This was my 2nd try at Jayells. I didn't post the 1st time hoping it was just an off day. It wasn't apparently. 1st time I tried the Burnt Ends. I don't think it was from brisket point. (the only thing burnt ends can be made of) they were flavorless and chewy. Tough. No smoke flavor either. 2nd time was the Brisket Burrito. I found it to be bland and flavorless. The mix of ingredients didn't give a desireable flavor profile. I didn't like the "dry slaw"? Whatever that is. It was all through the burrito. I picked out some of the most flavorless brisket pieces I have ever tasted to eat and threw the rest away. Also, what kind of BBQ joint serves tortilla chips with the BBQ? None that I know of. Make up your mind. Do you want to be a BBQ restaurant or a Mexican restaurant. I'm probably done trying Jayells and I cannot recommend them.

Overall good BBQ. Not the best we have had but everything was flavored pretty well. Everything could use a little more smoke to it but all was tender. Our favorite on the platter was the sausage and chopped brisket. Our corn bread was mashed in a bowl. Kind of strange. Don't order the candied bacon! Was so salty that it was not edible.

BBQ nachos to try for the first time Jayell Smokehouse here in Romeo. Great smoke on the pulled pork, crispy chips, a smooth and tasty chili queso, along with good compliment of onions, cheese, and salsa. Worth the visit.

I did takeout and discovered later that a lot of things were not included in my order. My friend ordered the Brisket Sandwich Combo which is supposed to include red onions and jalapeño slices. There wasn't any cheese or onions in the sandwich. The brisket meat was good but she asked why there was nothing in her sandwich besides meat. The combo came with a side of Smoked Mac N Cheese, but we could not eat it as there were no napkins or utensils included in our takeout bag. I was hoping to order some Burnt Ends, but they already ran out by 2:30 pm. I ordered the Everything Burrito, which has pretty much everything on the menu in it - pulled pork, red onions, slaw, beans, macaroni, sausage, and brisket. It was a unique kind of burrito I never had before. It was fine, but despite the ton of stuff in it, there was a lack of flavor. I prefer a traditional burrito with rice, cheese, and vegetables. I tasted some of the brisket meat and thought it was good. If I return I'd only order plain meat with sides rather than the sandwiches or burritos. The service was fine. I would give a higher rating but it's unacceptable to not add any toppings onto a sandwich nor include wet wipes, napkins, and utensils.

The menu is huge, so hard to decide! So much flavor, incredible flavor! Awesome atmosphere and super clean. Our waitress was very attentive. Heads up, just a few parking spots may have to park on the street.

3 meat combo. Brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Huge portions.

Got takeout and everything was amazing. The giant pretzel, the ribs, the mac & cheese and the potato salad. Loved everything.

This review for Bird Dogz is a long time coming. We've been following Chef Jess for the last two summers because the food is that good. Almost everything on her decked out hot dogs and chicken sandwiches is made from scratch - from the coleslaw to the pineapple bbq sauce and dill pickle chips, hell I think the mayo is even from scratch. The fresh squeezed lemonade, which comes in several flavors, is what lemonade should taste like, not overly sweet but very refreshing and light. As we're making our way through the menu after many visits already, here are some of our highlights: "Frankie" Hot Dog - jumbo hot dog topped with brown sugar bacon, homemade coleslaw, crushed chips, scallions, and apple butter...yes apple butter and trust me it's literally a perfect compliment to the rest of the ingredients. Our perennial favorite. "Miss Piggy" Sandwich - grilled smoked ham, thick bacon and cheese on fresh baked sourdough. Little bits of cheese grilled on the outside of the sandwhich is a plus #4 Crispy or roasted Chicken Sandwich topped with pineapple BBQ sauce, homemade slaw and pickle chips. Yet another unexpected but very delicious combo Sidewinder fries - Garlic Parmesan flavor - thick, fresh cut fries in a twisty shape with flavor bombs topped throughout Heirloom BLT - delectable sandwich with the large slices of fresh heirloom tomatoes, brown sugar bacon, shredded lettuce, and black pepper crema on fresh baked, toasted sourdough Fresh Lemonade - hand crafted, several flavors and worth it There's also a tempting selection of desserts, some with Tillamook icecream in several flavors. I'm usually too stuffed from the meal to take on a dessert, so I have yet to try and will update the review later. Chef Jess and her crew are friendly and very accommodating to requests. Outdoor seating with cute seating vignettes, even a kids table. We brought our family to Bird Dogz for an impromptu birthday get-together and Chef Jess and her crew went out of their way by setting up a long table decorated for the occasion. With nine people in the party, service was fast and food was consistently delicious. Not much time left in the summer so we're taking in Bird Dogz more often. This weekend they have Peach Festival dessert specials going on. Apparently Bird Dogz holds pop-up events after summer with a different menu(s), which is something to look forward to.

