Cheesesteak with whiz and Cooper Sharp, and fried onions
    Gary H.

I love a good cheesesteak after having lived in Philadelphia decades ago. After seeing multiple posts raving about the "cheesesteak guy" in Lemoyne, PA, I decided to stop by for lunch today. Fair warning - if this is your favorite shop, stop reading now. While the place does offer decent rolls and uses Cooper Sharp cheese, the cheesesteak itself was a greasy, gristly mess. It doesn't come close to competing with the real heavy-hitters. Maybe it passes for decent in Central Pennsylvania, but it's nowhere near the level of the top-tier spots in and around Philly.

Nice new location located inside the West Shore Plaza in Lemoyne, so more open hours (Mon-Sat) and more room for tables and chairs to eat inside. Saw they just reopened on 10/17 so I stopped by for a quick cheesesteak. I thought I ordered a steak, Cooper cheese, wit (with onions) but there were none on the sandwich when it came out. Still very flavorful and the seeded roll (they ask if you want seeded or not) was great. Next time, definitely want/need the fried onions. Grease was not an issue as previously mentioned in my reviews. Well done and congratulations on your new store!

We decided to try this and we weren't disappointed. Service was friendly. Food was good. Fries were good. We got two cheesesteaks. Provie onions and peppers. Bread was good. Meat was good. Kind of expensive I thought but thats getting common. They have other sandwiches and onion rings too. They also give a ten percent discount to first responders and military. I hope it does well. I would go back.

    Delicious chopped burger.

Excited to have this place arrive. They were very busy when I arrived the counter person took my order quickly and I was told it would be 15 minutes. They got it done in 16 ( kudos for them). I got the chopped burger and it was delicious. I also got onion rings which were good but it was 7 rings for $5. For me that is too pricey for a side. I hope they put some chips in the future. The restaurant is a tight space. One of the mistakes I see many restaurants make is they bolt the table and chairs down. For the average person probably not a big deal but for us 6ft 5 guys not very comfortable. Also the chairs are tight. Should have a mix of chairs with no arm rest so us big dudes are comfortable. The menu has a good mix. I will need to try the other ones before I determine my favorite. For some reason my sandwich was not cut in half. Not sure if that is standard or just missed today. I wish sandwiches were maybe $3 less. Or I wish I made more money so I wouldn't have to worry about that stuff!!! I didn't notice if they had any specialty drinks or dessert. I do like when a sub shop has like a cookie or Brownie at a reasonable price. Parking is no problem. Not sure if they do call in orders. West Shore Plaza is turning into a good food destination. Gourmet choc, An excellent Chinese restaurant and Neato Burrito, and a diner. Maybe an ice cream shop would be good next. Looking forward to my next visit.

So we finally had a chance to try The Cheesesteak Guy out. Now I am from NE Philly so I'm hard to please when it comes to cheesesteaks. We ordered two cheesesteaks with wiz and a buffalo chicken with cooper sharp. I asked for all the rolls be non seeded but the buffalo came on a seeded roll. I'm glad because I think it works better on a seeded roll. The cheesesteaks were heavy on steak and cheese. The buffalo was loaded too. The steak is fresh and the rolls were great. The price was on point maybe even a little under for what you are getting. The lady who took my order was very nice and friendly. The whole experience was great. Best steaks I have had since moving out here. I'm looking forward to trying the other items on their menu. A+ TCG

Really good classic Philly cheesesteak with all the classic toppings at this spot good portion filling and a nice flavor, not overly overpriced like the joints back in Philly, friendly prompt staff, and a nice dine in area

Decided to stop by on a Saturday for a steak and a burger. 1st things first, the cashier, while efficient, didn't seem thrilled to wait on us. We ordered the steak and burger and as others have mentioned, there were several upcharges for the burger not indicated on the menu. I understand having to charge, but the customer needs to know that the extras offered do cost extra. Finally, it took exactly a full, solid 30 minutes to get the steak and the burger. They were both of high quality and certainly didn't skimp on ingredients. I ordered my steak with Whiz, and while I love cheese, there was too much on the steak. This made the roll soggy and the sandwich more messy than it needed to be. I also felt our meal was pretty pricey. Not sure I'd come back for a steak given there's an outstanding steak place close by. But, I'd definitely come back for the burger!

