Our daughter brought her car in for repairs and was charged almost $500 . She drove it to work the next day and the car broke down and had it towed to another shop closer to work. We called and spoke to Tommy because the spark plugs they just replaced were melted into the coil. It appeared that whatever the problem was with the car was NOT fixed. Being new to Raleigh, I've been slowly figuring out who to go to for basic services: haircuts, doctor, dentist, tailor, you know the drill! It stinks when you don't get the service you like or feel like you've been ripped off. Recently my poor Isuzu Amigo (best Mexican-Japanese SUV around :) limped into the parking lot spewing steam with no power steering. So finally, the time had come to find a mechanic! Poking around the recommendations list at work, I found an entry for Mission Valley 66, right down the street. The place doesn't look like much: old cars densely parked all around; inside it looks really old school, grease everywhere. But you know what? They did a great job on my SUV at a reasonable price, don't let the looks fool ya! The people there were polite, speedy and honest which is all you could ever ask for in a mechanic. Overall I'm happy with their work and if I need to get another car fixed, I'll be back at Mission Valley 66! read more

A neighbor referred me to Tommy when I had my 2009 Nissan Murano break down. It needed a new radiator and hoses. I went to the nearest shop who said I needed more than I did, and wanted to charge far more for it. It was just so high so I called around and called around and no one could do it for less, and some couldn't do it at all. I made a post on my neighborhood Facebook group and my friend and neighbor saw it and told me all about how amazing Tommy was with her many cars over many years, and how trustworthy and reliable he is. She even offered to drive me there to pick up my car if I'd have work done there. This guy is fast, he is kind, and he is so very honest. We had my car towed to his shop, site unseen, no face to his name yet, just going on her compelling testimony of Tommy. She was right, and this guy is absolute GOLD. He saved me so much trouble, time and money - he did it in half the time other shops quoted, and for less, and the work he did was perfect. It was about 2 years ago and I have never had any issues with it since!! His business is hopping, and his little parking lot stays slam full, but somehow he still gets everything done in a reasonable or even surprisingly fast time. read more

For routine maintenance and minor repairs you can not find a better deal. If they charge $100 for a service you can bet Firestone or Midas or Jiffy Lube charges $150. They are so honest, and twice now I have taken a vehicle in for something that was nagging and they fixed it free of charge. I worked nearby it for over a year and now I make it a point to drive across Raleigh anytime I need work. Drop it by first thing in the morning and pick it up after work. Love it! read more

The mechanic outright lied to me about my battery!!! Because he didn't want to honor my warranty. My car wouldn't start so I had it jumped but I went to get it checked out anyway to find out why. I came to this place because they deal with Interstate batteries and mine is still under warranty. I waited almost a whole hour before the mechanic tested my battery. And he said it was great, nothing wrong with my battery. Well three days later my car wouldn't start again and I got another jump. Three independent people told me that the battery was no good; they didn't even need to test it because they said it was obvious from the corrosion. Completely dishonest! Not recommended unless you want to be cheated. read more

I just moved into town and I needed an oil change and I had a low tire. They told me I had to drop it off, but since I am new I don't know anyone enough to come and get me and my husband was at work already so I had to get this done somewhere else. The other place I went to was awful and did not inspect my tire for nails. Fast forward a little and I finally see the nail in my tire and I arrange it so that someone can get me. This is the best auto mechanic shop I have ever been to. They plugged my tire in about 10 minutes and it was so cheap that I repeated it back to him. I am use to being charged 25 dollars for a plug, but it was 8 dollars! They have honestly made my day with their great customer service. I told my husband that we have found our car place. I had many co-workers that said great things about Tommy and his people so I gave them a try when I needed some repairs (CV axle, blower motor, Freon recharge) and general maintenance (oil change) done to my car. Tommy was up front, quick, and his prices were great. I had two different jobs priced out at two other places and even though Tommy was not aware of the other prices I was quoted he had the best price on both jobs. I feel good that I've been treated really fairly at this shop and that the prices & work are good. Fabulous service. My NC State student has an old car - away from home, and the power steering went out. She pulled in to Mission Valley 66 at 5:50 PM and they met her at the door and knew what the issue was. By 9:10 the next morning she had a phone call that her car was ready. I'll admit I only chose this place because it was open until 7pm (unlike many car repair places) and I wanted to stop by for a quick opinion on why my brake lights weren't working before going to a movie across the street. Tommy was great and helped rule out a few things that night. I brought it back the next morning to fix it and a few other issues. I was told it would take a few hours (which in Meineke terms has usually meant all day) but received a call within 30 minutes of dropping it off that it was ready. Not a pleasant experience at all. I was told it was going to be $100 to have my car fixed. I was then charged $196.64, and was told the parts were more costly than he estimated... Then I was told it was going to cost $200 for a battery, not including the labor. I refused to have the battery done, but when I got home I checked on the cost of the battery and it was well under $100 at three different locations... DON"T GO THIS PLACE IF YOU DON"T WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF! read more

I have been using this repair shop since I moved to Raleigh in 2016. They have always been quick, efficient and honest. Recently I went in to have the motor in my window fixed. they said they would call when car was ready in about 2 hours. My phone was also broken at the time so I said I would just come back in two hours. I told them I was walking over to the bagel shop. I was at the bagel shop for about an hour when the owner rolled up in my car. They had fixed it within the hour and driven over to give me a ride. Service like this is rare to come by.
