Stopped in to shakedown BBQ on a Thursday around 1pm, it came highly recommended so had to make sure to stop in. Right off the bat I will say this is not the place that you're coming because it's Aesthetically pleasing but if you want some really good smoked wings this is the place to go! Tough place- food looks delicious but what they have seems to be inconsistent, went around 5:15 on a Thursday. Mom was excited for the turkey hoagie, but I guess turkey falls under bbq- which is only served on Saturdays. I was excited for the pigpen pulled pork or chicken caesar cutlet hoagie, but they only have seeded rolls- no option for non-seeded hoaiges except for sandwiches on their brioche roll. So no pigpen either except for saturdays since pulled pork is bbq. Interesting concept calling yourself a bbq place but only serving bbq on Saturdays. It should be advertised more clearly. Their pizzas looks good, but as I just had pizza yesterday, I was not in the mood. We opted to walk across the street and went to Beerded Goat instead. The man was kind when we asked our questions and even he joked, oh man 0-3. I will return on a Saturday to hopefully try the bbq or another day when I'm in a pizza mood. At this point I simply cannot recommend going here because of the inconsistency. Smaller place too with just a few tables, so not somewhere you can eat in with a larger group unless no one else is there. It appeared clean and they had a fun letterboard sign up. I know bbq can be tough to gauge since some of it takes so long to cook, but this was a total disappointment considering the word BBQ is in the name. I went on a Friday night for ribs. When I arrived, I saw pizza & hoagies on the menu, but no ribs. I asked at the counter & was told you can only get ribs by pre ordering them. She said they would make them & not sell all of them. I left without ordering anything. Plenty of pizza & hoagie shops around. Was a little nervous to try based off of some of the reviews. Got the platter with brisket (Saturday only I guess), turkey, pulled pork with Mac and cheese and beans. Total came to $36. Was really good and more than enough food for 2 adults. The top favorites were the brisket and beans. Definitely suggest going early, overhead they sold out of fries and turkey while we were eating. read more

Please just focus on sandwiches. They are incredible. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and by far the best in Harrisburg.

Best burger I have ever eaten I would highly recommend this to family and friends. This place isn't like any other restaurant that has drinks in the back that they have to go get for you you can pick your own drink from what they have in stock. They also have a claw machine. The interior is OK. Downside is everything is super expensive and when they are out they are out. read more

Ok, hear me out.....I'm gonna review pizza from a BBQ joint. I know, I know....pizza? Who cares about pizza from a BBQ restaurant?! TRUST ME, I never write a positive review until I've tried a place and their products more than once and had the same experience. This place's hidden gem is their pepperoni pizza. Their BBQ is great and their wings are top tier....but this pizza is exactly how we all wish our local pizza shop tasted. Talk about amazingly crispy little cupped pepperoni pieces literally covering the landscape of the pie, and the charred edges of crust that remain crispy even after driving 30 minutes to get it home. This pizza is set apart. You will not need to add anything (no extra garlic powder, oregano, Parmesan or even hot peppers) at all to this pizza. And it's huge!!!! My wife and I came here after running errands. From the well lit, but not blinding lights, to the decor, to the fact that they were playing pearl Jam's masterpiece album "Ten" i was excited. Then we got the food. I had the tres hombre, she had the down east. These sandwiches feature what can only be described as a symphony of flavor. My sandwich had brisket, pulled pork and bacon, and a fantastic slaw. Im always a bit leery of bbq sauces, so i got it on the side, but its sweet and smoky without being too sweet. Her sandwich had ham, pulled pork, onion, pickles and mustard, and she needed to unhinge her jaw to eat it. The fries were very well seasons and super fresh. Service was quick, excellent and they were willing to explain things to us as well. We will definitely be back. If you're near here, you should give them a try. My only knock is drink selection, but im not really a coke fan, so that's just me. read more

Shakedown BBQ is back! Same great BBQ, different location. Delicious, smoked BBQ, sides, and sauces. Arrive early to make sure they still have what you want. The line out the door at lunch time goes pretty quickly. Grab your drink ( bottle water or soda cans) while you are waiting in line, before you place your order at the counter. The food comes out pretty quickly. This is what we tried: 1/2 lb smoked turkey breast - 3 slices of smoked heaven The Big Jim: Brisket sandwich- piled high with lean brisket meat - chose your sauce - smoked to perfection The Pig Pen: Pulled pork piled high with slaw and your choice of sauce - amazing Sides: French Fries - average at best (sorry) but frozen, coated fries are not my thing Baked Beans - great seasoning in these BBQ beans Mac n' Cheese - tasted delicious, but could have been a little more on the creamy side Cornbread - great flavor, but a little on the dryer side Cannot wait to try the smoked wings! Hands down the best wings I've ever had. Hoagies are also very good - meat and toppings are in a perfect ratio, but the bread could be scooped out. A little less thickness on the bread would go a long way . I will ask in the future for the bread to be scooped out. The owner (I think?) came out and checked on us. Did not try the BBQ, but certainly will go back for it. Other than Jackson House, the best sandwich in Harrisburg. read more

I would love to review the food if I'd ever had any. Every time since they relocated, whenever we've gone there for dinner, they were out of food and/or closed. This is around 6:30 in the evening. I ordered pulled pork with both hot and normal bbq , cornbread & mac and cheese. Both the corn bread AND the bbq sauce were forgotten. The mac and cheese is pretty good I would say a 4/5 and the pulled pork is okay. A little dry. Let's be honest what is pulled pork with no bbq sauce ? A big disappointment. I tried to call and their phones don't work so good luck getting any help from anybody. Overall was a really cute spot and i love nothing more than to support small businesses but I cannot get over the lack of attention detail.
