Went to try Miss Crispy Rice and did the 8-course lunch this past Saturday afternoon. While I don't remember every single dish name, I can confidently say they were all amazing. The restaurant wasn't busy, so we basically had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel like a full personal dining experience -- definitely a little bonus for us. Every course was exceptional, but the crispy rice truly stood out... so good and 100% something I'll be going back for. I also loved the subtle touch of lemon zest on some of the sushi - it added such a fresh, bright flavor. The only thing I wish is that we were able to see the full 8-course menu listed on paper so I could properly name and shout out each dish in this review. She was making all the sushi for us and was very quick at it. I love that it really feels like an experience when you are eating there. I ordered the crispy rice flight and each piece was delicious and filled with flavor. The rice was crisped to perfection, I honestly could've ordered another flight but was full and didn't want to over do it but they were soo good. The panko shrimp was awesome and had so much flavor. Miami Spice menu unfortunately just didn't impress. Don't get me wrong, the $35 price is amazing, and for that alone you should take the chance to check out Miss Krispy Rice! Miss crispy rice has been on my bucket list for quite some time and although I haven't yet scratched their restaurant off my list I had the please of trying them out at the lunar festival in downtown. I got their salmon hand roll which was amazing and shows me the find the highest quality fish for their dishes which is absolutely important as I eat sushi all the time and even though the fish is suppose to be a garnish in Japan. Came here for "taste of Gables". I made a reservation and was immediately sat. This location is small, but the omakase bar is still nice. The sushi chefs were pleasant and talkative, explaining each piece of fish. it was $35 for 7 course lunch, and i also added on a hand roll and crispy rice. My favorite bites were the orange hamachi crudo and the scallop crispy rice. Their miso soup with the leeks and corn was also delicious. I added on the hawaian poke hand roll, and im happy i did, because i loved the sweet sauce on top. I was shocked at how much i enjoyed the panko shrimp handroll with the egg cream on top. It almost reminded me of egg salad, and it paired rally nicely with the shrimp. The fish dumplings were okay, just a normal dumpling. All-in-all really nice omakase for the price. read more

The food is fresh and fast with reasonable portion sizes and fantastic flavors. There's barely enough seating for 30 people, but most of it has a clear view of the sushi preparation area. There's paid parking for maybe 5 cars if the other businesses in the area are not being visited by anyone, once the construction clears. I've been to several omakase experiences, so I was looking forward to trying this one. I opted for the 14-course option, which is advertised at $87 per person. However, with taxes and added "fees," the total for two people came out to $230. While most of the bites were decent, I felt the overall experience lacked the sense of quality I've come to expect from omakase. That said, the service was excellent. They were able to accommodate my shellfish allergy without issue. My water glass was never empty, and the staff consistently checked in to make sure everything was going well. Had a really great lunch here. The food was super tasty. We did the Miami spice menu. The eel crispy rice was definitely the best thing we ate. The salmon with chili crunch was also super delicious. While everything tasted good we felt that the food service / timing was very rushed. When we had asked about ordering a la carte items we were initially told that they didn't know if they would have time to offer that because the lunch seating is only one hour. After the meal was done they rushed taking the a la carte orders without giving us time to look at the menu and they were quite rude about taking the orders. They also don't have any non-alcoholic drinks listed on their drink menu. Honestly they should give themselves more of a buffer between seatings. We left full, but not stuffed and it was a variety of dishes and flavors that all amounted to an amazing experience. Debra greeted us at the door and took care of us the rest of the time with refills and taking care of our every need. Miguel crushed it as the chef behind the counter. We had a great conversation with him and he & Debra explained every dish that was set before us. Miguel changed the handroll for my wife since she's allergic to shrimp, but it was still along the lines of the omakase and not a reach as a substitute for the during the courses. The seating before us were going over their time so we started off with drinks in the front entrance. Andrew made sure to let us know that we would be seated shortly, which we had no problem with. The food was incredible. We had the 12 course omakase for Miami Spice. From beginning to end, the taste and quality of the food exceeded our expectations. Andrew checked on us regularly and he made sure to go above and beyond for our first time experience. This included an exclusive menu item that did not disappoint. We came for the Miami Spice 9-course omakase lunch and prepaid for it, but left very disappointed. Service was rushed from the start. We had to ask for wine, no one offered another drink, and by 12:55 the server told me to finish my wine because they needed the table for a large party at 1pm. We felt pushed out in under 50 minutes. To make things worse, we only received 7 courses