I've been going to this place for about 10 years the food is outstanding, there is no place you can go where you would get this kind of food. You can eat in or take out, each time you fix your plate you find that there is something else that you would like to add too your plate. I like this place a lot. We had a mango smoothie, the mac and cheese, and fig bars. Everything was good. We thought the mac and cheese could had used a little bit more salt but no biggie. The smoothie and fig bars were on point. The people that work there are nice and helpful, the quarters are clean, and the spread of food to choose from is impressive. Food tastes great and is good for you. I love the sea bass, they make about 4 different varieties. I am not usually a buffet fan but this one is clean and well maintained, food is not just sitting there drying out. One of my favorite places to eat while i'm in NY. My boyfriend comes here about everyday just to get their tea in the morning. They make fresh ginger tea and he loves it. The food is buffet style but its good food. They have sooo much selection to choose and everything looks tasty. Get there early or the good stuff will be gone. You almost don't expect to find a restaurant here. But it's a fine restaurant indeed. You can park in front of Gourmet Express, or you can park in the gas station in spaces reserved for the restaurant. Look for the signs. It's a huge, delightful buffet that charges by the pound. There is salad, there is the main course area, and an island reserved for vegetarian food. There's some nice leafy vegetables in the vegetarian section including delicious tofu. But vegetarians should not ignore the main course area, as they also have meatless options there, but they mainly consist of side dishes such as plantains. The quality of food here is excellent. It's better than Fairway which is across the street. I would go so far as to say it's better than Whole Foods (although you reasonably expect whole foods to be prepared with organic ingredients, there's no indication that Gourmet Express uses such). There's a small bakery section where you can get cookies, reminiscent of an Italian bakery. I tried it once last year and it was good but I avoid it because food is pricey here to begin with and I don't want to get fat. What really sets this place apart from the rest is its wide selection of fresh juices. You can get orange juice, but you can also get some wild combinations. I prefer orange carrot pineapple and ginger. They have other stuff too, including something with turmeric. The only caveat is the juices are $5-7 each. And that's the main complaint here. It's a wee bit expensive. Quality hot food by the pound usually is, but combine that with the fresh squeezed juices and you can easily end up spending $43 for two people like my father and I ended up doing. Of course, you have to spoil yourself sometimes. But the high prices don't come with much ambience as you'll be eating out of those disposable aluminum containers in a dining area that's not entirely level because the floor has dips to accommodate a number of drains on the floor. Complaints aside, the food is great at Gourmet Express! If you come you will be satisfied, just watch the weight of your food and how much your drinks cost, and you'll be happy you showed up. read more

I visit Gourmet on a weekly basis, literally every Saturday. Don't let the location fool you this place is a such a gem I may just cry if it ever closed. They have three buffets (cold, hot and vegetarian), sandwiches to die for, pizzas, and so much more. Everything is hand made and the staff is super nice. Pros: everything. Excellent. Clean bathroom and place. The cooks and juice bar staff excellent. The cashiers seem disconnected from the customers. Like they are bored. But they're very polite. Food is excellent and I do appreciate the diversity of the staff. If you don't want to cook this is the place to go to. Excellent place for vegans and the vegan foods are separated from the meats. The selection is the same however there's so much to choose from. I don't get the impression that this place has any hidden nasty kitchen. The staff seems very proud of what the cook and prepare. The male cooks and juice bar is pretty cool. I like it. What can improve is the labeling of the food because sometimes I don't know what something is however there is always someone willing and ready to explain. There's always someone wiping and keeping the place clean. The parking lot gets full during lunch time. Here you will see NYPD Pelham Police and NYFD stopping in to pick up lunch. This is a hidden gem in Pelham. The food is fresh, made on the spot, and the selection is beyond. They have MANY salad options. I usually get the green spinach salad and pick out toppings. They do serve breakfast between specific hours, I never actually got breakfast from them but when I do go pick up Vegan, Dairy Free overnight oats - I always see and smell the crispy bacon, toasty french toast and more. A wide selection of fresh premade juices and you can make your own on the spot. Coffee... their ICED CAPPUCCINO gives me LIFE. Pricing? does not get any better than Gourmet Express. I've lived near this restaurant for over 15 years and went there for the first time today. All I can say is OMGEEE!! I had a few items from the hot and cold salad bars, soup and hot ginger tea. Never in my life did I expect to face brazen homophobia but that is exactly what happened during my interaction with an employee at Gourmet Express... I was a frequent customer of Gourmet Express, often patronizing the eatery with my girlfriend. We had previously noticed stares coming from an employee who managed the soup station but didn't mull it over much. One afternoon I visited Gourmet Express alone to purchase lunch. After I finished browsing the buffet options and began walking towards the soup station the employee that managed the soup station said abruptly and loudly "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. What you are doing is wrong." After hearing him I immediately froze...I had experienced, what I consider, an obnoxious, homophobic, intrusion of my life and never expected to. After I collected my thoughts I asked a neighboring employee for the manager. After I recounted what happened to the manager they said "...well, he's old school" and "I can only imagine what you have previously gone through, you have experienced this before". There is a cold salad bar, sandwiches and pizzas, hot food, smoothies and fruit shakes, baked goods, all sorts of fancy organic / coconut water drinks (as well as the Coca-Cola products), and healthy snacks. The vegetables and fruits in the cold salad bar are fresh, crisp or ripe. There are also grilled vegetables, a number of oils/vinegars/dressings/nuts and seeds for toppings. I just want to say that I visited Gourmet Express yesterday, and I had sweet potatoes with cranberry, I had some of the breaded fish, I had some of the pasta with the tomato sauce, I had greens and I had string beans and I had the mac & cheese. It was amazing. I don't know what has happened with Gourmet Express, since the pandemic. But, it seems as though the pandemic has done some good for Gourmet Express. When I went there yesterday, the place was so clean it was like you could eat off the floor. The counters were nice and beautiful the lighting was beautiful, and the amazing smells and just amazing bakery smells, and the food looks amazing. But, when I got home and I tasted the food. All the food I chose to buy, I ended up eating everything because I just couldn't stop eating. That's how amazing the food was. If you want to eat some really good food and have an amazing experience while eating the food. You really need to go to Gourmet Express. read more
