I had the turkey two nights ago and went back for seconds. I couldn't decide between the salmon or turkey so got them both. The food is great but where they really excel is the service. Super friendly, polite, respectful. They do a visible complete job with respect to COVID. The older lady taking care of the seating area realized I didn't grab napkins and brought some without asking. She saw I didn't get a drink an automatically offered to fetch some water. The younger guy in the same area was every bit as helpful and polite. The exact same for the girl who took my order, 3/3 with top notch service. I am stingy with 5s but this team did an excellent job! read more

So I have mixed feelings about this place because one I enjoyed the vibe in the atmosphere for sure, and I like that they help out veterans. The staff was very friendly when I walked up to place an order since I was looking at the menu for their sides. The lady start explaining the menu to me and I told her that I was vegetarian and she said oh no problem let me show you where the sides are and help you make a decision. That was super nice of her to take time out of her day to help me make a decision what I was going to eat. I will say the mac & cheese was basic. Nothing fancy about it. Nothing that stood out or told me I had to come back for it. The sweet potato mashed though was really good and I definitely enjoyed that a lot. They did give me a free apple dish which was really good. I got Arnold Palmer and it was actually pretty damn good. The staff was friendly the whole time we were there. The only reason I probably won't be coming back is the prices were a little higher than I was expecting and the parking situation around here sucked a lot. It's the same reason why I stopped. Going to city barbecue so much because this area is always way too congested and trying to find parking is almost impossible. read more

6 sauces to choose from ... wow! Had to make a quick decision :-). Memphis Belle was my favorite from the other sauces namely Texas twang, smoky mountain, kc classic, bay b que and Tupelo honey. I tried everything with my Meat Sampler with xxl combo. It's 3 choices of meat with 2 sides plus a 16 oz drink. Total cost was 18++. Shares with my hubby, no left over. Place is immaculately clean, lots of Air Force, navy, coast guard and military inspired decor. Good food and fast service. An extension of any guy's man cave. Great place to watch football ... tv on! read more

OUTSTANDING!!! I've had Bad Brad's, Slows, Lockharts, Brown Iron Brewery, Woodpile, and this place beats ALL of them hands-down. I love Arkins Sweet BBQ in Southfield but this place is better. I got baby back ribs, half bbq chicken, and pulled pork. All 3 were fantastic (not dry at all.) I also enjoyed the bbq baked beans, side salad, corn bread, sweet tea, and AMAZING peach cobbler. Honestly the only thing I did not like was the green beans and the collards but shame on me for ordering vegetables at a barbecue place! Service was fast and friendly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! read more

Best bbq spare ribs I've ever had. I've been to many bbq places around the country, some famous and others not so famous, hole-in-the-wall, divey but good bbq places. You don't have to go to Texas or Memphis to get great tasting spare ribs because it's here in Troy. Not only are the ribs so tender that they literally fall off the bone but the flavor of the fry ribs is perfect in my opinion compared to everything else I've tried. You have a choice of 6 different BBQ sauces sauces on the table- Memphis Belle and Smoky Mountain were our favorites. Sides are pretty good too, especially the baked beans. Mac-n-cheese was ok, very creamy and flavorful. I finally have a local go-to place for bbq. read more

Man o man is this place good!!! We stop here after 2 other places were closed never been before. Well let me tell you I will be coming back most definitely, it has the most tender melt in your mouth brisket I ever had, the ribs are so moist and tender ate the with no sauce added. The baked beans were outstanding as well as the Mac and cheese, the coleslaw was perfect also the corn bread. They are opening another locator Hall and Schoenherr in the spring it will be my go to BBQ place for sure!!!!! read more

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and I probably will not go back. The first time was a little better. I ordered the 2 meat plate which comes with your choice of 2 meats and a piece of cornbread. Sides are ala carte. I got ribs (you get 2) brisket (you get two slices) and I also ordered a side of fries and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was sooo dried out! Fries were ok but ketchup was no where to be found. The meats were dry too and not alot of flavor. Cornbread was also dry. My bill was over 22.00. Pretty expensive being I threw most of it out. Woman on the register was alot nicer the first time I came in. There are other restaurants that serve smoked food that is wayyy better than this. I don't recommend Mission Barbecue. read more

Second favorite spot to order team lunches and catering orders. Unfortunately they have forgotten one thing, sometimes more significant than others, at least the last 3x we ordered. Cornbread was no big deal, sauces was pretty inconvenient, but a whole 1lb order of brisket really sucked. Still, we love them and love supporting veterans. No place is perfect. Just if you are ordering for 8 or more people, check your whole order 2x before leaving. read more

Not only was this the best bbq I have ever had, i love the whole concept of the place. The staff is so respectful and helpful. You can tell they enjoy their job and want to be there. The manager Will came up to our table and was so respectful and asked us how we liked everything. He also gave us free coupons for next time and they gave us so many extra sides. 10/10 recommend this place to anyone looking for the best barbecue in the area. It was a great experience and I will be back. read more

