This is my second visit and the first was excellent. My second visit wasn't nearly half as good. The pit master was having a bad day. I ordered 5 bones take out and the salt was off the chart. Absolutely incredible establishment. This place makes me proud of American eateries again! Here's why: This is the second Mission BBQ location I have visited while relocating to Maryland. Steps away from the Holiday Inn on Riva Road, this is honestly one of the best choices for a meal. Food is great. Very tender meats. Very good flavors. Excellent selection of sauces from hot to hotter (and I'm sure the mild ones are equally as good, for those folks who prefer the slow train to destroying your stomach). Now here's the BEST part: I called in an order 15 minutes before close, because sometimes I'm a hungry jerk. Not even a HINT of dismay of a late order, and in fact, I was treated better than I have ever been at an Annapolis food establishment for the 6 months I have been here. But wait, there's more: Every single person in this place was BEYOND helpful, (for a dopey tired chick), exceptionally funny, and just made me feel like I've been coming for years. I met Tony, who is running the show, and I have to give him major kudos for the epic staff he has, and introducing himself. I want to give a huge Thank You to the staff at Mission BBQ in Annapolis. I came by today, 9/11 and received a free sandwich, a lapel pin to remember today & a Thank you card for my service. The food & service here is fantastic; but it's the 10 seconds that people take to say "Thank You for your service" that I always appreciate. Love the bbq, for a chain restaurant they do a great job. Better than other bbq chains I've been to.

The food is good and fairly portioned. If I was feeling like having some BBQ this would be a good place to go to. The bug thing here is the quality is only good. The chicken is a little dry and when I get the pork it is way to shredded. The Brisket has been my go to but some of the cuts are way to fatty and definitely could use a trim before they cooked it. Overall just your average BBQ place. read more

I stopped in to Mission BBQ prepared to order some brisket, but was distracted and enticed by the black plate special prime rib. The staff at the counter where you order were very friendly and recommended the prime rib. Within a few minutes, my prime rib was ready with sides of beans, slaw, and green beans. The sides and sauces were awesome, well cooked and packed with flavor. There is even a special Maryland BBQ sauce made with Old Bay which was incredible. The Prime Rib though, it was not good at all, cold on the tray, tough, and with little to no bark or anything making it smoked. read more

My go-to place in Annapolis when I want fast, good food with great service! They are friendly and fast. The food is really good and I've never been disappointed. They will give you all the sauces you want. Not like the Panera Bread in Bowie Towne Center. The half yard bird is my favorite. The ribs are also a favorite. I've been to several Misson BBQ's and this was by far the best one. The meats was fresh and delicious and juicy. The sauces are always good. The sides fantastic here, too. I love how they cook the fries to order. And those cheesy potatoes are just, yum. But what sets this place apart is the staff. I have never seen a more proactive, friendly and helpful group at any restaurant. This is like eating at a 5* steak house. They even brought out a water bowl for a friend's dog. In typically Mission BBQ fashion the service is always amazing. I swear they hand out happy pills at the beginning of every shift or maybe they have an Ativan salt lick in the break room. Either way, I love the friendliness and willingness to make your meal one to remember. This location is close to the mall (at least i think it's a mall) and fairly easy to get to. The food is also consist with other locations. The jalapeño sausage makes my mouth water every time I think of it and the pork is something not to miss. Delicious! My boo and I ordered dinner from here and I got the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw and baked beans. The beans have brisket in them and were so good. They had just a touch of smokey flavor and I wish I had gotten a larger size. The pulled chicken was juicy and I added some of the slaw and three sauces on top. My boo got the half chicken and it was just as good as my sandwich. I would have like a lot more juice from the chicken or some drippings to soak the bun, but all in all it was a good dinner choice. Mission BBQ is always a solid place to eat. They never disappoint. Delicious pulled pork, pulled chicken, turkey, ribs, brisket and sausage! They also offer a "Black Plate Special" that changes every couple of months. I've seen themniffer rib-eye and salmon among other choices. I think it is nice to have a rotating menu item. They have great sides too. They offer cole slaw, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, Mac and cheese, fries and green beans. They also always have a seasonal side which currently is baked sweet potato. They also offer a seasonal dessert which currently is blueberry cobbler. I have also seen them have banana pudding among other things. It is a great military strong restaurant. They have the American flag flying high and really honor and highlight our military. We don't have one close by to where we live so we love coming here when we visit the Annapolis area. read more

Across the parking lot from my hotel was a strip mall. I crossed the parking lot in 20 degree weather to the smell of barbeque. It was like a siren's song. A very boisterous group of Navy alumni greeted me at the door. I ordered the ribs with scalloped mashed potatoes to go. My eyes were so much bigger than my stomach. I couldn't eat it all. I was given extra bbq sauce, tons of napkins, and silverware. They were collecting in a 50 gallon aquarium donations for the USO. It was more than 1/2 full and the night was young. We've been to the original location in Va Beach, where it quickly became a weekly standby; Downtown Annapolis, who cheerfully served our party of 10 when we arrived the hour prior to closing; and West Side Annapolis, where we stopped for post game eating. Both times I got pulled chicken and sweet potato mash, a seasonal offering. My kiddos got Mac n cheese and fries - standard fare for them. Yummy barbecue. I had pulled chicken..moist, delicious. Hubs had the brisket " wet" which was also moist and delish. Sister had brisket " lean" and while she proclaimed it yummy, she will ask for " wet" next time as it was a bit drier than she prefers. Sides: coleslaw, baked beans, Mac n cheese~~excellent! Only " complaint" ....a bit of heat in the potato salad which was delicious if not for that. IMHO some things need to be able to cool the palate when everything else has heat. 5 stars does not justify the experience I had today at Mission BBQ. My colleagues and I ate lunch here and I have heard the rave reviews and had to see what al the hype was about. The atmosphere was welcoming. I was greeted by a cashier who was very delightful. We then met Charlie, who educated us on the plethora of bbq sauces. After sampling an array of items from their menu I chose to order the brisket and pulled pork with a side of Mac and cheese. The brisket I ordered was moist and a huge portion. I recommend the smoked barbecue sauce for the brisket. The pulled pork had a great smoke flavor and went well with the bay bbq sauce. The corn bread was incredibly moist. The mac and cheese had a nice crust on the top. Charlie brought us some banana putting! It was over the top! Bananas lined the bottom of the bowl and it was topped with vanilla wafers. I will be making Mission BBQ a must stop every times travel across the bay bridge. Keep up the strong work! read more
