I was in Maryland for a wedding in some random place called Cockeysville. My wife and I couldn't decide where to eat. I hadn't slept in over 24 hrs coming from the west coast. Finally decided to try this place and it was worth it. First, it was much more affordable than the bbq spots in the west. We ordered the black plate special and a 3 meat plate. The black plate special was a smoked ribeye and every bite of that thing was tender snd flavorful. Honestly, it didn't need the sauce it came with. For the 3 meat plate, we got fatty brisket, cheese and jalapeño sausage, and baby back ribs. The fatty brisket was definitely fatty, maybe a little too fatty for me, but great flavor and fat is flavor. The baby back ribs seemed more like spareribs, but tender with a nice bite, not too "fall off the bone". The jalapeno sausage had a nice snap. My favorite meat was the ribeye. For sides we got potato salad, cole slaw, and mac and cheese. All the sides were good, the cole slaw was refreshing and gave a nice contrast for the fatty meat. I wish they had rice though. Steamed rice and that ribeye would have been top tier. The staff are very friendly and they check up on you even though it's a self serve place. Sadly, I live in the west coast, so I don't know if I would ever be back again in the area. read more

Understandably, few places are ready to take an order that late- I apologized ahead of time and asked if there was anything left from the day that was easy. A date and time for delivery was established. At precisely the time promised Staci from Mission arrived with a car full of wonderfully-smelling bbq with sides. Tried this new location for the first time. Same great atmosphere as other locations, however the employees had to be some of the friendliest I have encountered. Table had a pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese, and 2 meat platter with brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. All the food was fresh and perfectly cooked. Sausage maybe a little too cheesy. We were staying at a hotel nearby on a road trip around the north east. Saw the good reviews and looking for something quick. My wife got the Salmon, she said it was dry and inedible, my son got the brisket which he ate because he was hungry but said it was fatty not much flavor. Mission BBQ opened its latest restaurant in Hunt Valley just before Christmas. We decided to give it a try. We were impressed with the exterior signage promoting "The American Way." We were warmly greeted at the door. The staff are always so welcoming. My husband had a coupon for a free sandwich and he ordered the moist Brisket. I decided to try the Chopped Brisket marinated in the Memphis Belle sauce. Both of our sandwiches were freshly prepared and delicious. They also were offering samples. We were delighted to have the chance to try the traditional Pulled Pork and the Turkey. The restaurant is decorated to honor members of the military and first responders. If you are lucky to be there at noon, you will have the privilege of standing for the National Anthem with the entire staff and patrons. read more

I have eaten at more that 50 BBQ places in the world and this one is probably the closest I have come to being able to experience multi state BBQ fare at the same location. Brisket is clone to Central Texas Brisket, Pulled pork matches the Carolinas, Turkey is moist and goes good with the sauces of each state and I like that the chicken is pulled rather than a quarter. We got two of the three meat plates and it was enough food for 4 adults and a hungry 1.5 year old. Service is fantastic and managers brought the little one a chocolate chip cookie (still warm) after he asked if it was okay. Better than 90 percent of the BBQ places you will find. Food and services are great However after serving 20 plus years active duty military I was truly taken back when I asked if they had military discount. The answer was NO., that I can sign up for a discount on-line. Whatttt!!!! You go by any mission Bbq and all you see is is military/police/firefighter decorations, almost sounds like just a marketing ploy to play on people's thought processes. It's not the food nor the servers but it's the principle behind the whole concept. Military discounts are offered at an array of other restaurants but mission bbq has definitely failed in their conceptual mission.
