Very good, old school, townie, breakfast diner. My kids and I love this place for breakfast food. Everything is done just right. No nonsense food, served by a great group of ladies with that old New England charm. Sundays after church, yes, there will probably be a wait and things may go slow. Saturday brunch... in and out with no problems. Truly a hidden gem, the quality of the food is very good and the prices are very reasonable. Great cup of coffee, never burnt and always fresh - not too strong or weak they get the grounds/water ratio correct. They ask how you like bacon, cooked to order; likewise, I had poached eggs and they asked how I liked them... medium and they got it right on the money!!! A cool, little, casual spot to visit. It's a place where the locals go. The ambience is pretty quiet with the occasional train horn going off in the background. It would definitely benefit from music in the background to drown out the muffles of the small tv. It is nice to see that they have a full bar- good to know. It was kind of weird that the one waitress was sitting down with her family and not really paying attention to the customers - something that could have improved. However when they left she was up and being attentive again. Overall the food was a bit pricey but that's the world now. The food was ok. The homfries were a bit large and had a different taste. I went to Depot Cafe yesterday with a friend. They have some really great gluten free options! They use Pamela's mix for pancakes AND waffles! They also have gluten-free bread and English muffins. I had the blueberry pancakes. They were delicious! Also tried a side of their pan fried potatoes, which were also delicious! My friend had the Texan burger which was a burger that also has pulled pork on it. She said the burger was juicy and delicious and the fries were deliciously seasoned. I have been coming here with my dad every Monday for a few years..I love it here. The home fries are to die for and they have egg white Omelettes which I just love. Everything is fresh and very affordable. Recently they went thru an owner change and it was a rough beginning but now Matt the new owner has made some lovely upgrades to the bathrooms and the decor and there has been no sacrifice to the level of food quality, flavor or quantity. They have this amazing fresh fruit cup for a very low cost. The muffins are yummy! This place will forever be in my mind as the place I got to hang with my dad in the golden years of his life and I hope we have at least another year together to do so, he is disabled but he can get in with no issues as of now. Food was great, service was terrible. Both waitresses ignored us when we walked in. We stood there for about 5 mins and then acknowledged a party after us as soon as they walked in. Eventually one of them told us they thought someone was leaving soon. We sat, and it was very few and far between when our waitress visited the table, and she also wasn't very friendly. Hopefully it was just us they didn't like and weren't that unfriendly to everyone that comes in. The Depot Cafe is just perfect! When you walk in, you are welcomed by the staff and can choose your table. The coffee is phenomenal (coffee can be a hit or miss at restaurants in my opinion, and it is absolutely delicious here). My boyfriend and I have gone quite a few times and have had a variety of food- everything tastes like a home-cooked meal! For breakfast, we have had the Irish Eggs Benedict (my personal favorite- freshly made corn beef hash over an English muffin with poached egg and hollindaise sauce), banana pancakes, 3 + 3 (perfect breakfast combo of your favorites), and omelets... yum yum yum! For lunch, we have had the cheeseburger club, THE REUBEN (OMG THE BESSSSST), chowder, chicken and dumplings... everything is so good. Kerrie and Pat are the owners and they take pride in their business. They come out and talk to everyone... you will also see regulars going into the kitchen to pop in and say hello. Nate, a cook there, will make designs in the pancakes for kids to brighten their day as well - I have seen flowers and Batman when I have been there. Too cute. This place is nothing special at all. My wife and I decided to try it since we live in Uxbridge and are always looking for those hidden restaurant gems. We went on a weekday morning and we're not impressed. The decor and general condition of the restaurant was old, cluttered, and somewhat dirty. There was one waitress working that morning. She was by far the best part of our experience. Very nice and personable. The prices were reasonable I suppose but the food was not very good. Amateur comes to mind. We could make a better breakfast at home. The eggs were overcooked, the home fries were bland, and my bacon was burnt while my wife's was floppy and undercooked. Overall, a disappointing experience. We were really hoping it would be better so we'd have a nice breakfast place in town. Guess we'll have to keep driving to Bellingham. read more

A 3 star review that should be 3 and 1/2... I made a recent visit to The Depot Cafe while visiting my parents. Choosing the Monte Cristo sandwich was a little out of character for me as I try to keep things simple at new places but I enjoyed it. The rest of the menu consists of pretty average diner-style items. Portions were good sized. The one thing The DIner Cafe could do for themselves to help out their business would be to provide a more informative menu. I requested syrup with my Monte Cristo and was pleasantly surprised to have either regular syrup or a natural maple syrup option (for an extra dollar). In addition, I requested a fresh vegetable with my child's meal and was also surprised that steamed broccoli was available because neither modification was on the menu or referred to in any way. In all honesty, that completely changed my perception about my meal; by being able to make the small changes that make your experience better. The Diner Cafe should find a way to publicize that better and I think it would dramatically improve their business. read more

AMAZING. COMFORT FOOD. AT CHEAP. PRICES. This is my kind of place. Really quaint, home town breakfast and lunch until 2 kind of place, reimiscent of my days working at Shady Acres in Foster. Yes, this is a diner, but with a semi large dining area. They took our table of 8 right away on a Sunday morning around 11 (wow!) with no complaint, and our server was very sweet and attentive. I ordered the 2+2, which included eggs, hash browns, 2 pancakes, bacon, and toast. The pancakes are as big as the plate, and I could barely finish it all. Hash browns are my favorite kind, the ones that are little squares fried up and delicious. Bacon was on point. The eggs (which I prefer over hard so that I can not eat the yolk) were great. Yolk was firm, eggs were tasty. All in all, this is a really great place, and just wonderful. I have a feeling I'll be making this a very frequent stop. read more

I had Irish Benny's on a Portuguese sweet roll and is was so delicious I pretty much licked the plate clean , the holindace sauce was amazing the hash was homemade and the roll was just sweet enough to absolutely compliment all the flavors . The wife had Belgium waffles which looked amazing and she loved them and my mother in-law had a simple ham and eggs meal with a homemade grilled blueberry muffin besides the eggs being cold everything else was awesome . The coffee was decent but plentiful but the star of this place 180% is the amazing home fries these little gems are crispy but soft in the middle with the just the right amount of seasoning that I couldn't stop eating them and I was even tempted to order a side to go so I can eat them as I drive home ( no salt , pepper , ketchup or hotsauce needed folks ) absolutely amazing home fries .