Fantastic food truck in Washington Township...worth driving out of your way to get this food…read more The truck is know for their amazing, over the top loaded hot dogs. But they also have great looking sandwiches and fantastic ice cream treats. On my first visit I got the following. Frankie Dog- amazing combo of sweet bacon, crispy fresh slaw, apple butter and chips. Was an amazing salty sweet blend...fantastic Garlic Parm fries- loved the pedal shape of the fries great for scooping up the Parm garlic mix and a little ketchup Strawberry float- not just vanilla ice cream with pop. This had chunks of fresh strawberries mixed in...fantastic Blueberry cinnamon roll- this may have been a daily special but I hope not...definitely would like to get it again. What was also nice was the great sitting area they have set up. There were a couple tents set up, and nicely furnished. There were even cards and board games to play while you waited for your food. That was a great touch. I'll definitely be back

However the last time that I went was during the vintage fest, it as a whole soured my overall experience. Myself and another had gone to get breakfast. The food was alright as mentioned before and the service was not the best at least for us. Our waitress was decently friendly but had been nicer and more accommodating to others when problems arose while taking shortcuts with our issues. I didn't think much of it but it had bothered the person that came with me so I talked to someone at the register about it in a polite, down to earth kind of way. Remember that. So you can only imagine my surprise that when leaving the aforementioned waitress follows us out to confront us about what we had said. She asked what was wrong and the other person with me told her. The waitress decided to go full passive aggressive on us both. Without listening she continued to tell us how we were wrong and insisted she was the nicest one there and specified that's why she took us over other waitresses. The implication she had in her voice had some mild racist undertones given my plus one was a person of color. I was rightfully getting angry and had made multiple comments of her being unprofessional I went back in. Unsurprisingly she follows us back in and continues huffing like an angsty teenager. I tell the same person what happened and she gives me a card to fill out with my number to be contacted later. All the while the same waitress continues to badger me with passive aggressive comments. Since that trip there I have received not a single call or voicemail apologizing for her actions. TL:DR Waitress followed us out after an incredibly mild criticism and harasses us. Restaurant did nothing.

Great location, great potential... execution needs a full reset…read more I really wanted to love this place. The space is charming, the concept is unique for Romeo, and it could be the kind of spot people rave about. But right now, it feels like a restaurant still trying to figure out who it wants to be when it grows up. Service: Our servers were mostly friendly. Long gaps between check-ins, mixed-up orders and outside of our group, a total of 3 couples at different times were in the place...so 6 people total from 6-8:30pm on a Thursday night. Food: For the price point, I expected... well, something memorable. Instead, everything felt a little tired. Not bad, just not good -- which is almost worse when the bill suggests otherwise. Romeo isn't a hard town to please, but it is a town that knows value when it sees it. Ambiance: Nice, space, genuinely. They've got the bones of a great place. But like the food, the vibe doesn't match the menu or the price. It's a little confused -- and honestly, so was I. Overall: This restaurant could be a gem in a small town that loves supporting local spots. But it needs a reinvention: clearer identity, better service flow, and food that earns the price tag. I hope they get there -- truly -- because the potential is sitting right in front of them. They just need to serve it. Would I try again? Yes... in a few months, after they regroup.
