Stopped in for lunch the other day with my grandma and two cousins. I'm a little disappointed to say that I thought I'd like this place a lot more than I did. The restaurant itself is cute. It was nicely decorated for the holidays and I enjoyed that it almost felt like two distinct rooms. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. For lunch I had the meatloaf melt. It was fine. Nothing outstanding but I did like that they had a variety of side options. My tater tots were nice and crispy. The meatloaf itself was a little bland and definitely a bit burnt. However, the onion rings they put on top stayed crispy which overall helped the meal. My little cousin didn't like her hash Benedict. She thought it was a bland and "gooey". Overall, I'd go back to try some different items. The prices weren't astounding but I did think they were fair. The menu is extensive so I'm sure there's something for everyone as well. read more

Driving by on our way home and saw this diner and decided on a whim to stop in. We like to try whimsical diners and this looked like one. The interior is nicely appointed and looks just like you would expect a diner to look like. I was disappointed to see the lack of diner desserts in the display counter, but my disappointment was lifted once we had ordered and received our food. I had the skillet and my wife had the vegetable Benedict. They were both amazing! Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and more efficient. Highly recommend! read more

Looks about the same, some improvements & refreshed but still the place I liked & diner feel in the diner car area. I went early to beat the Saturday rush, but I don't know how many know it's reopened. The waitress (Madi) was excellent, service was fast, basic omelet & Texas potatoes & toast. I've never tried Texas potatoes so I can't compare, but they were kinda bland for me, I'll stick with home fries. Glad to finally go again to the diner. Nice changes to the interior. All of the wait staff were very accomodating and very friendly. A simile for everything. Every time I go to breakfast I usually get the eggs benedict. So, I ordered it. Recommendations to the owners, instead of the casserole dish, can you use a plate. Really mixed on Miss Mendon Diner. My wife didn't really care for her breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast and Texas Potatoes - pretty standard, how can it not be good?) and I thought my food was average (Avocado toast and a side of home fries). Not bad, not good. The home fries definitely needed to be hotter. I think what bothered me most was the portion compared to the cost. I got the avocado toast. $10.99 for ONE slice of toast and avocado spread? Even the seasoning was stingy. Our service wasn't that great, either. I will say that my friend enjoyed her breakfast, The Juliet, and her daughter seemed to like her pancakes. Might try a meal here again, but I am not sure I would go out of my way for it. Diner is now open! Atmosphere great, clean and ready for business. Unfortunately a lot of work to do on the service. Brought coffees without any cream so waited a while to be able to drink the coffee which was only luke warm. Waitress older and didn't know the menu so took a while to write down our order. Simple breakfast items but not very good listening skills. Pancakes were great. French toast was also great and had a nice touch with maple butter. I would definitely not expect to find a diner in the middle of a car dealer's lot. But here it is. My friend suggested this spot. According to her, the dealer bought the diner and moved it here. Well, if you like diners, and can afford it, why not? We came in for a ladies lunch and were seated in the back room. Entrance is on the right side of the building where the hostess stand is just inside the door and the restrooms are across the way. This is not part of the original diner, but built on. We were walked up a small ramp, through the diner, and down a couple of steps into another add on room that looks like a huge screened in porch with fans on the ceiling and plenty of huge windows. Wish I had a spot like this at my house. Anyway. Seated in a basic booth, the hostess gave us menus which we perused as we chatted. A waitress came by after a few minutes and asked if we were ready to order. We placed a drink order but weren't ready for our food selection yet. We tried to concentrate on the menus as she placed our drink order. The food did not rush out of the kitchen and it didn't seem to be too busy, but the food that we got was very tasty. First off I decided to spoil myself and got a milkshake. Ermagerd! This thing is SO yummy! Mmmm-m. The turkey potpie was my choice of lunch and it was also very tasty. Served in a bowl, with a puff pastry on top. There were chunks of veg and turkey in a creamy sauce that was flavorful without being salty. This dish was full of veggie goodness and I left feeling quite full. I almost didn't have room for that milkshake, but I managed to squeeze it in. :D I try to get something other than a burger or sandwich if the menu has an option that appeals to me. This menu has a number of entrees that I would definitely come back to try. Our waitress was very nice, personable and competent. The diner itself is a bit old, but the room we were seated in was very nice. The restroom is a single, quite large and clean. It's in an unexpected spot, but don't let that put you off. I've had many meals here, never had very high expectations (it's a diner in Mendon), but never truly been completely disappointed. The Mac and cheese lacks flavor, I think it's literally elbows and Velveeta, but they have always made it with buffalo chicken for me, even after it was taken off the menu, so that's awesome. The staff are always friendly and attentive, bathrooms and tables always clean. This visit I tried the flatbread, which they just started. It had nice flavor, however, it had too much butter. I would suggest less cheese, maybe small pieces of fresh mozzarella spread out over the bread, or even bleu cheese. The butter is delicious, but only needs to be brushed over the bread, not soaking it. The copious amuse of butter and too much cheese is what prevented this flatbread dish from being more than diner food. Next, while the portions are definitely generous, just like the butter, it's too much. The United States is already the most obese country on earth, the diner can do its part not to help contribute to it. The child's "short stack" pancakes are two plate-sized pancakes... as a grown woman that's too much for me to eat, let alone a small child... not to mention as parents it would have been irresponsible of us to let our seven year old eat the whole thing-- which he couldn't anyway. We will continue to come back, despite my criticisms-- in part because it's a sweet place to go, and also because we have self control. read more

