Foods good. I love their hot BiBimBab. Only problem is they need to update their hours. Everywhere says they are open until 10pm, Yelp, their website, etc. however I called at 8:45 and they said they close at 9 during the week. This is so far my FAVORITE sushi place in Boston. I have also tried Fugakyu, Ooishi, Mr. Sushi, Douzo, and live in Brighton, but will go OUT OF MY WAY... to take out here. Almost everything i have had here is delicious, the prices are decent, the ambiance is relaxing, the service is good... they never fail me take out or dine in. I have placed several bigger orders here for take out, and everyone always wants to know where i got such yummy, fresh sushi! Misono is perfect for the Chestnut Hill crowd. Convenient and they have a parking lot! They serve Japanese and Korean dishes. I had a sushi boat C which easily fed 3 of us. An assortment of maki rolls flooded this ship including unagi, spicy tuna, salmon with avocado and salmon with cream cheese. I also ordered my fav sushi: hamachi (yellowtail). I had no complaints about anything here. My friend said she always orders Korean Bibimbap here and it's delicious. Maybe next time for me. The staff was pleasant and the place was very clean. I wanted to do this review Long algo. I'm been coming to this place for a long time. I used to live at West Roxbury and love soups in general. Every day off I like to enjoy a nice spicy soup and when it comes to food this place is always good. My two stars are a balance between the food and the customer service here. Food is always on top and amazing. Customer service starting at the entrance is the worst. The guy who is always at the entrance have a very sour personality. He even look at people in a discriminatory way. He is not polite, no smile, no nice, no helpful. Someone like that even if you are the owner shouldn't work in a place where you have to make people feel comfortable of been there. There are so many competitors out there with great quality as well. A nice smile and making people feel welcome can make a big difference in any type of business. The same with the Asian lady who is not a waitress it help around like another boss . She has not people skills at all. If you guys are owners or friends with the owner this is not the right job for none of you two. I like food here but never enjoyed my food as when you requested some extra salad dressing, the cashier and chef would give you very bad attitude. I order Avocado Salad which mentioned on the menu that come with spicy mayo and cost $10.50. Imagine when you eat salad, most likely you love the dressing. I asked for on the side and got about 1 teaspoon. I told the waitress for more. She went to the chef, he said it just for DECORATION!! I ordered the food that I like to enjoy and love the ingredients in it! Oh..my goodness.. I felt this meal was terrible for Friday evening that I would like to treat yourself at the end of the week. This happened before when I ordered for pick up and the cashier didn't wnt to give me the spicy mayo. Questions: How much cost will it be for mayonnaise and hot chilli? It might have some special ingredients but I think the cost is reasonable compared to$10.50 salad. Did I ask for something that not put in the menu? Does Customer have a right to request waht you put in the menu or know that just a DECORATION for salad? I used to recommend the place to mamy friends but now I will not, and never ever going back again. I wanted to try a new sushi restaurant near my mothers in roslindale (I'll stick to village sushi) and I have never wanted to leave somewhere so fast. My wife and I were in the mood for Korean food. So why did we drive to a restaurant with a Japanese name, that has glowing reviews of their sushi, and offers both types of cuisine? Good question, lemme get back to you. On the advice of a friend, we came for some stone pot bibimbap and a scallion pancake. Both were decent, although the sauces were a little more bland than I'm used to --- they weren't as salty or as spicy. Red flag: no panchan, those small salty & sweet side dishes that bless a true Korean dinner. I had to pay $3.50 for a side of kimchi. Overall, our Korean food was OK and parking is a piece of cake. Its unbelievable how crowded and busy this place is, I dont understand how they are in business given the quality of their food. They have decent sushi, but nothing to write home about. I have tried many of their other dishes; mostly take out. It at least 3 occasions I couldn't even swallow a bite and throw away all the food. I am solely able to give a review based on customer service. As someone with gluten sensitivity (YES, it's a thing) I have to be quite particular when dining out. I am a HUGE fan of Bibimbap but it is super hard to come by...not wanting to be a pain in my server's neck I emailed the restaurant with my questions about the menu. I didn't get a reply email but a phone call, the manager took 20 minutes to go through all my questions.Unfortunately as the BiBimbap is not available gluten-free I won't be able to avail myself of their other delicacies....I would probably weep in longing seeing others enjoy it and a scene like that wouldn't be fair to other diners. 20 minutes from the manager is an incredible amount of time to devote to someone who is unlikely to become a patron. I have a ridiculous love for their teriyaki sauce- I find that many other restaurants make it too sweet, but not Misono. I'm also a fan of their sushi. The restaurant has served as a good place for my introduction to Korean food. I find that they're pretty accommodating about my sensitivity to spicy things, which is an attitude sorely lacking in many places. This is a neat little korean/japanese joint tucked into a strip-mall next to a Bertuccis. The ambiance isn't half bad once you get inside, with a small koi pond and an active sushi bar. It's about split between free-standing tables and 2-person tables up against a long bench. The menu hits most of the korean and japanese mainstays, and most of it is pretty good. The tempura is "meh", but the bibimbap and sukiyaki are both nice, and most of the noodle soups are solid as well. One thing to note: the portions tend on the huge side, so come hungry. The sushi is also very solid, nothing too fancy but very well prepared and tasty. I've never had to wait for a table here, it's almost never packed for dinner (lunch can get crowded because of the Harvard Vanguard center across the street). And an added bonus is you can walk down to JP Licks for desert, then hit Gary's Liqours (all in the same strip mall) for some take-home hooch. read more

