Great location, great potential... execution needs a full reset. I really wanted to love this place. The space is charming, the concept is unique for Romeo, and it could be the kind of spot people rave about. But right now, it feels like a restaurant still trying to figure out who it wants to be when it grows up. Service: Our servers were mostly friendly. Long gaps between check-ins, mixed-up orders and outside of our group, a total of 3 couples at different times were in the place...so 6 people total from 6-8:30pm on a Thursday night. Food: For the price point, I expected... well, something memorable. Instead, everything felt a little tired. Not bad, just not good -- which is almost worse when the bill suggests otherwise. Romeo isn't a hard town to please, but it is a town that knows value when it sees it. Ambiance: Nice, space, genuinely. They've got the bones of a great place. But like the food, the vibe doesn't match the menu or the price. It's a little confused -- and honestly, so was I. Overall: This restaurant could be a gem in a small town that loves supporting local spots. But it needs a reinvention: clearer identity, better service flow, and food that earns the price tag. The renovations to the restaurant are a nice improvement. We went to see "The 80's" entertainment and the band was fine - nothing extraordinary but entertaining. There were no servers so you had to go to the bar and get your own cocktails which were overpriced. Prior to moving to the upper level for the show, we had dinner which was, again, okay. The filet mignon which was served with fingerling potatoes and garlic spinach was good as was the salmon. The hanger steaks were undercooked and the portion was small. The arancini was a disappointment. There were no peas or ham nestled in the center - it was just a deep fried rice ball with very little sauce. Younger's has completely renovated! The entire place looks totally different. It's beautiful and has an elegant feel to it. They have a lovely room that is all done up for. Christmas aa well. The cocktails were good and reasonably priced. Our bartender, Kevin, was great. We even went to the same HS, Although he was 10 years younger. Lol. Now here's where stars came off. The food. The menu was boring to say the least. Not a ton of options and nothing really stood out to me. We got a burger and the chicken. The burger was actually quite good. But the chicken was awful. It was pan seared in salt. I don't know what else to say. It was sooo salty! I love salt and often add it to my food. This was barely edible. There was a tiny bit of spinach and two tiny potatoes. Maybe three. I honestly should have sent it back but I don't really do that. I'll definitely give them another shot. But I'll order something else. Hopefully i can add stars back. read more

Too bad we can't do negative stars. This restaurant failed basic expectations on every level. We came on a Saturday having made reservations when we bought tickets to their Bob Segar Tribute show. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to reservation time at roughly 5:50pm, show starting at 8pm. We were seated immediately and our drinks were brought out in a timely manner. We ordered appetizers and our dinner selections at the same time, about 15 minutes past 6pm. 2 of the 3 appetizers came out another 15 minutes after ordering or at 6:30. By 7pm we ended up telling waitress to not even bother with 3rd appetizer. We did not receive our dinners until 7:40pm. Well 5 out of the 6 of us did. And 4 of the 5 were cold. After another 10 minutes of waiting for 6th dinner waitress finally came over and told us the missing meal had been accidentally sent out in a carry out order and kitchen was putting rush on replacement. At 7:15 we had asked our waitress to send over the manager. 3 times the waitress came back to check if manager had come to see us yet but she hadn't. By 7:50 we asked the waitress where the manager was because we were now on a mission to go to her if she wouldn't come to us. Waitress told us manager was upstairs telling band to delay show by 30 minutes because they had kitchen issues and people hadn't eaten yet. At 7:55 the 6th meal finally arrived. It took almost an hour and 45 minutes to get a cheeseburger. At 8pm when the show was supposed to start, the manager finally came over. She really didn't offer up an apology, just told us that the kitchen was overwhelmed due to the amount of customers they had due to the show. She also tried to claim that according to the ticket time we only waited 45 minutes for our dinners. As if that should be an acceptable wait time betweenappetizers and dinner. We know we placed our orders around 6:15, not 7pm. When we pressed her for a better explanation she said that the kitchen was too small to handle everyone who came in to dine. She was hesitant to offer up any comps or discounts claiming they were a family owned business and could not afford to do anything for us. When we told her that was not acceptable she finally offered to comp the 2 cheeseburger meals and offered us all free desserts. We accepted that and at 8:15 a server arrived with a single dessert with 6 spoons followed by the waitress with our bills. To say we were shocked to see a single dessert instead of the individual ones the manager offered was nothing compared to what we saw on our bills. The cheeseburgers were not comped, instead the bills showed a discount of $3.20. And the final insult was that one couple ended up being charged $13.99 for the dessert! We know we weren't the only ones experiencing these issues because the table next to us had been there almost as long as us and still hadn't received their food by 8pm. They even started going up to the bar to get their drinks because their waitress went MIA on them. When we finally made it upstairs we were disappointed once again when the bar serving drinks was staffed with untrained bartenders. Those of us who ordered cocktails ended up with drinks that we couldn't even drink. One was a Long Island iced tea that even after they "fixed" it, it tasted like pure lemon juice. No one in our group will ever go back to Youngers. They host these events almost every weekend and to fail to provide acceptable service, food and drinks is ridiculous. If you know you have an event and it causes this kind of chaos (which we were told by staff happens every time they have an event) you learn how to manage it. You don't continue to fail your customers. If you know the kitchen is too small, limit reservations and customers to the volume you can accommodate. Hold off on carry out orders that night. Create a menu with fewer options for event dates. Train and organize staff so that they can be better prepared. And finally own up to your mistakes and shortcomings, don't make excuses. Don't try to guilt your customers into feeling bad for you because you're just a small family business. Follow through when you promise to right your wrongs because failing to do so for our group just made us think the business is more interested in their profits than the customers. read more

