A simple, sincere apology and some acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation would have been far more appropriate. My server, Imhotep, was excellent. He was attentive throughout the meal and repeatedly apologized for what happened, even though it was not his fault. His response was actually more professional and concerned than the manager's.
