Came here with a bunch of buddies a couple of days ago for dinner. They have quite a bit of selection between your regular rice and noodle dishes to the individual dishes you would usually order alongside white rice. Definitely tough finding Chinese restaurants in the Kingston area and this place does an alright job at filling the void. Ordered the Fook-Kin Fried Rice and was immediately surprised by the sheer amount of frozen veggies that they put on top in the placement of the lack of meat. Apart from that though, the dish was ok. I would have liked more shrimps and pork in there but the taste was alright overall with the sauce. General consensus around the table was the same in that it's good enough to hold us off before going back to Toronto or Markham for some more authentic Chinese cuisine. read more

This was probably one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants in Kingston. They serve a regular menu as well as a special menu that is completely in Chinese. We ordered off of the Chinese menu and boy, we weren't disappointed. We got the "Big Plate Chicken" (新疆大盘鸡) which was a type of chicken stew, as well as the "Seafood Hot Pot" (麻辣烫). The chicken had incredible flavour and is best eaten with rice. It had a deep savoury aroma and was very well seasoned. I loved how tender the chicken was. The hot pot was deliciously spicy and very light. It contained mushrooms, calamari, shrimp, and other veggies. DO NOT SKIP THIS RESTAURANT IF YOURE LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD. At first glance, this looks like your typical Chinese-American, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork type beat kinda joint. Nothing wrong with that, but that's not authentic Chinese. To find the real good stuff, take a peek at the secret menu. It's not hidden, it's just in Chinese. One may assume the English and Chinese menus are merely translations of each other; this would wrong. The Chinese menu has so much more variety and interesting authentic dishes, like Xinjiang stewed chicken and stir fried tapioca cakes with vegetables and pork. The chicken in particular was amazing!!! Spicy and flavourful, tender and moist, with very fair portion sizes. The tapioca cakes were good, but a bit under seasoned. Can't wait to try more of the dishes off the Chinese menu. Super sad that it's taken this long for us to try this place, since we wrote it off as a Chinese-American takeaway. Gotta say I love this place. The food is top notch and the selection is about as good as it gets around here. When I moved out this way I got stuck in a time warp of 1980s Canadian Chinese food that got old real fast. After complaining about it to a young convenience store guy, he suggested I come here. Definitely happy about this. Working my way through the Chinese menu with help from the ever so helpful manager. And working my way through the amazing dishes that aren't even on the menu. Old school and no frills Chinese joint in Downtown Kingston. They have an English menu and a Chinese menu and the dishes coming off the latter are likely more authentic. But truth be told if you're actually Chinese and coming in you're a regular that likely doesn't order off the menu anyway! Lunch specials are hearty Canadian-Chinese fare with chop suey, chicken fried rice and a protein. Be careful with anything that comes in the red sauce as they're very heavy handed with it (drowning!) We loved it soo much that we took a detour from the highway on the way back and got a take-away enough to last us a week's worth of meals! The portions are huge so prices are very reasonable. But most important of all, it's super delicious! The General Tao is to die for! The schezuan chicken is amazingly spicy and well balanced! Ginger chicken is great, too! Well, where to begin. My first encounter with the seedy looking place, located beside quite a nice pub, was with my 12 year old Chinese son. My lad needed to pee. Upon asking where the washrooms were I was confronted with a loud and dare I say aggressive, " Washrooms are for customers only!" Well, in my mind, anyone who would deny a child a basic need, doesn't deserve my custom, or anyone else's for that matter. Ironically had the proprietor offered the use of the facilities, not only would I have likely returned to dine, but I would have probably scribed a more favourable review. I'm only giving it 4 stars because every other Chinese restaurant in downtown Kingston is a disgrace. They are nothing compared to the Chinese restaurants in Toronto or Vancouver. Some dishes are really good like water boiled fish/beef (they are spicy) and sesame shrimp. Some other dishes like Kung Pao chicken, I ate a bite and threw the whole box away. I don't know why but all the Chinese restaurants have very old and rusty decorations. They look dirty and nasty. This probably the best Chinese food restaurant in kingston. It has a wide range of dishes ranging from the traditional Canadian Chinese ( chicken balls, sweet and sour, etc.) to more exotic Szechwan. Ingredients are fresh and tasty, portions are substantial and the service friendly. Decor is basic and it is often full of students, many of the Asian which is probably a good sign. read more

Was refused a window table with my family (we were a group of 3) because they wanted to save the tables for bigger groups. The place was completely empty when we went by other than the family members watching TV out in the open with the volume blaring. We ordered delivery last night and it wasn't at all what I expected. We ordered: 2 spring rolls, beef almond ding, beef mixed vegetable chow mien, and honey garlic spare ribs. I enjoyed the spring rolls! Their beef in the ding & chow mien was horrific. I found it too soft (In a bad way), the texture was slimy, and didn't even seem like it was meat. Other than that the ding was fairly good, the vegetables were weird sizes in my opinion and some weren't cooked as much as others. I don't know, it was mind boggling. The chow mien tasted like seafood. I don't know if some sort of cross contamination happened, but the taste was very obvious. The noodles weren't fully cooked either! Like I don't know what was going on- I've heard such good things & that's why we ordered from there. I seem to have bad luck or something. Oh, the honey garlic spare ribs looked scary, but my boyfriend assures me they were actually very tasty. So spring rolls & spare ribs! I don't think I'll order here again. Food quality has gone way down in the last year or so... customer service sucks. This used to be one of my favourites. Between being overcharged and a completely horrible expierence with front house staff I won't be returning and don't reccomend. Find another place that doesn't hang up on customers, add extra charges on bill and go sub par on food quality. So many other great options in kingston. I'm rating based on service only. I ordered delivery and the person taking my order said that I had to pay the tip in advance when paying with a credit card. So I add $4 for tip. When my food arrives ONE HOUR later, I completely forgot I already paid tip and there was a blank tip line so I added another $4. In addition to a $3.50 delivery fee, I paid $8 tip for less than $40 worth of food! Bad on my for forgetting about the tip but I think it is very sketchy. Looks can be deceiving. This place has a sketchy exterior with a generic Asian restaurant interior but boy does it serve amazingly authentic Chinese food. I went with a friend and we ordered the pork belly and fried green beans which were recommended by our server. We are both Chinese and found that the food was both delicious and authentic. This is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in Kingston if you know what to order. I can't say much about their Americanized Chinese food though. The dishes are pretty cheap on their own but the prices can add up to be expensive. read more

I have never seen or heard anything like this before. First time in Kingston, first restaurant I've been to, I ordered takeout. On getting to the hotel i discovered no cutlery or any napkins. I called them expecting at least an I apology. Instead I was confronted with a question "did you ask for cutlery?'' I then told him it was takeout I didn't think I needed to ask. He then told me no you need to ask for cutlery. What a shame to have this disappointing experience. read more