This place was pretty good. I had the brisket and pulled pork in a 2 meat market sampler. Prices are lower than similar places in the area but I think that might be because the portions are smaller. Sides don't come with the sampler but you do get a piece of cornbread. My meat was not as hot as I had hoped but it still tasted good. The sauce bottles could probably use more frequent filling and cleaning as the table I sat at had sticky bottles and some were close to empty. read more

Delicious food & service member/first responders get special treatment! Pulled pork & chicken are delish. However I really have to rave about the brisket baked beans. If you are picky about baked beans like me, you will probably love these. Closest to my grandma's beans I have ever had! Usually I don't even bother with them at restaurants because it's always disappointing, but these looked really good, super dark brown & thick, that caramelized look. And, they have brisket in them. Just saying. So I decided to try, and then had seconds. Outstanding. I haven't tried the brisket yet, but that will be next. And I'm advised the turkey is amazing, who woulda thought. read more

I have never gotten so sick from visiting a restaurant in years. Within an hour of being at the restaurant, I began getting nauseous and the food started coming up about 30 minutes after that. My stomach is still not 100%. Staying away from there going forward, first and last visit. read more

Been here several times and never been disappointed. Service is great and the food has always been good. I have had the lean brisket, pulled pork and smoked Turkey. The fresh cut fries are an excellent side item as well as the green beans and macaroni and cheese. I highly recommend this place. Traditionally I'm not a fan of chain type BBQ but Mission is an exception. Go check it out. read more

1st time eating here. Our group tried brisket and ribs and fries. Everything was fantastic. Great find.

Great food! Great service!Employees go above and beyond!Meat Combo Dealie-Delicious and affordable!

How do you even beat this place for the price, quality and portions you get. You can't. We tried the pulled pork, brisket and chicken breast. I'm not a chicken breast person so I cant comment but I'd say the pulled pork and brisket blows Lockhart's out of the water. Service was also fabulous. Quick and friendly and they let you sample the various bbq meats they have on offer if you're indecisive. Come here if you want authentic bbq without all the fuss and upcharge at the fancier places. read more

This place is a joke to me. Customer service was horrible food all over the floor. The ribs were hard and dry nothing special. Just nasty place. I will never support this business and I'm upset that I spent even a penny in here. read more

Got it catered at my company and it was pretty chintzy. Got about 2 table spoons of meat on a cold bun. I had to ask them for more meat 3 times to get this much. They look at you like you are nuts. Seriously you can't warm the bun? The servings were so incredibly small you would have to go back 6 times to get full. Green beans were raw and mac and cheese was just mac. Don't know if the restaurant is any better on portion size or not. read more

Mission BBQ - Food truck catering at the office. Mac and cheese, green beans, pulled pork on a slider bun and one of their many sauces - Barbeque Near Me - Troy, Michigan

My husband and I stopped in here and were really impressed! Firstly, let me say that this chain is ALL ABOUT THE MILITARY. I'm sure for some, this is amazing; the walls are DRIPPING with military logos, insignia's, pictures, paraphernalia, quotes, inspirational whatnot, etc. This does not appeal to me in any way, but it didn't stop us from going in. Our first impression was that prices were high - we each ordered a two meat combo dealie, one of them with two sides, the other with just one, and two pops (upgraded to the fancy cup with a donation). Total was almost $40. However, the food was GREAT. Good portion sizes, quality meat, the sides were impressive and the variety of sauces was fun. Between the two of us, we ordered the smoked turkey, pulled chicken, brisket and pulled pork. All of it was tender and delicious - not a stray bone or piece of gristle to be found. The green beans side was AMAZING, and the mac & cheese was high quality, not Velveeta garbage. Staff was friendly and inviting. Would recommend over Billy Sims or Dickies. read more

This is one of the best fast food BBQ spots around. The prices are fair and the people were nice. We will definitely be back.

Mr. Will at the counter is a professional; humble and fantastic at his job. I came in with a large order on short notice and the Mission team in Troy got it done. I also strongly appreciate the patriotic atmosphere. Definitely recommend. read more

