    Pepperoni pizza (thin crust style)

Long hallway walking up to the bar with a few booths. Approximately 20 bar seats. Next to the bar there are 4-person high tops that could probably be pushed together if you had a larger group and it wasn't busy. Most chairs have backs but some are just cushioned stools. When the bar filled up a few were able to use those stools to add a seat or two to the bar area. Arrived around 4:30 on a Friday. They scan everyone's IDs. It became a little unclear sitting at a high top whether a waitress would come or not. A table behind us ended up leaving because no one came to them (even after it was clear waitresses were on duty.). Luckily our bartender was great and she just continued serving us because the one waitress went past several times without asking. It was fully packed by 6. Definitely a neighborhood bar type of vibe and you could tell some of the bar patrons knew each other. Knowing how smokey the prior bar was, this place is now non-smoking and you can't really tell it was previously smoking. Onesie bathrooms. Pizzas are thin crust style which is clear on the menu. They have both a food and drink special each day which is nice. Their ranch seemed homemade and was great! Originally they forgot the sour cream for the quesadilla but made eye contact with the bartender and she brought it over quickly. Hopefully they can figure out which waitress/bartender has what table so they don't lose additional patrons. Someone, maybe a manager or owner did come by to ask how the food was, which in my opinion is important to a restaurant overall, but especially in the early days. Overall, would return! I want to try their smashburgers next. Would rate a 4.5 if yelp would let me.

This is the amount of roast beef on the roast beef sandwich...and NOTHING else. No horseradish.

The restaurant itself had a few tables, a frozen ice cream box, video chance games, a huge rack of phone cards and several pictures decorating the walls. Most of the pictures depicted scenes from mexico, such as poncho villa, zapata, rural life, cows, etc... one of the walls was covered in mirrors and had a sombrero hanging on it. They have standard tacos at 2.50 apiece, chicken, beef or pork. We tried several of them. There was also a Torta for 8.50 that was pretty decent. There was some type of hot sauce (Valentina brand) here that that we put on it made it significantly better. The helado de fresa or strawberry ice cream ($1.50) balanced it out. We also had the Bistek Ranchero: it came with 6 yellow corn tortillas, onions, cilantro, beans, rice & lots of beef, mixed with red pepper. That cost 14.00 pretty decent if you ask me. What makes this place stand out in my opinion is the " tostada ceviche de camaron " or lime marinaded seafood salad on a deep fried corn tortilla. This item is occasionally also available at competitors but not nearly as good. 5 Stars, incredible food!

One thing that immediately caught my attention was the décor. Our table featured beautiful images representing Mexican heritage, and although I didn't get a chance to take a picture, the chairs also had some very nice carved details that added to the atmosphere. After ordering our drinks, everyone decided on lunch. My wife ordered the Taquitos along with a side of cheese dip, I had the Perfect Portion Taco, and our friends shared the Carnitas Platter. While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed the complimentary warm chips and fresh salsa. The chips were nice and warm, and the salsa had excellent flavor. When our meals arrived, everything looked fresh and appetizing. We all enjoyed our food, and everyone left satisfied with their meal. Overall, we had a very pleasant lunch. The friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and good food made for an enjoyable experience. Before we even left, we were already saying that the next time we're in town, we'll have to stop back for another meal. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area, El Rancho is definitely worth a visit.

I will still remember the time that I was so excited and felt a bliss of the taste of their Birria tacos as well as many of their signature dishes, such as the yucca and chicharron. However, if this were to be true, it's such a shame that a place like this would take so much advantage on people like that, specifically their employees. Fortunately, there are definitely other places that now do birria tacos as well as been noted for bringing authentic Mexican cuisine in the Harrisburg area (some even cheaper and taste better than this place). But until they get their act together, I cannot support a place that does not support other people.

Let me just start off by saying the place itself is beautiful, antiqueish like but also gave me Mexican culture to the max. Which I loved. I visited Mexico before so it definitely was nice to see that. Everyone from the host to our server were so nice and friendly. We loved our server, he kept us laughing and was great with his attentiveness to the table. The menu offers a lot! Lol from traditional plates to vegetarian options. I wanted to try something different so I picked the San Jose burrito. A burrito stuffed with chicken, rice, chorizo, beans and topped with a jalapeño cheese sauce.. it was beyond what I expected. It was so flavorful! Loved every bite lol if you come here, I highly recommend. Hubby got the Tacos Del Mar which came with three tacos. 1- shrimp, 1- fried fish & 1-seared fish. His plate came with rice too. Which I think is great for the price and the portion they give you. We also order table side guacamole because you always need to have some gua when you're at Mexican restaurant right?!?!! Lol. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff , very nice spot. Go check it out if you haven't.

Margaritas (both on the rocks and blended) were very good. The blended was smoother than any Ive ever had before. Chips had a strong corn flavor, but the bowl was half full for three people and had enough broken pieces to suggest we'd gotten to the bottom of the bag. The salsa was delicious, with just a hint of heat. Entrees included a Pizza Birria, which was like a quesadilla, but more interesting. The tortilla had a well-cooked look to it, the center layer of braised beef, cheese and onions was thick enough to satisfy even the hungriest. The majority was taken home in leftovers. Another "never before seen" items was the chimichanga -- available soft or fried. What? A chimichanga is a FRIED burrito. If its not fried, its a burrito. Which, soft in this version, looked and was delicious, but I'm still confused. Finally, my Chicken Mole Poblano. So Much Food! And it was yummy! Slightly sweeter than what I'm used to, but trust me when I say I scarfed almost all of it down -- without the tortillas. A great night out, I know more family will visit it this week. I think I'd like to go back.

Inside, the vibe is warm and festive: colorful artwork, low-top tables, a lively bar stocked with tequilas, and gorgeous Moravian star lights glowing overhead. The menu is extensive -- everything from tacos and burritos to rice bowls, full entrées, and massive multi-person feasts served in lava rock molcajetes. Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough. Bottom line: great food, colorful atmosphere, and a menu that's begging us to come back. Next time, I'm eyeing one of those lava rock molcajetes.
