    Pecan French Toast

Party of 6 : We were greeted & seated immediately upon entering on a busy Sunday early afternoon. After that we waited about 15-20 minutes before our waitress visited our table. She took both our beverage & food order at the same time. Food began arriving at the table about 15 minutes later. You could see everything was made for us with fresh ingredients-- hot & delicious! Although the waitress was a bit difficult to understand as she spoke quietly with the noise in the restaurant, everything we ordered came out correctly! We would definitely visit again if we were in the neighborhood!

    Little Friday Brunch! Yes please!

We frequently order carry out from the Garfield Cafe to our office for lunch and really enjoy the food. Today though, we needed to have a conversation outside of the office 's thin walls. Brunch is my favorite so when I heard they have mimosas I was definitely excited! The cafe is cute inside and clean. The service was great, and we enjoyed our brunch. Of note though. They do not accept American Express. It was a bit of a conundrum because my company card is American Express. No biggie I just used a personal card, but just an FYI before you go.

Oatmeal (Protein Breakfast) and Side of Whip Cream and Powder Sugar (Strawberry Waffles)

Realistically, I would give this a 3.5. My first time here with my mom and we were starving while trying to find a brunch place. The inside is very nice and spacious in which we were able to choose where we sat. Our server was very nice and helpful. I ordered the Protein breakfast which included 2 eggs, 4 pieces of turkey bacon, and oatmeal. My mom ordered the Bikini breakfast with egg whites, turkey bacon, and a side of fruit. Our waitress offered me brown sugar and milk for oatmeal which I appreciated because it made it taste better. We shared the strawberry waffles which wasn't warm so it didn't taste freshly made but it still tasted yummy. I'm not much of a turkey bacon person but it wasn't bad but my mom thought it was a little salty. Overall, a decent brunch place with many food options and the target consumers seemed to be more older people/families. That is to say the food presentation lacks aesthetic compared to other brunch places but not a complaint.

We have been coming to this venue for decades; this used to be a health food restaurant called Friar Tucks, where it was conveniently located next to a Weight Watcher meeting place. With all the competition in the area who can blame the owner for flipping this place to have a new modern décor and added incentive of offering alcohol. The wine and cocktail prices are excellent choices with fair prices. The inside is inviting with an option to sit at either a table or a booth. The new paint and decorations are easy on the eye and offer a relaxing vibe. There are a lot of choices on the menu, much of the menu remains from it's previous offerings (before renovations). The soups are rock-star delicious. Mom had the Chicken Pot Pie which was dry but she did have a side of gravy to perk it up. I had Fish and chips; the fish was soggy and so/so, the fries were crispy and hot. The silverware was nice and sturdy...not as common as one might think so I appreciated it. The prices are a bit high but not unreasonable given the inflation we have all had to endure the past few years. Overall, a great meeting place, good food, very nice spirits offering and relaxing vibe.

Spinach & feta omelette with tomato slices

We recently stopped at The Garfield Cafe for breakfast for the first time. It won't be our last! Service was friendly and quick. My omelette was perfect! I don't like heavy omelettes and this feta and spinach one was light and yummy! My husband enjoyed his breakfast as well. Portions were large and the restaurant was clean.

3.5 would be more accurate. We need to implore yelp to include half stars. This must be a fairly new spot. It's between 17 and 18 mile on Garfield road. No signage on the actual building yet that I could see. The place is very modern and looks updated and very clean. The food was just ok to me. I've been to enough breakfast spots now to be able to distinguish the difference between an ok to a great omelette. I ordered the Mediterranean, which comes with feta cheese, onions, spinach and tomatoes. And hash browns, of course. Nothing stood out to me though. There was no seasoning on anything inside. All those veggies were bland, unfortunately. The hash browns were nice and crispy and the pancakes/sausage that my daughter got were pretty good. So a 3.5 would've been appropriate. Still, always worth checking out to formulate your own opinion.

California Omelette; tomato, onion, avocado, swiss cheese, ham and onion. I covered the hashbrowns w/ Ketchup! D'oh! Side of sad bacon.

First, they did a really nice job on the inside. Looks very clean and modern without feeling stiff or uninviting. Service was fantastic. Our coffee was keep hot during our entire time here and our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was good as well. The California Omelette had a nice amount of melted swiss cheese and a ton of avocado in the middle. I expected to have one or two small slices of avocado on top, but this really exceeded my expectations. The rest of the filling/toppings were abundant as well! The hashbrowns were pretty standard, but cooked to a crisp, which is how I like them! The only real downsides were the bread and bacon. The "rye" bread for toast was very plain... Seemed more like a standard white bread as there was no rye character at all and it was very dry. See my photo; the bacon was very sad :( Very thin and very crispy. Didn't feel like quality meat and it was $5 for those few strips. I'm glad to pay up for good quality bacon, but this was underwhelming for a side... but I bet it'd be good on a burger! Overall, I'd say this is a nice breakfast spot, and we do want to come back for lunch or dinner during the week. The Old Time Classics part of the menu is calling to me!

