Good coffee food is good depending on who is cooking . I personaly have issues with the inconsistency with the cooking some days . It depends on who is cooking . I will say that for me there cooks depend on the day sometimes there food is over cooked and some days there food is cooked just right . Do not let my review deter you from eating there . Stopped for breakfast with a friend around 5:30am on a Thursday morning. It was good to find a restaurant in Uxbridge open early. Inside is small/medium sized diner style restaurant with nostalgic decor. It was not busy with four patrons seated at the counter. Our waitperson person was adorable and very nice. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy with two scrambled eggs and hash-browns. My friend ordered the scrambler plate. Service was quick and breakfast arrived hot. The eggs were cooked to order and fluffy. Portion size was ample. The gravy was good and biscuits tasty. One recommendation would be butter and grill cut side of biscuits for more flavor and slight crunch. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and food. We'll definitely be back for the huge pancakes! read more

This was my breakfast venue for many years when I ran my near-by business, and I never had a bad meal. It was about the only restaurant where you never saw someone coming in with a dog in a baby carriage. The only animals were the ones on the menu. I saw a couple of complaints where they use eggs out of a carton? I think that's how they usually deliver eggs. I'm not sure the Board Of Health would allow hens sitting on nests on the shelves over the stoves. Of course, if they did; I guess fried chicken would be fresh. Awesome old school breakfast joint, sure some things aren't necessarily homemade and you can tell they use canned Benedict, hash, country gravy etc but it's still yummy. They do make their own chowders and calm cakes on Fridays, Ann's pies are amazing. Lunch is great, they make one of the best Ruben sandwiches ever. Lots of yummy food here, great company, friendly staff. Only downfall is the weekend staff is not great. Go when Ann is there on the weekday. read more

As someone that has tried many of the breakfast places in the area I would have to say this is one of the better ones. I ordered a Greek omelette it came filled with spinach feta and tomatoes, and it was fresh spinach. The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly and the toast came out as well as toast can come out. I wanted to update my review of Bert's because it's 6 years later, and my opinion of this place has only gone up in those 6 years! I also wanted to set the record straight on a few things. First of all, this place is CHEAP. The 3 $$$ signs on Yelp are incorrect. Bert's is cheaper than most, if not all, diners in the area. I honestly think it deserves one $ sign on Yelp. You can get a good breakfast with coffee for $5 or less here. Also they now have an ATM, so if you forget to bring cash, you're in luck. What I love about Bert's? Too many things to name. I've been coming here for 8 years and never had a bad food experience. The place is small, so sometimes, especially on the weekends, there will be a wait, especially if you have a party bigger than 2. But once you are seated, the service is extremely quick and I love how generous they are with the coffee. I feel like my cup is never empty! I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 mins for a table. My favorite menu items are their breakfast wraps, veggie scrambler, chocolate chip pancakes, and often they have great daily or weekly specials too! Their coffee is awesome. Bert's is a hidden gem of a diner. I've been to diners all over the US - NYC, all over New England, Texas, California, etc. Bert's has a special place among the best because the food is SO GOOD and consistently so too. After several visits for the past 12 months, passing on this option for local restaurants in this area. Food is Ok and the standard breakfast fare - nothing to write home about. Service is biggest issue - good luck getting prompt attention to have table cleaned for seating; or if want more coffee be ready to be wait a long while before rounds area made. For such a small place frustrating to see waitresses texting behind counter or socializing between themselves rather than provider customer support. Better options on the UXbridge downtown area or surrounding towns like Whitinsville. read more

Additionally the excellent food quality is matched with generous quantity the give you. Service here was speedy. The menu was full of variety and classics. I built my own omelette and was inspired by the Irish eggs Benedict. So born was a omelette stuffed with hash, spinach and absolutely smothered with hollandaise sauce. They are generous here and the coffee was great, too. read more

I'd like to preface this by saying I do not like human interaction of any kind. This place was a little strange to me. When we walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone. My wife and I debated for 2-3 minutes if we should seat ourselves, or wait to be seated. We decided to seat ourselves, or else lose a table to a more decisive customer coming in behind us. The waitress came over, and was very friendly. As I watched everyone interact in the place, I had the distinct feeling that my wife and I were the only ones there who were not related/from town/ regulars. Having a very sophisticated palette, I ordered grilled cheese, home fries, and sausage. Everything was ok.. No complaints. The home fries did taste a little like bacon, which was weird, because I couldn't find any bacon in there. I'm not sure how my wife's meal was, because we don't really speak to each other, and spent most of the meal looking awkwardly over each other's shoulders to avoid any eye contact. I used to live in Uxbridge and had coffee and breakfast there for years even before Burt owned it . It has improved greatly since Burt owned the business its Improvement with a capital "I" . His has browns are too yummy and I now drive about an houre and 15 mins. just to get WELL done hash browns . no Good hash browns here in Springfield. Ma. only fault I can find is Burt has a phobia of the dreaded Toaster "TOASTITIS" he passes it by the toaster , a bit on the light side. HEEE HEEE! Got YA Burt!