mission bbq could've easily been 4-5 stars for me. the food was excellent, and i've heard nothing but good things about this place. now i am no bbq connoisseur, but when i have a craving for it i know where to go. my husband's aunt raved about this place, so when i got my craving we just had to try it. now, when i said earlier that it COULD have been 4-5 stars, here's why: i dislike nothing more than when i go somewhere new for the first time and the employees are unhelpful. i always look at menu for businesses before i go somewhere new, just to see what they have. my husband does not do this, so when we got to the restaurant and he checked out the menu he said out loud "i've never been here before". as an employee, when a customer says that i would automatically ask if they had questions or needed help. the employee behind the register literally just stared at us like we were aliens. anyway, my husband ended up ordering the spare ribs and two sides and i ended up ordering the two meat combo (pulled chicken and jalapeño & cheese sausage) with two sides. after we proceeded to order, we got our drinks and the food was ready in no more than a few minutes. we approach the counter to get the food, and the employee proceeds to ask if we want sauces. we say, "there's 6 different sauces and we aren't sure what they are." instead of explaining the sauces or at least just offering an opinion on which sauce is the best, the employee then says "what?". at this point i just grabbed the bag and proceeded to fill up small containers of each sauce on the table. i was so annoyed! i don't like when people are "just there", do your job and at least try to be happy doing it! the lady cleaning the lobby floors was way more friendly than the cashier, she told us that we could grab sauces that were already packaged. aside from the crappy customer service, the food was excellent. the chicken had the perfect smoked flavor, and most of the sauces were great. there were two that i did not care for. the sausage was nothing to write home about. but the mac and cheese was really good, i honestly was not expecting much because mac and cheese is just one of those things that is hard to master. green beans were delicious as well, tons of bacon pieces throughout. they give you free cornbread with your meal but it was super dry! all in all we will still be back despite the bad things that happened, the food outweighs all of that thankfully. read more

Mission BBQ - pulled chicken and jalapeño & cheese sausage with two sides (green beans and mac) - Barbeque Near Me - Troy, Michigan

When I travel, I try to avoid "chain" restaurants, however, Mission BBQ is one of my exceptions. I have eaten at many of their locations during my travels, not because their food is remarkable, although it is very good, and very consistent, but because of their unwavering support for veterans, active military, and first responders. This visit, in Troy, MI, I had the 2 meat plate, turkey and moist brisket, with Mac and Cheese, and baked beans. The meats were cooked perfectly, with great flavor, and were definitely still tender and moist, which is one of the big issues I've found with chain bbq joints. Their selection of 6 sauces on each table is awesome, each one adds a unique twist to the meats. Side dishes were delicious and hot, and unlike some bbq places, they include a piece of cornbread with the meal. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, smiling, and helpful. If you are ever in the area of a Mission BBQ, it is definitely worth a stop in! read more

3.5 stars: Food is a reasonable 2.5-3, but service is 4 or better. Finally got around to trying this place out. Ended up going with my boy and he very much enjoyed the kids mac and fries. I thought the mac was standard, but overpriced based on the portion size. The fries were fresh cut, which I enjoyed, but if you prefer fast food fries, you may not. I asked for a half/half of moist and lean brisket, and the flavor was good, but it was was pretty dry. They have a wide variety of sauces, inspired by different BBQ regions. I personally like mustard based sauces, and they have a nice version (seems to be only available at condiment station by the straws). The staff was super friendly and attentive and seemed to enjoy their product and simply happy to be there. Overall, food was reasonable, but is a bit pricey for what you get, but is good enough, if you don't smoke meat yourself. Moreover, they do a good job of making the place feel local, despite being a chain. read more

Mission bbq is my favorite bbq!!! The Mac and cheese is absolutely amazing, the pulled pork is outstanding, it is flavorful and tender, not dried out at all! Love the sausages as well! Good food and the restaurant supports veterans. All the employees were very nice. Will definitely go back again.

They are NOT open until 9 - I tried to pick up some dinner at 8:30 and they are closed. Don't assume that the posted hours are legitimate.

Food was great. I got the pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and French fries. I mentioned that it was my first time, and they threw in a peach cobbler. All of the food was delicious. I highly recommend the cobbler. Their customer service shines. They're very friendly and went so far as to give me a certificate for a free sandwich to come back. The ambiance is patriotic focused, but not red white and blue. It highlights different branches of the military. At noon, they sing the national anthem. I'll be back. read more

Actually not bad for a strip mall joint. Beats Dickey's in multiple levels from taste, sauce options (7 types), portions, and price. You should get the XXL meals since sides are $2 each anyways and you end up getting a free drink that way. Their pulled pork platter comes in a huge serving and def a good deal. Would opt for instead of sandwich. The brisket was also not bad for the venue. Actually had some good juicy parts to it and is better than most quick serve BBQ places. It seemed like there was about the same meat in the sandwich and platter but maybe half to a full slice extra. Sides: -The green beans were surprisingly good and flavorful. -Baked beans had a good amount of brisket mixed in and you could taste it with every bite. -Mac n cheese was meh but maybe because it was late and sitting for a while but def wouldn't be a side I would go straight for. read more

I love the concepts of this place. They are very supportive of troops and higher those that served for us. The server there was awesome they were so nice and they were very intuitive and they were very helpful when it came to deciding what to order. The barbecue isn't bad I'm not going to lie it isn't my favorite but it isn't bad. I really do enjoy the sides I loved the sauce in their potato salad it was so different but it was very good. I Like their concept of mixing new and old the place is very clean and it's very organized however there is stable bar pieces with the sauces and the paper towel rolls at each table. read more