Had tickets for tonight's Bob Seger tribute band. What a horrible disappointment. We were shown to our $25 barstools in the bar area, see photo. When I asked for other options and spoke with the manager, Stacey, we were told there was nothing that could be done. One of our guests walks with a cane and would never be able to sit on a barstool all night. They did offer to move the barstool to the wall outside of the restroom, obviously that wasn't going to work either. We opted for a refund but even that was not an easy task, we were originally told we would need to call back Monday to speak with Mary. We will definitely not be back. Emerald Theater is so much nicer and roomier and tickets are the same price. Where the people are lined up, there are barstools, those were where they expected us to sit for a concert. I tend to be a bit out of the ordinary. When I ordered my meal with unusual requests, my server did not bat an eye. He gave me a meal that was spot on. Now when I give a favorable review, I try to present something negative to balance it out. The problem is, I couldn't find anything wrong worth mentioning. When I asked the waitress where the bacon was she tersely replied, "It's in there." and walked away, NEVER to come back to ask if we wanted more drinks, or anything else. We came in a Tuesday night and it wasn't super busy but there were a few other tables. The service was slow. We ended up being there for an hour and a half total. My sister had her 5 year old son and had to leave before the checks came since it was getting too late and he couldn't hang. Anyways, my sister and I both wanted to order the mac and cheese but they were out. So I ordered the southwest chopped salad and she ordered a Cuban sandwich. The salad was good but not as fulfilling as the mac and cheese would have been; we had been told was amazing. She enjoyed her sandwich and my nephew liked the chicken fingers. They ruined a perfectly good Irish Tavern in the heart of rural Romeo with a up north woodsy feel and tried to make a more upscale gourmet restaurant/bar. The service was ok given they were short staffed but the food was so disappointing. Hanger steak started over salted raw and overcooked in parts. Arancini are just over fried rices balls tasteless stodgy and hard. The pork shoulder was dry overcooked and the meat was off. If was served in a puréed slop of sweet potato that had the consistency of baby food. The broccolini was the smallest floret on what look like the branch of tree ! The cheese burger was greasy and constructed upside down so all the grease of the burger soaked the arugula. Drinks are overpriced too. I've been here a few times and I want to love it, but it just doesn't meet my expectations. The beer is fine, but the food....well, that's a different story. My first time here, we both ordered a burger and mine came out very rare, even though I ordered it med-well. Don't get me wrong, I like my red meat on the rare side, but when it comes to a hamburger, it should be cooked. On this most recent visit, we ordered a chicken strip appetizer, and i had the French onion soup. They were both okay, not great. The best thing here, the beer and the whisky. The only way you can buy show tickets is online. Listed on their own website in the FAQ the question is " Is there a service fee for the tickets" The answer they have provided is "NO". I was charged an $8.60 service fee. I called to inquire. The Youngers employee told me they don't charge but a third party does, and that no one else has complained. I find this very deceitful. I will still buy tickets online because this is the only way you can get them, but shame on you for not clearly stating there is a service fee. read more

My wife and I went to Tilson Street last night and decided to have a bite to eat here, and unfortunately we sat at the bar and a far less then great experience with our waiter and food. The young man at the bar serving us was not interested in helping us and seemed more interested in talking and serving the younger ladies at the bar. Please don't make the same mistake we did. We ordered brussel sprouts appetizer because they were out of steak bites. Brussel sprouts were boiled and not baked very raw. Then the topper was ordering a medium rare Tilson burger and getting a well done Gordon food frozen pre made patty. The tots were burnt and the food was so dry we couldn't finish the meal. The Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese was amazing. Great combo of cheese, bacon and jalapeño creating a perfect sandwich. Hats off to the chef on this creation! The food quality is underwhelming at best and horrible at worst. I've had some burgers, fries and fish that were passable. I ordered a turkey burger there and it was completely flat, unseasoned and freezer burnt. The soda from the bar in my cocktail tasted old - like the bar lines weren't clean. In fact, the entire bar smells sour and dirty, which ruins the otherwise beautiful pub atmosphere. It's unfortunate because the servers have always been good. We came for a friends birthday. The room was a good size and had plenty of seating but was a main thoroughfare for outside seating. I went here for the St. Baldricks Goober and the Peas show and event. Goob was good as usual, but Youngers didn't impress me much. We were upstairs and it was dark and dank. It was dirty in there too, especially the bathroom. I can't knock it too much as this was the weekend before St. Patrick's Day. The beer prices were average but they didn't have any good flavors upstairs; we had to go downstairs for that. We didn't get any food so I cannot comment on it.
