I don't understand why this place has so many bad reviews. Merryland Buffet has always been there to satisfy my cravings after a long session of cover shooters. The staff there are very helpful and unlike like other establishments, seem to enjoy their work and do everything to the best of their abilities to serve the community with only the quality food and service the Bronx has to offer. It may not seem like it, but the food is top notch. Similar to the Glazed Mcguffins in episode #15 of Sam & Max Freelance Police, the appearance and quality of the food may seem off putting but, I can assure you that your tastebuds will thank you after eating here. Don't listen to Juan and his false accusations of food poisoning. Merryland buffet is a wonderful place and I hope they are in business for the next 100 years. I recommend the crab legs.

Absolutely slamming Chinese food w/ the boys

The Holy Grail. The pride and joy of the Bronx. Michelin star pending. One day, when you and your bros aren't too busy absolutely crushing it, it is imperative you assemble the squad and ride out to Merryland. You pay $8, cash, not for a meal - but for a one way ticket into pure ecstasy. I'm talking ALL the greasy Chinese food that your heart desires. Not to mention the mouth-watering donuts, cake and surprisedly fresh fruit. Dining at this establishment is an experience that truly can't be beaten. So please, before you enter Saturday night hyper drive, pad your stomach lining with a few meals at Merryland. God speed.

It was pretty busy on an August Sunday evening - Huge selection of buffet options, including hot pot and ramen--we didn't get to try either of the latter, though, since we were stuffed after making a couple of rounds through the buffet - The highlights were definitely the sashimi selection, which was plentiful and fresh, and the endless snow crab legs - The meats for the hot pot, stored in the standing refrigerator, did not look to be the best quality - I was excited to see lobster, based on prior reviews and photos, but sadly couldn't find any during our visit - Service was mixed: the waitstaff were quick to clear used plates, but interactions were minimal; staff replenishing the buffet also seemed a bit careless, nearly running me (and my little one) over with their cart - Cleanliness is also questionable: I found what appeared to be a steamed bun wrapper at the bottom of my Diet Coke, which was definitely not a pleasant discovery after nearly finishing the drink

An absolute pleasure!…read more The amount of choices left me in disbelief. Frog legs to stone crab... noodles to rice... beef to chicken. An absolute feast that is well worth the money. I can't wait to come back to fill up my belly again. Staff was 10/10 as they were bring out fresh food frequently so nobody had to wait for anything. Place is big and lots of seating. However, when we arrived, nobody was at the front counter, so we walked to the inside counter to ask to be seated. The front desk guy clearly just came in for his shift since he was hurrying on his cell phone, carrying bags and had his jacket on. He came over looking very busy and disheveled, and when my mom politely asked if we should wait here to be seated, he rudely responded, "Well if there's no one at that counter then you come to this counter if you see the sign." Meanwhile... there was no sign saying that when we left. My mom was just asking a simple question, so the attitude was unnecessary. Just because you're stressed or running late doesn't mean you take it out on customers. F him for being rude to my nice mom and never coming to this place again. As for the food, it was pretty mediocre overall, that experience left a bad taste. The sushi selection had a good variety, and the desserts were honestly the best part. They have a chocolate fondue station plus vanilla, matcha, and swirl soft serve ice cream machines. At least the place was clean. Also, the waitress gives you a parking discount before you leave, so don't forget to ask.

There is nice music playing but low enough for conversations to be had. The staff was quick in clearing the table of finished plates and quite attentive. Now the food, 70% of the food was good, tender meats, sushi was decently fresh. The other 30% was unappetizing, the dimsum was sad looking and lacking variety, oyster grilling station took forever to cook, the crabs were lacklustered and didn't taste fresh. Also I'm guessing because of the promotion, a lot of items left off the menu (no snow crab legs, or abalone to name a few) Overall for the promotional price, definitely worth coming to try, better than most buffets in the city and the positives outweigh the negatives and you will definitely leave full.

