I usually rate higher than most people. I'm rating slightly lower on this one but it's still a very good spot. You can order hard or soft bread. I went with soft but it wasn't super soft. It might have been out too long. I also ordered no cheese and specified it three times but still had cheese on my sandwich. No big deal. I think sandwich makers sometimes are in disbelief that someone doesn't want cheese due to their own eating preferences. They did make up for it with really good pickles though. The sandwich was solid. They put a lot of meat on there and I can tell it's high quality. The chocolate chip cookie was also solid. Other than the cheese, the service was super friendly. I waited 20 minutes for my sandwich due to incredibly high demand (a good sign) and they are a very good and organized operation. Definitely recommended. read more

Just my opinion, but I will stay with Jersey Mike's. Went to this place for the 1st time and got a #8 on a seeded roll. The 1st mistake was the seeded roll. Not so tasty. My sub had very little lettuce which was soggy from too much vinegar, 2 sliced tomatoes and the bread overpowered the sub. Meat was OK, but very salty. I know this place has good reviews, but I will not be returning. I threw a good portion of this sub in the garbage. I'm sorry for the bad review, but Hoageez is not for my taste. read more

Ok honestly this place lives up to its name and claim to fame. Hands down an all around great sub! Best.Hoagies.Ever. After leaving a meeting in Hershey to head to my office back towards Harrisburg, I wanted to grab something for lunch that was quick and to go. I pulled up my handy-dandy Yelp app and looked for something interesting. After seeing a few options in Hummlestown, I decided to head that way and see what stood out. I saw this on the right as I drove into town, and it caught my eyes. I actually turned around and headed back because by the time I realized I wanted to try it, I had missed the turn for the parking lot. I am very, very glad I decided to turn around. Yes, the wait is extremely long. As a walk-in, I stood and waited over 30 minutes. There were only a few people in front of me but people kept coming. The secret appears to be calling ahead. They must fill the orders as they are received. My one compliant is I really, really wish they had told me the wait was going to be that long. Now that I've been there, I know I shouldn't stop when I'm in a rush. The place is super clean and orders are taken quickly. There are two dozen sandwich options and you can have them on a soft roll, hard roll (with sesame seeds), or as a salad. I opted for the hard roll (IMHO the only way to eat one) and the sandwich of my choice was the Yada Yada. They also have chips, pickles, cookies, and lots of Hoagees stuff like t-shirts if you want to show your brand loyalty. The sandwich was $7.99 for the full size and it had a good balance of filling to bread. The meats were great and I'm a huge sucker for sharp provolone (fortunately they didn't skimp on it). It was supposed to include a pepper shooter. Not sure if it's the plan, but it was only on one half of the sandwich and there wasn't enough shooter (there was only one quarter of the pickled pepper part - nothing else) to really get that spicy, vinegary taste in each bite. The veggies were very fresh. The bread was really good. You can tell the bread is from a bakery that knows how to make sandwich rolls. So, 4.5 stars for the food (I'm still miffed about the missing pepper shooter) and 3.5 stars for the wait without being told it would take more than 30 minutes to get a single sandwich. It was really annoying to watch people come in one after the other to pick up their called-in orders while I'm standing there waiting and not seeing any action. Parking was terrible. People using the laundry next door and the people who are just running in to pick up their orders randomly park because there is so little parking available. I had to wait for someone to move their car so I could get out and I still had to drive around illegally parked cars. Recommendation: CALL IT IN AHEAD AND HAVE SOMEONE IDLE THE CAR WHEN YOU RUN IT TO GET IT. P.S. I'm looking forward to trying the new one in Lemoyne. read more

