the picture does not do this place justice lol!! Soooo many food options. Everything looked fresh! First time here so I wanted to try a little of everything. And when I say everything was delicious, everything. Way too many dishes to name - I promise you'll be able to find something you're in the mood for. And the fresh juices is the cherry on top! They also have a huge section for desserts of course! Also just want to add that I loved how they have the disposable gloves upon entrance! Great way to minimize the spread of germs. read more

Im still exploring all my options through this place as the selection is extensive. My first impression walking in was that the cold bar looked great. Everything was fresh and looked appetizing. There is a station right when you enter with gloves for you to wear while you use the utensils to select your pickings from the hot and cold bar. The cold food was great, I really enjoyed the fresh mozzarella and the guacamole. The hot food was a bit overwhelming with all the different options. The chili was good. The fresh sautéed spinach was also very good. The meat options felt lack luster. They were mostly overcooked and didnt do anything for me. The sauces on the proteins were all tasty-- I'd prefer the vegetables and simple proteins which you can definitely find. You can find almost anything in this place! I am really interested in ordering a custom sandwich or flatbread at one of the counters I saw. Checking out, I thought it was alittle expensive for what I got BUT I think you can make it cheaper once you become experienced in knowing what you like/want. Im looking forward to changing my stars at a later visit but for now this is what I rate them. read more

This place is the best! Huge selection on everything from foods like baked and fried fish to brisket to select it yourself salad area, to high-end sandwich deli section, smoothie and coffee bar and bakery. Virtually whatever you desire you can have. AND...everything is done really well and taste excellent. Most food is sold by the pound, you eat out of those tin to-go containers and there's not a ton of seating, but you're going there for the food and selection, not the ambiance. I ate a garbanzo bean salad and a corn salad from the cold food section. I also got some cooked collard greens and carrots from the hot veggie section, and rounded that out with a few different proteins from the hot section, including pork sausage in red sauce, some fried and grilled fish, and some pernil. All delish. THEN, I had a tres leches cake for dessert--so good! Go and you'll surely be back for more! read more

Came here for lunch with a friend. I am always sceptical when it comes to buffet style food but so many people I know have frequented the restaurant I had to give it a try. I am the type of person to take very small amount no more that 2 bites so I can determine if I like the flavor or not. I tried about 5 options and was shocked when I was told at register my food was $51 with my drink. I asked the cashier why she said it's not recommended to put gravy or salad dressing on food. Lesson learned. Food was average definitely not worth the price but it was fine. read more

I've always loved grabbing a bite from Gourmet Express. I'm surprised that I've never written a review for them. This would be our go-to for breakfast sandwiches before a long drive. They have some really good wraps and you get to add whatever you'd like because they're made fresh to order. The size has gotten a little smaller than I remember but they still taste great and I can nerve eat a whole one anyway. They have nice salads as well. You pick the leaf and your own choice of add-ins including egg, cheeses, veggies, proteins, etc. Their pizzas are good. They'll heat up slices for you with extra cheese so it's extra gooey. Now they have cold brew coffee now which is modestly priced compared to other places. They have a well-stocked salad bar with everything you need to make a salad as well as chicken salads, pastas salads, egg salads and any accoutrements to bring out that flavour. Their desserts are really good, too. You can tell they're made fresh and don't stay on the shelves for long. They also have a hot food bar with chicken, fish, veggies and some great sides. They are so busy all day with people stopping by for breakfast, during lunch breaks and for dinner before heading home, that the food turnover ensures you a fresh meal any time you come in. I've only recently tried their juice bar and had mixed experiences. I've noticed that a lot of the time they don't have some of the ingredients for their juices but allow you to supplement the items with other you may prefer. I always add in wheat grass shots and chia and for the most part, they've tasted good. I'm not too keen on the wait for a juice but I'm patient and usually satisfied. This is the only reason I've docked them a start. They need to work on the efficiency of the juice bar area, make sure it's well stocked and ensure that the fruits and veggies that are going bad are disposed of (I found a bunch of moldy fruit on my last visit and pointed it out to the staff). They have plenty of space to eat and enjoy your food with a few outdoor tables available for fair weather days. I would have to say that even with the addition of Fairway Market across the street, Gourmet Express is a better option because their food is much fresher, tastes better and supports small business. This place is amazing! Relaxed atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff and most importantly - delicious food! Great variety, fresh selection with a homemade feel. Very similar to whole foods buffet, only less expensive and more like a family's recipe. Just left and I am already looking forward to going back! read more

Everything I've eaten here has been delicious. The variety of foods make this a one stop shop wonderland of food. They have Salad bar with cold and hot choices and a deli area. They sell prepackaged beverages, fresh juices, tea and coffee options as well. I highly recommend this place. read more
I'm in the Bronx for a residency program interview at the Jacobi and Montefiore Medical Center and was looking for a healthy place to eat. I came across Gourmet Express and decided to give it a try. I found parking easily on the side of the building next to the restaurant. I walked in and was confused at first how the restaurant worked. It's a buffet style take out or dine in. You grab a container and then put whatever you'd like to eat into the container. You pay by weight. They had a great selection for the salad bar, many healthy cooked vegetables, and lots of hot food with flavorful meats & rice. They also make fresh juices ready to drink! This would be my go-to spot if I worked at the medical center next year. read more

I had to come on Yelp just to write this review. This place is AMAZING. As a plant based eater, there are SO MANY OPTIONS! And not just your boring vegan food, I mean REAL TASTY, SEASONED food. I've been telling everyone about this place. Even if you arent vegan or vegetarian, still sooo many good healthy options. This is just the place we've needed in this neighborhood. I was getting so tired or chipotle! I will never buy food to go from anywhere else. Love this place, I come here everyday! read more