We were seated in a semi private back room with a few other groups. The buffet had an extensive variety of seafood, sushi, fried foods, veggies, Chinese dishes, salad, soups, fruit, desserts, including ice cream and popsicles. I really enjoyed the steamed crab, shrimp, BBQ ribs, and grilled fish. The Crab was delightfully tender. Shrimp was nice and juicy. BBQ Ribs were succulent and well seasoned. There were a few items that were not good, such as the Egg Tart and Fried Calamari, which was rubbery and bland. There was also Hibachi grill, where you choose the ingredients and it is cooked in front of you. I selected noodles, egg, broccoli, shrimp, crab, steak, carrots, and more, paired with teriyaki garlic sauce. The meats and veggies were cooked perfectly, but there was too much teriyaki, making the dish too sweet. Desserts included fresh fruits, mini cakes, sugary donuts, tasty tarts, sweet ice cream, yummy ice pops, fudge bars, and more. Service was good. The waitresses were efficient and brought drinks out in a timely manner. Cost of the buffet was a super great deal at only $20.

The food options are extensive. I've never gotten ill from eating in this place. The seafood is the star of the show! The seasoning is top notch! Instead of going to a seafood place to spend hundreds you can spend the entry and get all the seafood you want unless you want lobster lol it's worth the price The service is friendly and attentive, I don't have to chase after a waiter to refill my drink or remove my plates. They always come around to check on you. I recommend you bring cash if you want to tip, the bill is paid in the front before entering. They should consider cleaning the bathroom ever so often during service hours, because it can get pretty gross and I avoid it all cost. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the area this place is located in and the people that come here. I try to avoid coming here too late where it's more prone to getting more people. There has never been an issue or conflict before (surprisingly) until my last visit where females started arguing. It was brief and did not escalate but still a ghetto mess and I was not surprised. The difference is that this time I was seated in the middle where the area is more crowded towards the entrance. Usually I get seated towards the hibachi station and there has never been an issue there, and it isn't as crowded. I'll stick to that side next time. Also, I'm a sushi lover but I'm not a fan of their sushi. I don't like cold rice or cold sushi.. it makes sense why they have it plated on all cooler setting but it doesn't taste too good to me. There is a movie theater downstairs, so you can eat and go to the movies if you're in the mood

You don't pay for a wonderful "experience" --- that was never part of the package. UMI Premium Sushi & Seafood Buffet changes that, and offers the Chinese Buffet in a setting that is bright, open, and beautifully decorated. There is no real "server" when you come here, all of the servers work as a collective --- you call one down, they bring you your drink, another passes by they collect your plate. These workers definitely work in harmony. Now I have to say: this Buffet is a bit pricier than the normal "Flaming Grill & Buffet" --- adults are $23.99 and kids are between $11-16. But remember: you getting not just the food --- your getting what most other buffets don't offer: AN EXPERIENCE. Besides the "hot dishes" like hibachi beef and orange chicken, UMI Premium Sushi & Seafood Buffet offers a wide variety not seen anywhere else: Hot Pot anyone? Included! Ramen? Included! Unlimited Bubble Tea? Included! Beverages? Included! Taste-wise I was thoroughly impressed. Since this is a popular buffet, it seems the food is refreshed quite often, meaning nothing will remain in the warmers for too long. Some of my favorites? Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Braised Pork Belly, and the Cantaloupe Boba Tea. True to it's name, this Buffet exceeded my expectations, was an absolute EXPERIENCE and I can't wait for another visit!

Went on a weekday for dinner with four…read morefriends, and had no trouble snagging a same-day reservation (there was also plenty of open seating around us). The interior is spacious, with plenty of seating, and clean. Everyone gets their own personal hot pot -- only downside of this is you can't split your broth between a spicy broth AND a bone broth (as is my wont), so I ordered a bone broth and my partner ordered a spicy broth and we switched halfway through. The menu is huge: about half the items on the AYCE menu (mainly cuts of red meat), you have to order from the waiter, and the other half (incl. veggies, noodles, fish and beef balls, tofu, etc.) you can help yourself to in a stocked fridge area. This is the stuff of AYCE dreams. We got all sorts of fish, so much meat (beef, pork belly, lamb, you name it), giant shrimp heads, frog legs, seaweed, bamboo, lotus root, all kinds of veggies, etc. etc. etc. We also loaded up on sweet potato noodles, fish tofu, actual tofu, fish balls, beef balls, fish balls stuffed WITH beef, delicious tiny fried mantou that you dip in condensed milk... they even had ciba cake, which is a fave and kind of a rare find! It was a joyous, dizzying experience, and that's before you even get to the dessert bar (full of tiny cakes, cannolis, various puddings of all flavors!). Service is very attentive -- the waiters refilled our broths often. I can't say much else except that this is probably my new go-to hot pot place.
