Thai Red Curry
Lindsay L.

Wasn't expecting really solid Asian fusion in Kingston! They have a cute patio outside that wasn't too busy at all, and the inside is really cute. Their menu spans from Chinese, to Thai, to Japanese inspired dishes so we were definitely driven to try a bunch of different items between the two of us seated; three dishes comfortably fed us. We ordered the chicken karage, an assortment of three baos (crispy tofu, pork, and chicken), and the red curry. The chicken karage was quite standard with well marinated and fried chicken served with the standard mayo and bonito flakes; nothing special but definitely not bad by any means. The three bao sampler was a standout for me, with my personal favourite being the tofu and the chicken. The tofu was super crispy and paired well with their house sauce while the chicken had a fresh lemon grass flavour. The red curry came not very spicy but had a great assortment of fresh veggies and a large amount of rice. We also got the sakura martini which was a super balanced and floral drink. I also wanted to shoutout the rest of the cocktail menu which was fairly priced and had a great assortment of Asian inspired drinks. Overall good experience if you're looking to try more than one Asian cuisine in one sitting with a cool fusion twist. It's nice to see the Asian food scene migrating to Kingston and even better to see that Miss Bao is focused on sustainable practices!

Great food and ambiance. The booths and bar are beautiful and give a modern Asian inspired atmosphere. Surprised by the quality of food given it's broad range of cuisines though the menu is small

Although many breweries/brewpubs have leaned into the now-cliché industrial look, KBC looks very much like an old school pub. Its walls are covered in the paraphernalia of countless beer companies, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down with your people and knock back some pints. Going to brewpubs can be a hit-or-miss experience for my non-beer-drinker wife, but KBC's enticing menu has something for everyone. Also, their sausage rolls appetizer was enough to ensure that we were both eager to try out the pub. The sausage rolls are of the bite-sized variety and come with a tomato-chili sauce for dipping. The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. I enjoyed the juicy, savoury meat inside and the tomato-chili sauce brought some acidity and heat to the show. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes. As always, don't be too eager, as you will burn your mouth. Our server was very chill, but was still attentive and knew his stuff beer- and food-wise. It's easy to see why KBC is such a popular spot, and I'm glad we hit them up on this trip through Kingston!

It's great for small and large groups, for celebrations, for watching sports, and perfect for corporate events! Thanks to my friend for introducing this place to us! It was a pleasure to meet Chef Paulson and his team! Our server was also very friendly and enthusiastic ^^ I love the Asian-inspired menu; Chef Paulson is absolutely talented, and the food is SO AMAZING! I can't wait to visit again. I would recommend the following: Avocado Infused Hummus - The hummus was so light and creamy, and I love the addition of pistachio and pomegranate to this dish! The pita bread was also soft and fluffy Turkey Delight Poutine - Loved this shareable appetizer! Topped with braised turkey, fresh Quebec cheese curd, and crispy kale. That cranberry mayo was definitely chef's kiss! Seafood Linguine - Made with a housemade tomato sauce, and topped with fresh shrimps, Hokkaido scallops, and mussels. A very tasty entrée! Fish & Chips - My friend especially enjoyed this dish Seared haddock (instead of traditionally breaded/deep fried!), served with mushy peas (有驚喜!), coleslaw and tartare sauce. My friends also had the Itaewon Beef Burger with Fries and the Korean BBQ Short Ribs on Rice. Both very tasty according to them ^^

When we got there my friends did not have the ID with them which didn't allow us to get in, one of them had the student ID with their date of birth and when she went there to ask the guy that was asking for those he was rude and talking at her. We decided to have food outside since they had half price, when we sat we had to called the waiter because he was just ignoring us, I asked him about the wings, price and kind which he had not idea of what he was selling. So we went inside to ask for the menu since we didn't get any. The bouncer (the guy who denied the entrance and the one who yelled at my friend) he came to me (I had the ID) and start yelling at me telling me I can't be there because we don't have the ID and there is a bar, I told him to be more polite and talk to me better since we are buying food which he just respond screaming that he is the bouncer and we have to leave and doesn't matter that we are buying food. Awful experience, this was our first time going to that restaurant and this was the service that we got. These kids that were working tonight do not have any idea of customer service.

I've met so many amazing people here; from the regulars, to the employees, to the owners; they are such great people to get to know and to become friends with. When I wanna go for lunch or dinner or a night of drinking; I choose The Mansion. When I'm either drinking at home or out at other bars in the Kingston area I ALWAYS end up at The Mansion for last call. It's not only close to home; The Mansion is home.
