I had seen this place a long time ago on Pennlive. It had a favorable write up. I didn't realize it was so easy to get to. The employee who took care of me provided great service. There weee tables & chairs so that I could dine inside. However the chairs are kind of short for the size of the tables. The ribs were not very tender. I realize they need to smoke them at the beginning of the day, but they kind of tasted like they were sitting around all day. The house honey BBQ sauce was very good. The ribs weee not really served hot, nor was the Mac & cheese. The baked beans were very hot & tasted very good. I was disappointed with the ribs, other than the excellent sauce. I just got the impression that the dntire meal was reheated in a microwave, except possibly the beans. I would be willing to try it again, but probably would not get the ribs. There is a restroom, but it is not handicapped accessible.

Lunch in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania today was delicious! We got the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries and the Brisket Sandwich with awesome Mac n Cheese! The food was delicious and customer service was very good. Finding this place was a tiny bit confusing but worth turning around a few times to get there. The interior is rather small but they do have outdoor seating and it was a very nice day during our visit. Great stop if you're looking for delicious food and a really relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent meats and tasty sides; everything we tried was simple, straightforward, and well executed. There was a Cuban sandwich special for Father's Day which my husband found irresistible. The Hog Wild was well worth the price. Both sandwiches came with just enough cole slaw and pickles. We had beans and Mac & cheese as sides. I am often dissatisfied with the Mac & cheese at bbq joints. This was delightfully creamy and cheesy. The addition of tomatoes and bacon added texture instead of an excuse to continue eating. We intend to return to try the brisket.

This BBQ place is amazing. The portions are huge and the food is incredible. It tastes like the BBQ we had in Nashville. The atmosphere is super cute. You walk in, order at the counter, and sit either at the few tables inside or the picnic tables outside! We chose outside and our food was brought to us pretty quickly! We took the remainder of our food home and it was just as good the next day. They have 4 different bbq sauces and they are ALL so good. Definitely give this place a try.

Look for this shack from the Main Street

This place looks like it belongs in the far out countryside, but it's actually just off the Main Street in Hummelstown. It may not be easy to locate unless you know to look for a shack with red roof and a big black hog silhouette logo, behind some regular looking houses and parking lot. There are only 2-3 parking spots right by the shack, but I believe you can park in the lot behind the shack as well. Inside is an ordering counter with chalkboard menu in front of it, along with 2 medium sized tables and a short stretch of overhang along the wall. On a good weather day, there's a picnic table outside. Bottom line, not too many places to sit on a busy day. I ordered from the menu from their website which has "The Smokestack" for $12 (not listed on the chalkboard menu). I had thought it was a platter, but it's only a sandwich, so to me it's a bit pricey, granted they did give me a lot of proteins. Per the menu description for The Smokestak: smoked brisket and pulled pork smothered with Blacksmith BBQ sauce, with sharp cheddar, bacon, and pickled pepper and onions. Unfortunately, the pepper and onions were missing. That said, the meat was cooked really nice - moist, tender, and tasty. The bacon, on the other hand, was tough and cold. The staff/manager was friendly, and they take credit cards. The restroom was clean. Overall, a great place for BBQ.

[453] What can I say? Yelp got it right. We like trying local places for food when we are out of town. The chains are so eh. We decided to check this place out after Hershey Park since it had rave reviews. I'm so glad I did. It is about a mile or so away from Herhsey. Plenty of parking. The décor was super cool and well thought out. Out back you can see the cookers (smokers?). Outside they have about 6 picnic benches which are great. Inside there is also seating. It looks like many called ahead and took their food to go which tells me it's a local gem. We ordered half a chicken with French fries, half rack ribs and mac and cheese. Chicken was amazing. The French fries have that freshly cut taste which is great with some ketchup. The ribs were a favorite of my hubby's. The mac and cheese is a shell which cheese sauce tomato and bacon. We skipped the bacon. It was amazing that we scrapped the container. The staff was super friendly and took our food to use outside once it was ready. We left with our bellies happy and plenty of leftovers for dinner. When we are in the area again we will definitely go back.

Still the best Cereal Pa Q. We wanted to try Nomad, but apparently missed the train. And now that Camp Curtin is closed, there isn't any competition. Forrest's is great. The meats are tender and smoky. The cole slaw is yummy, and my daughter the pasta queen loves the mac. Sitting outside at a picnic table on a cool spring evening eating Q and drinking byob Dogfish beer is my idea of heaven. No. 1 with a bullet, guys!

In the quest for 500 bbq shacks stopped in at Forrest Feed. Fits the Bbq shack look perfectly when you arrive.Smoke coming off the two smokers out back looked a little dark but lot of things can affect that and had high hopes due to reviews and look of the place. Had to order a lot of food as like most goof Bbq you can order pork and brisket by the pound but ribs require a half rack and chicken was a half chicken.( did not get that was the half chicken was two qtr pieces not a chicken half) derive was friendly and nice So the real point: Food! Chicken: looked great but is warmed by finishing in the fryer and oil seemed a little old as it left a slightly off taste. While it looked great left me a little disappointed in the taste department. Scale 1-10 a 5. Ribs: nice neatly half slab looked a little on the darks side... again ok but not great.. but a decent value for the portion. Pork.. got a qtr pound and was moist and tender but my true test of great que does it stand up without sauce. This would make a great sandwich but needs the sauce and slaw with it. Brisket: again a qtr pound tender, moist but no bark and no smoke ring and needed sauce. Would make a good sandwich but not great on its on. I realize this is not Franklin or one of the great southern BBQ halls and it is hard to come by great Que in PA. So overall a good PA spot but if you are looking for top notch TX or KC style you will be disappointed. That said the worst Que I've had beats no Que .. to finish on a high note the potato salad and Cole slaw were homemade and quite good. Would definitely do a sandwich with the sides if I were back in the

Glad we didn't pass this place up. They had some great BBQ. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs were delicious, tender, and perfect kiss of smoke. The sides on the other hands were blah and used too much of one ingredient in each one. For example, the potato salad had too much dill, the beans tasted like it had too much what tasted like Worcestershire sauce, the slaw had too much vinegar, and the Mac and cheese had too much mmm mmm good. The fries were crispy and the sauces were well executed. Definitely will see us again.

The appetizers were well worth the price and were served pretty quickly! I had the Ahi Tuna Nachos and my husband had the Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts. We topped off the afternoon with the recommended pineapple upside down cake and didn't turn back. It was decadent and the prefect size for two. My wife got the same Chicken Salad sandwich again, it's still a winner, seafood chowder was satisfactory to good according to her, she took the balance back to our hotel & she had it in the morning as she had a early morning meeting & we had a microwave, she changed her opinion to great , saying it tasted even better in the morning I guess from it being dehydrated. Pretzel was great, I had a chicken pot pie which I though was ok, it was basically a chicken stew served with a puff pastry in there instead of the stew in a puff pastry, It tasted clean & light lacking body so I ordered a side of lime rice which worked for me. The star of this place is really their custom brews, I thigh think the food here is 4to 4 1/2 star but their brews make it a 5 star restaurant. Their birch beer & bourbon ginger are perfectly balanced flavor & refreshing & I also bought a bottle of their express Old Fashion to take home, 10/10 satisfaction. Even in you are not a alcohol consumer, the Location, atmosphere & quality of service coupled with good , clean food makes this a great restaurant. A definite must visit in Hershey.