instead of the 9 we paid for. For a prepaid omakase, being rushed, underserved, and then hurried out the door was unacceptable. So turns out I wrote the below review for the wrong location - I was referring to the Wynwood location. However, I came back to this page because I went to this location last night and had a great experience. We did the Taste of Gables menu, which was an incredible price for the amount of food. I'll start off by saying we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, and though the staff and chef were great about it, it was still 30 minutes late and knocked off a star in this review. They made up for it with a rare sparking sake, and that was kind of them. The chili truffle salmon and citrus hamachi appetizers were flavorful and delicious. The beef dumpling was ok, and the fish dumpling was good! Nothing special. What really stood out to me from the entire experience was the scallop on crispy rice topped with uni - that was the best bite I had all night and was really outstanding. The bonemarrow on the latke was so unique! That was a stand out as well. The tuna on crispy rice is a classic, and very flavorful. The corn miso soup was cozy and a good way to end the meal. The deessert with the shaved ice is refreshing, different, and I loved it. All in all, the menu was much more elevated in this experience than it was the first time I came here, and I appreciated that. We had salmon crudo, 2 pork dumplings, 3 different crispy rice (scallop, Bluefin tuna poke & eel), a nigiri, a Japanese nigiri (torched salmon belly), a panko shrimp hand roll topped with egg tartar and yuzu drizzle, leek butter soup and pistachio gelato with salted yuzu topped with dark cherry shaved ice (OMG!) for dessert. My friend and I came here for Taste of Gables Omakase special, which it includes 12 courses for $60. I was beyond impressed with the whole experience. We made reservation for the 4:30 pm dinner slot and when we arrived, the restaurant was empty. It felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves. When we were seated they immediately gave us hooks to hang our purse. I loved this small gesture. Once we were seated, Chef Deborah started to make the courses and we started to eat right away. Everything was delicious and I would not change anything on the menu as everything went excellent together. This Omakase is non traditional as all the courses were not raw and fish based and I absolutely loved how different it was. The service was excellent. Chef Deborah explained every dish and converse with us even after we finished eating. As far as the ambiance, it was very clean and it felt intimate as it is a small place. I tried miss crispy rice on a Friday as it is located by the old eating house location. We walked but street parking is solid in the area. We did the eleven course meal for 70 dollars per person, which feels like a great deal. One thing I hate is that before, during or after, you never get to see the menu of what you will be served. We did eat the eleven courses and all 6 of us remained hungry. We ordered some extra rolls. I ordered a few of the signature hand rolls that came with toro and the wagyu meat that they overcook everytime. I ordered about 2 servings of 4 additional hand rolls and in addition to the 70 dollars per person, those additional hand rolls cost about 270 dollars. The quality is far from Uchi but the price is not. I found this to be very expensive and maybe not worth the cost. The service is solid and the owner is very nice read more

We ordered 2 different Omakase and also from the menu to try some things that were not offered during the Omakase experience. Most omakase options were the same on both things we ordered. But 1 brought a few additional plates such as Wagyu robata style and some Wagyu nigiri. Service is fast and very attentive. Every dish is explained and nicely presented. The ambiance is very simple... not bad, just okay. Prices are on the lower side of other Omakase restaurants in Miami, but that doesn't mean that it is inexpensive. I have been wanting to try Miss Crispy Rice but it's a bit far from me. I took advantage of coming here during Miami Spice. They had a 13 course dinner for $60. Good but not great. First course started off strong. Tasty sashimi. Fresh and served chill on ice. The dumplings were the second course and my guest and I were both disappointed. Not good. Next few items were nigiri but on crispy rice. Had a spicy tuna and an eel. The issue is the crispy rice was too tall. We had a hard time and would have had a better experience if they were flatter. The fish roe on eel was unique though and I liked it. The next piece was scallop with a small taste of uni. The crispy rice took over the taste here. Again, the crispy rice can be more flatter so it isn't a dominant taste. Next we had regular nigiri on sushi rice. There was no sauce brushed on these so we didn't like that. Should have at least a soy sauce or wasabi. The handroll that we had next was a shrimp tempura roll. Didn't exactly fit with a nori sheet. We then tried a beef and egg rice bowl. Beef had good flavor. The miso soup that came next had too much stuff in it. My guest didn't like it. They didn't provide us with a spoon so it was hard to sip it when corn was sitting at the bottom of the bowl. Last, we had an ice cream that was nice and refreshing. We thought they took too much time in between each course. The staff is also not fixated on customer service. For my entire seating, we were all doing Miami Spice. It was prepaid and tip was already included on the booking. The service didn't seem like they were on it. But they got the job done. read more
