I really want to like this place--I truly do. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing. Even when the restaurant is only half full, everything seems to take an incredibly long time. Every time we visit, we leave saying we won't come back, but because it's convenient and we can usually get a table, we give it another chance. We always hope the experience will be better, but it rarely is. The bartender (young girl with dark hair) often seems more focused on chatting than serving customers, and we've even heard servers comment on how long it takes to get drinks because of the delays behind the bar. The food is mediocre at best, but the biggest issue is the service. It has so much potential, and we'd love to become regular customers if the service improved. Please address these issues--it would make a huge difference. read more

This used to be our favorite, local, go-to restaurant. It was reliable and good food. NOT ANYMORE! No food for the money, long wait, quality changed drastically. The salads contain pale lettuce, with lumpy "iceberg chunks". We got this as a to-go order. Look at the chicken! It looks like breadcrumbs, obviously came out of a bag in the fridge. Tasteless, or as described by recipient, "like cardboard". Certain restaurants down the street serve nice freshly grilled chicken strips, hot, tasty, meaty! Others have waits for tables. We were there on a 3/14 and there wasn't a crowd. We sat at the bar and ordered food within ten minutes. This is our local bar to stop in on a Friday night. Keno, booze and good food...oh and all the locals. What more could you ask for? The waitresses are super. They remember your drink and are always attentive and on their game. My girlfriend and I went on a Saturday night around 8:30. We arrived and were sat within minutes. Sometimes I worry when getting sat so quickly, but no so here. First off, The Firehouse has Coca-Cola, which says a lot about a business. Coca-Cola demands excellence from any business it is associated with, so to me it's already a great place when I know a cool delicious Coke is waiting for me. Our waitress, Kim, was beyond friendly. Whenever I go somewhere new I ask a lot of questions, and even though most were self-evident, Kim answered them with a smile and a laugh. She was fantastic. For the food, I've worked in the restaurant business long enough to know what good oil and bad oil looks like, and the onion rings were dropped in fresh oil, which made all the difference. They came out crisp and oh-so-right. Also fresh, the coleslaw. I don't know if it was made in-house or not (I forgot to ask), but it was dope AF, as was the clam chowder. Appropriately hearty and thick, without being overly creamy. We ordered pizza as well - one square and one round. The square was great with onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Nicely cooked with a toasted bottom. The round, even though the dough was the same, tasted somewhat different. Not bad necessarily, just nowhere as good as the square. My girlfriend and I also ordered the ribs, which had a tasty sauce; however, you must like ribs that come right off the bone, or u won't be happy. I didn't grow up with them cooked this way, but I can dig it. My lady ordered the snicker ice cream cake, saying it was divine. I'm not sure about the taste, but it definitely looked great. The Firehouse - local, teeming with people of all ages, and full of bar "standard" foods. All things I usually don't enjoy, but somehow this place did everything just about as right as you can. My Mom and I stopped in last night to place a carry out order. The last time I was at this pub was years ago when it was named The Flying Machine. All I remember back then was they had a badass grilled chicken veggie pita. Sure enough they still had that as an option on the menu, score! My Mom and I ordered three grilled chicken veggie pitas, well done. Last time she ordered one the bottom of the pita was soggy. Kim at the bar was great making sure she got our order correct. Well, we have been going here for years and Loved it and unfortunately, today will be the last time ever. Being Lent we ordered the shrimp basket and Fish & Chips, the Shrimp was a weird Spicy Deep Fried concoction that was $13.50 and yet they served it with cocktail sauce that was in a to-go plastic container like you get jelly in a fast food place, the Fish was OK, little greasy, but OK, then we got the bill..... $40.00 dollars for (4) 5oz glasses of Wine that I've never even of heard of before, (Used to be $6.50) AND THEN A 3% surcharge if you use a CC. A Fast Food Dinner, cost us over $80.00 for absolutely nothing spectacular / even remotely good. I'd think twice before spending your money here, I normally don't leave reviews, but this had to be acknowledged. I will say the service, was good and that is all that was good. read more

Manager here is terrible. I've been here twice and both times the bill has been wrong and it's more than a hassle to get them to fix it. Not only that, the owner talks to you like you should know the upcharges on the specials after the waitress sells you on special you didn't want to order in the first place. This establishment is a local pub style restaurant in Chesterfield. We have been there 3 times now and each time we say wow why don't we come here more often? The wait staff is always very receptive and helpful to our needs. The pizza is very good especially the burnt corners and ends. My wife is very fond of the perch fingers which are cooked to perfection and served with tartar sauce. Keep up the good work firehouse he will keep coming back. By the way the manager there knows the meaning of management, we were there one evening when they were quite busy and the manager actually seated us and got our water and took our drink order just so that we wouldn't have to wait. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT! My family went yesterday 11/25/2023 and there were 6 of us and a baby. The restaurant was empty during the BIG game and now I know why! The waitress DIDN'T write anything down and kept forgetting everything. When she brought the drinks the Labatt blue was flat and funny tasting so we sent it back and got Coors light and then she asked if that was what we ordered! We then placed an appetizer order along with our meals. We ordered 3 large pizza's and she had to ask twice round or square because she couldn't remember. Our appetizer ONLY came out because I believe the owner or wife of the owner was sitting at a table across from us and I said to my brother I bet she forgot to put our appetizers in and guess what she did! She brought it to the table and said sorry it took so long I forgot you ordered it and didn't put the order in. Then when the pizza's were ready one of them was wrong and she was arguing with the cook in the back. She gave us the wrong one for free so we could snack on it while we waited for the correct one to be cooked. She also couldn't keep up with drink orders and I had to go to the bar a few times to get beers. Mind you the bar was NOT BUSY!! She brought out pizza boxes and then we asked for lids for the ranch but never got those. I would not recommend this restaurant and if you can't remember order's please write it down. There's nothing wrong with writing things down and doing it right the first time. This was our second attempt at this restaurant and we will never go back. Save your money and don't go here! The mean streets of Chesterfield don't have much to offer outside the typical suburban fare (Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc), so this neighborhood restaurant is a pleasant change! This place used to be the Flying Machine, but sometime in the past 10 years, it was bought by a former (or current?) firefighter and re-christened "The Firehouse". I don't remember the Flying Machine, but I liked their airplane logo better than the generic flames of this place... But anyway, my family and I have tried several of the dishes here, and we've never been disappointed. The prices are reasonable, and they have especially nice specials in the summer when the fish are freshest. Many of the wait staff has been there for years, which to me is always a good sign. The ribs are great, the burgers are fabulous. The soup was delicious and not overly salty like some are. The burger itself was a bit overcooked, and had no flavor to it. I ended filling up on the onion rings I ordered. Overall it wasn't bad, just a few things that weren't to my liking. My group also agrees that the food was good. The only thing we all agreed on was the fact that we had about 5 flies circling around during the entire time we were there.
