Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, brisket, pulled pork, turkey
    Sarah D.

Was a little nervous to try based off of some of the reviews. Got the platter with brisket (Saturday only I guess), turkey, pulled pork with Mac and cheese and beans. Total came to $36. Was really good and more than enough food for 2 adults. The top favorites were the brisket and beans. Definitely suggest going early, overhead they sold out of fries and turkey while we were eating.

Best burger I have ever eaten I would highly recommend this to family and friends. This place isn't like any other restaurant that has drinks in the back that they have to go get for you you can pick your own drink from what they have in stock. They also have a claw machine. The interior is OK. Downside is everything is super expensive and when they are out they are out.

Shakedown BBQ is back! Same great BBQ, different location. Delicious, smoked BBQ, sides, and sauces. Arrive early to make sure they still have what you want. The line out the door at lunch time goes pretty quickly. Grab your drink ( bottle water or soda cans) while you are waiting in line, before you place your order at the counter. The food comes out pretty quickly. This is what we tried: 1/2 lb smoked turkey breast - 3 slices of smoked heaven The Big Jim: Brisket sandwich- piled high with lean brisket meat - chose your sauce - smoked to perfection The Pig Pen: Pulled pork piled high with slaw and your choice of sauce - amazing Sides: French Fries - average at best (sorry) but frozen, coated fries are not my thing Baked Beans - great seasoning in these BBQ beans Mac n' Cheese - tasted delicious, but could have been a little more on the creamy side Cornbread - great flavor, but a little on the dryer side Cannot wait to try the smoked wings! See you next week.

Hands down the best wings I've ever had. Hoagies are also very good - meat and toppings are in a perfect ratio, but the bread could be scooped out. A little less thickness on the bread would go a long way . I will ask in the future for the bread to be scooped out. The owner (I think?) came out and checked on us. Did not try the BBQ, but certainly will go back for it. Other than Jackson House, the best sandwich in Harrisburg.

Excellent Italian Hoagie with a Philly seeded roll and Sharp provolone. Thinly sliced deli meats and veggies were fresh and flavor was outstanding. Service was great and the restaurant was warm and welcoming.

Got a Renegade sandwich (Brisket, Bacon, and Jalapeños). Amazing sandwich! Definitely recommended.

Please just focus on sandwiches. They are incredible. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and by far the best in Harrisburg.

Why do they call themselves barbq? Their ads show mostly sandwiches and pizza. Terrible service. Staff rude

The Chili Momo was very hot. Regardless of heat level, the food was incredibly good. The flavor was off the charts. The Pork Kaan was so hot, it was giving me runway model lips. But it was still sooooo good. Smoky flavor, crispy/chewy texture, etc. The momo had a decent amount of filling and the dough was very thin. The samosa chaat was probably the lease impressive . . . but it was still good. The food was nicely packaged in metal to-go containers with plastic lids. It was already stacked well in a plastic bag. The price wasn't terrible. I was out of there for under $50 for 4 dishes. I only have one complaint. The guy taking my order tried to talk me out of the spicy and unique dishes. He said I wouldn't like the Kaan because Americans don't like it. When I said I wanted some dishes extra extra spicy, he tried to talk me out of it multiple times. I didn't mind the guidance, but I don't like the assumption that people like me don't like spicy food. And if I confirm I really do want it spicy, please don't keep trying to convince me otherwise. Despite having to argue for spicy food, the food itself was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. I was offered two small bottles of water to drink while waiting for my food to be cooked. Definitely a two thumbs up experience regarding the food.

This is probably the reason most entertainers and people of fame who come from Harrisburg move away and don't say they are from there But anyway... Me, having Philly family and being a Philly fan of everything, especially those Eagles (don't stop reading because of that!), I had a chance to get a cheesesteak from South Philly Hoagie, and let me tell you, I was impressed. The bread makes everything, and then of course the meat. I ordered mine with mayonnaise, cheese whiz, and of course, mushrooms. Now, I did order it through the Uber Eats app, and I wish I could've added provolone, but I never had to add pizza sauce to my cheesesteak until today. I'm glad I did! It made it pop, even though it was missing that provolone. One thing I do wish is that they would actually take the bread and get some of that steak juice right on the bun. Other than that, I'm not mad at it. Of course, it's not Philly. It didn't bounce me right back to the hometown of Will Smith, and it didn't have me saying "I'M A WORK OF ART." However, I was pleased and satisfied. Maybe the flavoring can hold me over until my next pay next week so I can take a train down to Philly. The French fries were amazing, if I must say. The sub was plenty full and had plenty of meat on it. If you asked me, "Would I buy this again?" Yes, I definitely would! And I would do it over-the-counter so I can have it my way, like Burger King! But this place is much more than beer, and I can't recommend it enough. First, there is a bar completely separate from the eating area, so you can choose what experience you want. Second, I've known that all their beers are top notch, which is why I wanted to come here. I'm not an IPA guy, but the black IPA is some top notch stuff that anyone can appreciate. Not super hoppy, really well balanced. Blonde stout is another superb creation, Lancaster gets some depth into it that many other breweries can't manage. Third, if you want food, they learned from the Food Network and limited their menu to just a few choices, all excellently prepared. I ordered the Angry Mac with gator meat. It had excellent flavor, they made it spicier like I asked, and unlike most places they provided plenty of meat. Great quantity and great taste that I wasn't expecting. I tasted my friend's polenta and it was perfectly balanced with some cheese, not too salty. I could eat that for days. Finally, Eva, our waitress? Wonderful. My friend and I were weighing dessert, we wanted a brownie but not the whole hot fudge brownie sundae. Eva made it work and even split it between heated and cold. What a great server. Props to Eva! To get this quality of food, this quality of beer, this quality of service, and this quality of ambiance all in one? No wonder my friend was willing to go two days in a row. I need a Lancaster Brewing in my town.

I was at their original location many years ago and loved my experience there, so when I saw they have a second location in Harrisburg while on a weekend trip to Hershey/Harrisburg in November, I jumped at the chance to have dinner and a beer there. The Harrisburg location is not half as nice as the original location, as it's in a fairly nondescript building on the side of a major highway. But we nevertheless had a great time there. Our server was Arley who was superb. My girlfriend and I both got flights. Unlike most other breweries I've been to that serve 4 beers to a flight and might charge extra for high ABV beers, Lancaster Brewing Co. serves 6 to a flight and only charges $13. That's a great deal in my experience. My girlfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the lamb burger. Both came out quickly and were top notch. We had a great time and would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again. In the meantime, I'll keep looking for their beers at the liquor store.