Went in for late lunch, had ordered from the All-Day Breakfast Menu. The Corn Beef Hash was practically Homemade ( pulled pork & mashed potatoes) the rest of the fare was quite standard in the diner mode. Hours later ( not eating anything else) felt like i was pinched in the stomach, coupled with "running to the bathroom" Service was genuinely friendly, kind felt like a "Cheers" set. Another old school diner, worth the trip. Everything is perfect. Breakfast all day long, and terrific blue plate specials. The soups are homemade; also a meatloaf to die for! Daily specials are great too; a wonderful pot roast and they have a lean high quality boiled dinner. Spacious setting. Old school diner or you can grab a both or table; the place has always clean. Great service too, fast and attentive. Plenty of parking. Desserts to die for! Ice cream, cakes and a fantastic selection of homemade pies. During summer, they have and old British double decker bus that has more ice cream and you can sit upstairs and enjoy a view. Another good one. read more

We took a road trip here as part of our summer quest for best diner / breakfast food last Thursday afternoon. We waited a bit to be seated, mostly because no hostess came forward, but there were plenty of tables in the back room. The historic diner car is pretty cool and the backroom addition also has a nostalgic feel. The waitress had no problem with my adult daughter's numerous substitutions to one of their combos and, for the most part, it came out how she wanted it. (There was a $1 upcharge for subbing french toast for pancakes, but that was fine.) I had the veggie omelette which was stuffed really well. It had a lot of broccoli and I believe onions and peppers in it, plus the swiss cheese was tasty and plentiful. I generally don't eat potatoes, but like to try one bite of the home fries just to see what they're like. Theirs were eh. Just seasoned big chunks of potatoes. Overall, it's a cool place with good food. My one complaint would be that the wait for the food to come out seemed inordinately long considering that they weren't packed or anything. read more

Their food is gross. AND anytime we've been there and simply ordered eggs during a time that is not busy - you're STILL waiting sometimes over an hour for eggs?! Are they waiting for a chicken to lay an egg? What's the deal? And the toast usually comes back burnt. Don't get me started on if people in your party order something more simple than another's in your party, because the food you're waiting for many times comes out cold after that hour. But then again, not that surprising. They seem to go through cooks, and sometimes it's hard to get a waitress because they're too busy chatting it up with the car dealers of Imperial. I really wanted to like this place. It has charm, easy location, and I like that the owner went down a difficult road to preserve the building and move it to it's current location. Sadly however it just doesn't do much for us. We have tried a few different meals, and nothing has jumped out. Tonight I tried the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed and corn. The corn was almost inedible. Cold, all stuck together, and not cooked. Not sure what they were thinking sending it out, but I hope nobody else ordered it. The steak and mashed were nothing notable, it's packaged food, nothing original out about it. If you are right here, then give it a shot, you may do better. I have had my eye on this diner long before the construction started on the car dealership site a few years ago. Once they added the diner to the site I was excited to try it out. I stopped in one late afternoon and as expected the place looked great. I sat in a booth and was greeted promptly by a very friendly waitress that gave me the menu. I tried a tuna sandwich and a orange soda. hey..it's a diner. The sandwich was very large, fresh and good. I added a order of fries once I started (in for a penny ...) and the fries were great too. The diner itself was very clean and the tables and dining area were spotless. The only drawback which has nothing to do with the diner was trying to navigate through the onslaught of car salesmen glaring at you when entering the parking lot. Other than that the Miss Mendon Diner is a must stop when in the Mendon,Milford area. Try the Diner before going to the Mendon Drive In up the street. Talk about a fun evening. read more