Went back to have dinner. He had the meatloaf dinner, very good!! I had the chicken pot pie. It was ok. I wouldn't get it again. The mashed potatoes and gravy was amazing. LOL will be back to try more tho.. Service was very still great!

This is one of those unfortunate instances where I wish I could give a 3.5* rating. Everything was ok, but definitely not great. The place is loud, and way too bright, especially for an intimate experience after 8:30pm or so. We would have loved to stick around for another couple cocktails, if the cocktails and ambience were good, they weren't. The "craft cocktail" ol' fashioned was improperly garnished w/ a whole 1/4 of an orange slice, instead of the peel, it was improperly essenced, and had an improper amount of simple syrup. It was essentially a shot of bourbon with a cherry and an orange peel. Tasted terrible. The drink lacked all of the taste and trappings of the advertised craft "burnt sugar" old fashioned. Additionally, they use a 1/2 of an ice ball, which would not have been offensive, if the rest of the drink was up to par, but as it was, the cocktail seemed cheap and off-putting. 2.0/10 My date ordered a "figgy sweater," a citrusy cocktail with vodka, also off of the "craft cocktails" menu. Her drink had the opposite problem. It tasted like a lemonade with no alcohol at all, or watered down alcohol. She's a fairly lightweight that does not like strong drinks, gets tipsy off of two, and she complained throughout its consumption that the drink seemed weak and not worth ordering another. 2.0/10 We were both interested in another cocktail, but due to the loud nature of the place, the over abundance of light, and the poorly crafted cocktails, we drove to another establishment for our second round. Food ordered: Seafood Chowder - Great job, delicious, ample seafood throughout 9.5/10 Brisket Poutine - Good but it lacked cheese curds and gravy. 7.0/10 Beef tenderloin tips - terrible... the dish came out cold, we ordered the GF option, and the bread substitute was gross. The dish was overly salty, and the beef was way, way over cooked; not even medium well, most of it was well done, and tough; this was $30 wasted, we barely touched it and it's still in the fridge two days later. I'll likely throw it out. 2.0/10 Chicken Fried Lobster - nice dish, I hated the dill, but my date licked it. The dill aside, it was delicious; nice presentation, great tasting waffle, w/ well favored garnishes. However, the dish was barely warm when it came out, the ricotta/cream soaked into the waffle, and it was soggy. If it came out of the kitchen promptly it would have likely been better. 7.0/10 I'd consider ordering the chicken fried waffle again, but bad cocktails will likely keep me away. It's tough to pay $30+ in bad cocktails to accompany a $100+ meal. I'd strongly suggest turning down the lights after 8:30pm or so, and installing some noise canceling/light panels to bring the ceiling height down, quiet the place down some, and make it seem more intimate. The two tables opposite the the kitchen, in the damn hallway to the bathroom, should either be gotten rid of, made into high-tops, or install a lower counter-service along that wall for a "chef's experience." Those tables absolutely suck. We sat at them at our first visit, they tried to sit us there for our 2nd visit, but moved us after our objection. I laughed a bit throughout our meal as the people that were subsequently seated at those tables complained during their meal of the constant bumps, and interruptions that come with the territory. Finally, our waitress did a great job. The food runner was late on a couple of our dishes, resulting in cold food, but the waitress' service seemed great.

Everything tasted super fresh and the menu leans more "snacky" in the best possible way -- perfect little plates that are clearly meant to pair with wine. We ordered a few things for the table and it felt like the kind of place where you just keep ordering one more thing because everything sounds good. Nothing heavy, just really well done bites that let the wine shine. Speaking of wine, the selection is awesome. It's not the usual predictable restaurant list. There are some really interesting bottles and styles on there, which makes it fun if you actually enjoy trying different wines instead of just defaulting to the same thing every time. Service was great too. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, and you can tell the owners are really hands-on and working hard to make the place special. That always makes a difference. And the ambiance... chef's kiss. Moody lighting, cozy, stylish but not pretentious. Just good vibes all around. It's the kind of spot you want to linger at with friends and a second bottle of wine. Already planning my next visit :)
