Mission BBQ may be a chain, but the BBQ they are smoking is top quality!   This was the second year I visited Mission BBQ for Veterans' Day and I was once again impressed. The restaurant isn't just giving a discount to Vets to try to get more business, they are committed to celebrating Veterans and going all out. From the decorations, desserts, and overall interactions, Mission is the place to go for Veterans Day or any day.  Their brisket is delicious- juicy and smoked perfectly.  The chopped chicken sandwich was a hit with my wife. In addition to these two items, the sides are quality made- tasty fries, mac & cheese, and cheesy potatoes.  The service is always friendly and professional from the counter service to the managers who make sure you experience it top notch.  I highly recommend Mission BBQ and we are already planning our next visit. read more

WOW! I mean seriously this place is the legit. The barbecue was delicious, but the stand out of this place is the outstanding, helpful and friendly staff. We were first timers and Becky behind the counter took the time to give us the full run down with recommendations. The Mission BBQ in Berks and Lancaster County are good so I had high hopes for this location. I normally order brisket but they were sold out. Also the pulled pork was sold out too.That's fine, other meat options were available. I ordered the pulled chicken with mac n cheese and fries. I'm happy the fries were hot when my order was ready; however, everything else was plated before the fries were done. Needless to say, the chicken was cold. Even with it being cold, it was too tough...not the usual shredded chicken. Mac n cheese was good, but could have been better if it was served hot. My family got ribs, which they said came out good. The turkey had too much of a Smokey taste that couldn't be covered with the option of 6 sauces. I'm not in Harrisburg often enough but I'll stick to my local Mission BBQ. read more

Delicious food. I ordered the moist sliced brisket and the classic sausage. The sliced brisket was very tender. Just melted in your mouth. On the tables are the six bbq sauces you can try. I tried l all of them. The service was excellent. The young lady behind the counter explained to me the differences in how they cooked the meats. Love the decor. It's dedicated to the armed forces. I'm a big Mission BBQ fan normally. This trip was not great. I ordered a plate of brisket with a side of Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese and cornbread were good, but the brisket was horrible. It was super dry and tough, like the consistency of overcooked beef roast. I took it back up to ask for a new portion and the staff was happy to oblige. However, that new portion was not much better, they gave me the very end piece of a tiny cut of brisket which was half burnt ends. Didn't bother taking it back up to complain again and just left. I visited your location, with my family, for the 2nd time for lunch. Of course we returned because we enjoyed the food, location is clean, staff is friendly... we would not return if all of those boxes were not checked. But I have to say the highlight was Cherise! She was working during both of our visits, was great with food suggestions for us, and so sweet to chat with. Mission BBQ is located on Route 22 in the same complex as Giant and Value City Furniture. Went here on a Saturday and they were busy. The menu includes Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken, and other meat options. I went with the Brisket, and two seasonal sides, the Smashed Potatoes and Peach Cobbler. Meat Market options come with a piece of Cornbread. Beverages include Pepsi fountain drinks and various glass bottle beverages. Dining room interior design is heavy on wood grain and has a decent amount of seating. Considering the crowd, the staff were delivering orders fast. At the table they provide six different BBQ sauces as the meat is prepared in one style. I went with my usual Memphis Belle and Smokey Mountain flavors, as this is one of the few places that I enjoy the sauce offerings. The Brisket is tasty enough to eat without sauce. Both my sides were ok, the Smashed Potatoes have a decent flavor, but the Peach Cobbler could have used another Peach slice. I'd stick with the French Fries when eating here. Overall, prices are reasonable and the food is good, so I'll be watching for Mission BBQ's when traveling. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! What an excellent chain restaurant! Best bbq I have tasted in PA. They have a great menu, it's affordable and large portions. Employees were so friendly. I tried Misdion BBQ for the first time today. I was very disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. I got a sliced brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese side. The brisket was very fatty and the Mac and cheese had no flavor and was extremely dry. The sweet sauce was not good either. I'm from Oklahoma and this was the first BBQ I've had here in Pennsylvania. My last night in Harrisburg, I was looking to hit up Mission BBQ for some comfort BBQ. Mission BBQ is an East Coast Chain restaurant, this particular location is large and in charge. Walking in, the menu board is posted up high. There are sandwich choices as well as standard BBQ meat choice: Brisket, pulled pork and roasted chicken. My dinner choice was a two meat combo with one side and a drink. Of course I chose a sweet tea, which they make very well. I see all of these military signs and I ask this nice counterperson what does a military person get? I show my credentials and she said, have a seat and I'll send something to you. That folks, is just great customer service. My Que? On point. The brisket was moist and the Jalapeño & cheese sausage links were really good. I had plans to eat a $17 bouge burger at another restaurant, I'm glad I made the choice to come to visit Mission BBQ. I'm almost finished and was greeted with a carrot cake with frosting. I was told dessert was to thank me for my service. They also gave me a free card to come back for a sandwich? Mission BBQ, thank you for the excellent meal and dessert! If Mission BBQ served breakfast, I'd probably be there then too. I love everything here - from the brisket to the turkey, even the cornbread is good. I almost always get the turkey and then different sides. They have standard bbq sides - fries, Mac and cheese, coleslaw, etc. if you like pulled pork and you like coleslaw, get the pulled pork Carolina style. Also, no matter what you get, ask for the Alabama sauce (it's refrigerated so you'll have to ask). They also support local first responders and the military, so buy a refillable cup, it goes to good use! read more

OMG, if you need BBQ, do not pass up the chance to eat here. It may look like a chain option but it's tender and juicy, spicy and sweet, crisp and melt i your mouth just like you were day dreaming about! Get the brisket moist because diets don't work here, and the pulled pork is so tender there is no effort to chew!