Y'all. Run, don't walk, to check out this spot. The food is amazing and the team is friendly and kind. I stopped by today to get lunch, and I was floored by the quality and value. I got the special, which is a Jalapeño Popper Burger for $11. The portions are great and they did not skimp on the ingredients or flavor. I can't wait to try out more menu items! So happy to have this shop nearby.

I've passed Watershed Pub a million times and never stopped, so when I met a friend for lunch, it…read morefinally felt like the right time to check it out. Naturally, I had already done my due diligence (read: stalked the menu for a full week) and had a game plan. At the top of my list? The deviled eggs and the Kale Caesar salad with salmon. The only problem...I absolutely did not need $40 worth of food for lunch. So I quietly spent the week putting "deviled egg energy" out into the Universe, hoping my lunch partner would suggest splitting them. Manifestation is real, people. I arrived around 12pm and found plenty of parking out back in Watershed's designated lot, which is clearly labeled--a good thing, because parking in that area looks like it could get competitive if you're not paying attention. We had made a 12:15pm reservation (Monday lunch felt safe, but why risk it?), and our table on the enclosed patio was ready when we arrived. It was the perfect setup--sunny and bright, but still warm enough to be comfortable on a chilly day. The vibe was great, and our server was even better--friendly, attentive, and consistently checking in without being overbearing. Then it was time to order. I let my lunch partner go first and waited... "Do you want to try the deviled eggs as an appetizer?" Are you kidding me?!. YES. Yes, I did! We ordered the deviled eggs ($11) to share, and I followed through with my Kale Caesar salad ($15) topped with seared salmon (+$13), officially completing my week-long menu-stalking mission. The deviled eggs came out FAST, and in my excitement, I completely forgot to take a picture--which tells you everything you need to know. Each egg was topped with a cube of candied bacon that absolutely stole the show. Sweet, savory, and just the right texture to complement the creamy filling. We made quick work of all four--excellent start to the meal! Not long after, our lunches arrived, and my salad? Gorgeous. Like, actually exciting to look at. I dug in immediately and it delivered. The mix of shaved brussels sprouts, kale, and romaine gave it great texture, the dressing was well-balanced, and the red onion didn't overpower the rest of the flavors. But my favorite part? The garlic parmesan crouton crumble. No chasing rogue croutons around the plate--just perfectly distributed crunch in every bite. Genius! The portion size was generous, too--I made it through about half before calling it and boxing the rest for dinner later. By the time we were wrapping up, the enclosed patio had filled up significantly, which tells me this is a popular lunch spot--and for good reason. The food is solid, the atmosphere is great, and the service was spot on. That said...$40 for deviled eggs, a salad and water is a bit steep for an everyday lunch. For me, this feels more like a "treat yourself," client meeting, or special occasion kind of place rather than a regular rotation spot. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I be casually popping in every week? Probably not. But those deviled eggs? Totally worth manifesting!

The moment you walk in, it honestly feels like you've stepped into a little café in Paris. The décor is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with elegant touches everywhere that make the space feel cozy but elevated at the same time. The staff was also incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The seating is mostly table seating (no booths), with a few smaller tables set along a hallway-style walkway that opens up into a larger dining area. The way the space is laid out feels intentional and well designed even though the restaurant was getting a lot of attention while I was there, it never felt crowded or overwhelming. Everything flowed nicely. It's colder right now, so their front deck seating wasn't open, but you can tell that when the weather warms up there's additional seating available outside on the deck, which would be such a nice spot to sit. The bathrooms are conveniently located right up front, which makes them easy to find. Parking is also pretty simple, there's parking available in the back of the building, and if those spots are full you can usually find street parking nearby. Here's what I ordered: Pistachio Rose Affogato * Pistachio Italian espresso * Vanilla ice cream * Crushed pistachio * Edible rose petals * Wafer East Coast Croissant * Cheddar cheese * Bacon * Spinach * Scrambled eggs * House-made garlic aioli * Served with breakfast potatoes My drink didn't just look beautiful , it tasted incredible too. The pistachio espresso paired with the vanilla ice cream was already amazing, but the crushed pistachios and edible rose petals really took it to another level. It was sweet, rich, and full of flavor. The East Coast Croissant surprised me in the best way. I'm usually not a big spinach-on-sandwich person, but I wanted to try it exactly as it's served to get the full experience. I'm glad I did because it completely changed my mind! Everything worked together perfectly, and the garlic aioli added so much flavor. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back. Next on my list to try is their Tiramisu French Toast and the Strawberry Matcha.