My husband and I use to enjoy going to this diner but in the last few months it has gone down hill in quality, service & cleanliness. We waited 15 minutes after being seated before we were asked if we wanted drinks or were ready to order. The waffle I ordered was soggy and chewy like it had been sitting in a chaffing dish. The burger my husband ordered was over cooked to the point of being burned. The lettuce was wilted and the order took over a 1/2 hour to get out to us. We were seated in the larger dining area by the windows and there were a bunch of little flies on the window. Unless they clean up their issues i would not advise going to this establishment. Miss Mendon Diner was my favorite breakfast place hands down. We would always try to come on Saturday mornings for our favorite meal! Well our past two visits have been gross. There is such an abundance of big black flies it's easy to lose your appetite. While waiting for our food they were flying all around us and were on others backs ! We tried moving the sugar and syrup from our table thinking maybe that's what was attracting them, but it wasn't any help. We almost wanted to cancel our order. The last thing you want is bugs flying around while trying to enjoy your meal. If that wasn't bad enough I found a black hair in my poached eggs. It was a female cook that day. My wife & I heard about the Monday night special with the $5 Burgers! So we decided to check it out! It was well worth the drive! The burger was cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp, fresh vegetables, and the fries...the fries were SO GOOD!! Our server, Laura, was top notch! She greeted us with a warm welcome, and a big smile. We've come here many times over the past years since we moved to the area. It's an all around great place and I can hardly remember anything that would make me think negatively about this place. The food has always been to our standards, doesn't take long to get served, waitresses are attentive and nice. The only thing that I would say is that, we've started noticing that the older woman (Beverly) is not nice to the girls on numerous occasions. There was an incident just today that made the young red haired girl actually upset enough to go home. It's unsettling to be in that type of environment and I feel for the girls. I do not wish losing a job on anyone, but it seems this situation needs corrective attention when it starts to effect the customers. Hopefully she can work on being a better co worker. read more

This place was reasonable when it opened, but my last two visits were atrocious. It was this last visit that compels me to write. In the first of my last two visits, my son had a hot dog that looked like it sat in the steamer all day, and just didn't look right. The waitress seemed to know that, as she brought a new hot dog grilled on the flat top about 10 minutes later, before I even had a chance to tell her the first one was bad. But if she thought it didn't look right, why even serve it? 6 months later, we try again with the whole family, as the first place we tried had a huge line. My son's grilled cheese was cold, as were the sweet potato fries. The onion rings were clumpy and only warm. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries because what they serve for fries aren't: they are round slices of potato, rather than shaped like fries. That shouldn't really matter, but I don't know if it because of the oil temp, how they cook, or how they lay in the basket, but they always come out in a greasy pile, stuck-together and not at all crispy. But the worst was their hot turkey dinner. It looked like frozen dinner, right down to the dry rubbery turkey and instant "mashed potatoes." My wife ordered the gravy on the side, and even that was cold. This meal was abysmal. Dining with small kids doesn't always afford you the time to deal with talking to the manager though. So for an inedible hot turkey dinner, short stack of pancakes, grilled cheese, sides of largely uneaten and unappealing sweet potato fries and onion rings, I paid our $43 bill and left. We won't be back. It's a shame, since we like diners, and they put a ton of money into this building this one. read more

We got a gift certificate here when we bought our new car at imperial. I found this place to be terrible. My son had the kids chicken and fries, the chicken was the only good thing about the meal.... The fries looked like potato chips and they literally were raw.... I had the meatloaf which was awful. It tasted terrible and it was completely dry.... I didn't eat it. It was served with mashed potatoes and vegetable. It was a mixed veggie which was peas and corn and green beans.... The green beans were obviously left over from perhaps a previous days veggie as they were completely soggy versus the peas and corn which were okay -the frozen type..... My husband had the shepherds pie which he didn't like either.... I was nervous that some of the hamburger looked a little undercooked...... The floor under our table was ridiculously sticky.... We moved our seats because I think someone spilt like a whole bottle of syrup or something under the table. Service was mediocre at best.... Our waitress like yelled to us from the computer as she was putting our order in " do you want an appetizer". My drinks were left empty for the entire meal, as was my sons... I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant and I have returned several times, from the outside it is cute and appealing but the service and food do not match the exterior. The service is always pretty slow but the servers are always friendly. I tried this restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, the first night the waitress suggested I try the meat pie, it was obviously made way ahead and reheated and was really flavorless, bland and dry. The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular although the pancakes were delicious and the coffee was above average for a diner setting. They seem to really try for the old school diner feeling here, but the food is just average and the portions pretty small. read more