First time visiting this chain sandwich shop and Im glad i found it. Very similar to Primo's Hoagies, which is our favorite chain sandwich shop. Small, no-frills shop with fast and friendly service, but most importantly, a large selection of hoagies, all made with various imported cuts of meat. This is what makes the sandwiches here or at Primo's a cut above the typical pizza-shop Italian hoagie. You even get to pick which kind of roll you want it made on: either soft (soft inside and out) or crusty, with a soft center and crusty outside covered with sesame seeds. Ill certainly be coming back here next time im in the area, or one of their other locations. Private parking lot shared with a laundry. Tried this deli because it gets good reviews but I was not a fan. I tried the diablo shooter and the quality of the deli meats used was not good. Some were very chewy and I had to take them off. Would not go back. I did like that they placed the cheese between the bread and toppings, seemed to create a better structure. read more

The hoagies are so filling and always fresh!!! They have a ton of options and some are just so amazing. My favorite italian hoagie from here has chopped pepper shooters on it. That is heaven, people. They also sell sides like potato salad and macaroni salad. Also really good and always fresh. Prices are fantastic as well. read more

We tried this place twice. Both times our orders were completed wrong...when we spoke with manager we got no satisfaction. In one incident we ordered a sub naked and explained in detail we just wanted extra meat and cheese only on a soft roll. This was read back to us and verified...when we got home from the take out we opened the bag to a container of meat and cheese no roll or attempt to make it a sub. When we called back they called it thier meat salad (is that a thing) and said if we wanted a roll we could drive back for a roll. We had just purchased 4 subs and this supposed meat salad with no salad for 80 dollars and they offered a roll if we drove back. Thier menu on line never indicated that naked meant a salad nor did the person who took the order who asked if we wanted the meat and cheese on a soft or hard roll. Verdict: That's a darn good Hummelstown hoagie. The Philly influence isn't lost on this Hummelstown hoagie shop. They get the rolls and pretzels from the Philadelphia bakeries and the locals are liking the offering this far west. A guy came in just to buy a few pretzels and I'm not judging him one bit. Looked at the reviews and opted for the Rocky, hoageez way, except no sauce. Great hoagie. Lots of flavor. Well made Philly roll (chose the hard vs the soft one). The sharp provolone came through and each of the meats did as well. The pretzel had a similar texture to a Federal Pretzel Factory variety. (one of the two most widely known Philly pretzels) I'm guessing it's from a place called Tasty Twisters but the girl there wasn't sure. This place is simply 5-stars.....need I say more... Just do yourself a favor and pick a sub, any sub and you will be blown away by the true flavor and freshness that explodes in your mouth. I went here once for lunch and tried the Diablo shooter and was completely blown away.... The next day I had the buffalo chicken and was even more impressed. The meat is all freshly sliced for each individual sandwich, not you subway prepackaged crap, or even your jimmy johns cut in the morning....each sandwich meat/cheese is cut right before they put it on your sandwich. The bread is amazing... Your choice of chewy soft, hard chewy, or naked. I had the hard bread both time, the sesame seeds on top just made it more awesome. The variety of sandwiches is mind boggling and makes picking the sub you want to eat sooooo difficult. The only warning I will give is that the line at lunch time is out the door and the wait can be about 20min....but a fresh sub takes time to make.....so bring your phone to play with and savor the minutes before you have the best sub of your life. read more

Only ate here once and I won't eat here again. I wanted 2 subs to go and I pretty much had to beg just to order. They would rather have you call in your order as they take care of call ins who come to pick up before they will even acknowledge you. Well I didn't have a menu and had no clue what they had. After standing there like a bafoon for 15 mins I said hello can I order and she said did you call? I said no. She gasped and said ok what do you want. Very rude. But I was hungry. Pretty good sub! I like the amount of meat that they put on the sub though the only complaint is that the crusty seeded bread was soggy . If it was crispy it would be 4 stars... People that complain about the Crumbs from a crusty crispy bread don't know bread and never had a good New York /Philly sub. read more

Very popular place, they use philly bread so when they run out of bread they close, so most days get there by 2pm, the meats are good quality, the variety is ok, could be better, the bread which is what makes a good sub, my wife loves the bread, for me it's a tad to dry, by the time your done eating you have a pile of bread flakes in your lap. But not bad enough for keeping me from coming back, if we think about it in time, it's probably the best sub in hummelstown. read more