Knowing Father's Day would probably be busy, I decided to do my homework ahead of time. Before we even left the house, I used First Watch's online "Check In" feature to get our name on the list while we were driving there. The website estimated a 10 to 20 minute wait and instructed us to let the hostess know when we arrived. Perfect! Or so I thought... About 15 minutes later, we walked through the doors...into absolute chaos. The lobby was PACKED with people waiting for tables despite the fact that roughly half the dining room appeared to be sitting empty. I squeezed my way through the crowd, made it to the hostess stand, gave her my name and mentioned that I'd already checked in online. "Great," she said. "It'll be 20 to 25 minutes." Wait...what? So the online check-in that said we'd be waiting 10 to 20 minutes...didn't actually accomplish anything? If I'd known we'd still be waiting another half hour after arriving, we honestly would have chosen somewhere else that accepted reservations or true call-ahead seating. The online check-in created expectations that simply weren't met. About 20 minutes later, we were finally seated. Unfortunately, things didn't improve. We sat for another 15 minutes before our waitress stopped by to take drink orders. We decided to order all of our food immediately because we weren't confident we'd see her again anytime soon. Good decision! The coffee arrived fairly quickly. The water...tap water, not fancy water, not bottled water, not water that required any preparation other than being put into a glass bottle and carried to the table, showed up about 10 minutes later. Here's what we ordered: Million Dollar Bacon ($6.29) - four slices of hardwood-smoked bacon glazed with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne and syrup. This was absolutely phenomenal! If nothing else, order this (or learn to make it at home so you can avoid an excessive wait at First Watch to eat it). Sweet, smoky, just enough heat...this absolutely lived up to the hype! Power Wrap ($11.49) - egg whites, turkey, spinach, mushrooms and mozzarella in a sun-dried tomato basil tortilla with fresh fruit. The wrap itself was really good. The fruit was a mixed bag. The grapes were great, but the pineapple was still hard and noticeably underripe. At this point in the meal, I wasn't surprised and definitely wasn't going to try to get it fixed. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($13.29) - these were also really good. The lemon curd completely stole the show and made the pancakes. The menu advertised seasonal berries, which turned out to be strawberries. They were perfectly fine, though I probably would have expected blueberries this time of year. The Works Omelet (FREE BECAUSE THE ORDER WAS NOT CORRECT) - this was my stepdad's Father's Day breakfast. He ordered it WITHOUT onions. It arrived with EXTRA onions. By that point, our waitress had disappeared again, so rather than wait another 20 minutes for a remake, I flagged down another employee near the kitchen. I explained that we'd waited long enough already and simply wanted the omelet removed from the bill instead of remade. To their credit, they handled that professionally and removed it without any argument. While I had someone's attention, I also requested plates for the Million Dollar Bacon appetizer that had been sitting on our table for about 15 minutes and asked if my mom's meal could please be brought out since everyone else's food had already arrived quite a while earlier. Our final bill came to just over $44 after tax and tip. Even after everything that happened, I still left our waitress a 25% tip. It was Father's Day, the restaurant was clearly overwhelmed, and I try to assume people are doing the best they can with what they've got. That said...it was obvious something wasn't working. Whether they were understaffed, overwhelmed by the Father's Day crowd, or simply having an off day, the entire experience felt disorganized from beginning to end. The online check-in wasn't accurate, service was painfully slow, food came out at different times, one meal was prepared incorrectly, and our server disappeared for long stretches throughout the meal. Ironically, the food itself was actually pretty good. If I were reviewing only the Million Dollar Bacon, it would easily earn five stars. Unfortunately, restaurants are more than just food. For me, the overall experience matters just as much. There are simply too many excellent local breakfast and brunch spots to justify returning after an experience like this. I'm glad my stepdad's omelet was removed from the bill, and I appreciate that the staff made that right, but I left more frustrated than impressed. First Watch may have just had a really bad Father's Day. But based on my first experience, I don't think I'll be back to find out.
