I don't understand why this place has so many bad reviews. Merryland Buffet has always been there to satisfy my cravings after a long session of cover shooters. The staff there are very helpful and unlike like other establishments, seem to enjoy their work and do everything to the best of their abilities to serve the community with only the quality food and service the Bronx has to offer. It may not seem like it, but the food is top notch. Similar to the Glazed Mcguffins in episode #15 of Sam & Max Freelance Police, the appearance and quality of the food may seem off putting but, I can assure you that your tastebuds will thank you after eating here. Don't listen to Juan and his false accusations of food poisoning. Merryland buffet is a wonderful place and I hope they are in business for the next 100 years. I recommend the crab legs.

Absolutely slamming Chinese food w/ the boys

The Holy Grail. The pride and joy of the Bronx. Michelin star pending. One day, when you and your bros aren't too busy absolutely crushing it, it is imperative you assemble the squad and ride out to Merryland. You pay $8, cash, not for a meal - but for a one way ticket into pure ecstasy. I'm talking ALL the greasy Chinese food that your heart desires. Not to mention the mouth-watering donuts, cake and surprisedly fresh fruit. Dining at this establishment is an experience that truly can't be beaten. So please, before you enter Saturday night hyper drive, pad your stomach lining with a few meals at Merryland. God speed.

But it was okay because we found street parking a little bit of a walk away and was able to still enjoy ourselves. My fiancé and I grabbed a bunch of food from their big variety and both left stuffed. Overall, I can't say it's the best quality of foods however, the selection was huge and for the price, this was actually very good! The service was great. They started us off with drinks as soon as we sat down and would ask us if we needed refills on these drinks whenever they were running low. Even though there was a lot of people, because the space itself is also big, it did not feel like we were overcrowded so that was also a plus!

However, when we arrived, nobody was at the front counter, so we walked to the inside counter to ask to be seated. The front desk guy clearly just came in for his shift since he was hurrying on his cell phone, carrying bags and had his jacket on. He came over looking very busy and disheveled, and when my mom politely asked if we should wait here to be seated, he rudely responded, "Well if there's no one at that counter then you come to this counter if you see the sign." Meanwhile... there was no sign saying that when we left. My mom was just asking a simple question, so the attitude was unnecessary. Just because you're stressed or running late doesn't mean you take it out on customers. F him for being rude to my nice mom and never coming to this place again. As for the food, it was pretty mediocre overall, that experience left a bad taste. The sushi selection had a good variety, and the desserts were honestly the best part. They have a chocolate fondue station plus vanilla, matcha, and swirl soft serve ice cream machines. At least the place was clean. Also, the waitress gives you a parking discount before you leave, so don't forget to ask.

The food options are extensive. I've never gotten ill from eating in this place. The seafood is the star of the show! The seasoning is top notch! Instead of going to a seafood place to spend hundreds you can spend the entry and get all the seafood you want unless you want lobster lol it's worth the price The service is friendly and attentive, I don't have to chase after a waiter to refill my drink or remove my plates. They always come around to check on you. I recommend you bring cash if you want to tip, the bill is paid in the front before entering. They should consider cleaning the bathroom ever so often during service hours, because it can get pretty gross and I avoid it all cost. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the area this place is located in and the people that come here. I try to avoid coming here too late where it's more prone to getting more people. There has never been an issue or conflict before (surprisingly) until my last visit where females started arguing. It was brief and did not escalate but still a ghetto mess and I was not surprised. The difference is that this time I was seated in the middle where the area is more crowded towards the entrance. Usually I get seated towards the hibachi station and there has never been an issue there, and it isn't as crowded. I'll stick to that side next time. Also, I'm a sushi lover but I'm not a fan of their sushi. I don't like cold rice or cold sushi.. it makes sense why they have it plated on all cooler setting but it doesn't taste too good to me. There is a movie theater downstairs, so you can eat and go to the movies if you're in the mood

Went on a weekday for dinner with four…read morefriends, and had no trouble snagging a same-day reservation (there was also plenty of open seating around us). The interior is spacious, with plenty of seating, and clean. Everyone gets their own personal hot pot -- only downside of this is you can't split your broth between a spicy broth AND a bone broth (as is my wont), so I ordered a bone broth and my partner ordered a spicy broth and we switched halfway through. The menu is huge: about half the items on the AYCE menu (mainly cuts of red meat), you have to order from the waiter, and the other half (incl. veggies, noodles, fish and beef balls, tofu, etc.) you can help yourself to in a stocked fridge area. This is the stuff of AYCE dreams. We got all sorts of fish, so much meat (beef, pork belly, lamb, you name it), giant shrimp heads, frog legs, seaweed, bamboo, lotus root, all kinds of veggies, etc. etc. etc. We also loaded up on sweet potato noodles, fish tofu, actual tofu, fish balls, beef balls, fish balls stuffed WITH beef, delicious tiny fried mantou that you dip in condensed milk... they even had ciba cake, which is a fave and kind of a rare find! It was a joyous, dizzying experience, and that's before you even get to the dessert bar (full of tiny cakes, cannolis, various puddings of all flavors!). Service is very attentive -- the waiters refilled our broths often. I can't say much else except that this is probably my new go-to hot pot place. Everything was delicious and fresh, and for ~$50/person, it's hard to find better value elsewhere.

If you're looking to feast like a king without the royal price tag, this is the spot. The Breakdown: The Broth Game: I went with the GuangDong Fish Maw Chicken. We're talking Emperor Chicken, red dates, and goji berries. This isn't just soup; it's a soul-warming masterpiece. Best part? When they refill it, they use the actual broth, not just plain water. The flavor stays 100% until the very last dip. The Heavy Hitters: For the meat lovers, the New Zealand baby lamb and beef tongue are top-tier. But if you're here for the real deal, they've got the delicacies: Duck feet, frog legs, beef omasum, and yes--pig brains. If you know, you know. The "Secret" Strategy: You can order fresh Dim Sum at a fraction of the cost if you're doing hot pot. Pro tip: Snag those warm pineapple pork buns the second you see them. They go fast for a reason. The Vibes: Surprisingly spacious seating (no elbowing your neighbor for the last shrimp ball) and a massive fridge full of veggies and unlimited soft drinks. The Finish Line: They've got everything from mango pudding to... cannolis. Because it's Little Italy, and why wouldn't you want a cannoli after a hot pot marathon? The Intel: Price: Around $51--insane value for the quality. Discounts: Senior and Military/Veteran discounts available. ‍ Service: Our waiter was a legend, constantly checking in to make sure the table was stocked. Warning: It gets packed. Call for a reservation unless you enjoy staring at other people eating through the window. Overall, 10/10. My belt is screaming, but my heart is full. Can't wait to go back and do it all over again.