We were visiting friends who highly recommended Misono for the quality of its food. I must tell you that the two dishes we had were terrible. We dine regularly at various Asian restaurants in this by far was one of the worst. When you order a pad Thai dish with vegetables you would think you would see pieces of vegetables on a bed of what normally come as long pad Thai noodles. Instead, there was a little evidence of vegetables on a bed of chopped up rice noodles. The taste was awful and suffice to say we will never go there again. read more

Yum. My. I've stopped here periodically for sushi take out and it was delicious, but on December 7, my birthday, I decided this is where my boyfriend would go for a nice dine-in sushi gorge-fest. The sushi was oh-so-delicious. We got the scallop sushi appetizer, the Hurricane Roll, the Firecracker Roll, Uni, Beantown Roll, and one other roll I can't remember right now but the fish was FRESH, the rolls were TASTY and the presentation was delightful. My boyfriend also got the hot and sour soup, which had a healthy aount of shrimp, and really cleared out the sinuses, if you know what I mean. Returned to Misono Saturday night after a long hiatus. No wait as usual at 7:30PM. It looks like the lobster explosion roll has indeed returned! I ordered the explosion and go green rolls. My got the celebration and another specialty roll. I think it was good that the server informed us that the sushi bar was backed up. I had no issue with waiting as long as I was informed. Rolls were good. I think the coconut pieces on the lobster explosion was a bit stale. Good rolls as usual. The server was pretty attentive refilling our waters often. read more

We ordered our usual things, salmon sashimi, ikura sushi, spicy tuna rolls, etc. Unfortunately, it was awful. Old fish is never good. Given past experience, we gave it another try. I have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed in the food or service. I've been at all times of day and Misono somehow has hit that sweet spot where it's always at least half full (usually more) but also almost never has a wait. I've tried all of the veg/vegan maki and nigiri options (there are more here than many other sushi places) and they're all great- my favorite is the green roll. I've even had a few noodle dishes here and they were great too, which is nice because that can be hit or miss at primarily sushi restaurants. Everything here is always fresh and tasty. read more

What the hell happened? I grew up on this place and the food was always great. I just ordered to go and like whiplash I am feeling a hit to the back of the head. Ready to puke up some bland off white seafood? No mussels for me my friend. The past few times that I have had food from here it has just been okay. Tonight just killed it. Oyster Katsu... tastes off like the water in Boston Harbor. Octopus was like Bazooka Joe bubble gum, veggies... eh. Waste of money and a huge disappointment for the third return visit. Went to Misono with a friend the other night. We live in JP, so we almost always eat JP Seafood (because it's awesome and delivers to our house), but we were out running errands and decided to try something new. The parking situation is awesome. There's a giant lot for this strip mall. The decor inside is very nice- there's a koi pond. We were seated right away, and the restaurant was 75% full on a Monday night. The menu is quite extensive and EXPENSIVE. There's a whole page of special maki rolls, and the cheapest one is $12. We ordered a $6 seaweed salad to share- which came out looking gigantic, but it turned out the whole bottom half of the bowl was shredded daikon radish. It still was quite a bit of seaweed. I ordered the special $13 sweetheart roll (sweet potato tempura with white tuna on top) and a $5 green roll (avocado and spinach). They were both VERY good. My friend ordered the bulgogi korean barbecue. I didn't try it, but he said the sweet BBQ sauce was really good, the beef was cooked to perfection, and the noodles were tasty. He felt it lacked enough vegetables, but that was really the only complaint. The one REALLY bad thing about our experience was that they brought out my two rolls, and then my friend's meal didn't come out for 10 whole minutes after that! It was really sucky. Had such a horrible experience at Misono. We came in and sat down for dinner at 6:10. The waitress came to ask us if we are ready to order before we could open the menu. When we did order, we slowly received our appetizers that took about 30mins apart. By 7:10pm, we were all hungry and still did not receive our dinner. I called to ask our waitress where was the food and when would it come. She told us that hey had many take out orders -- which angered even more when we were also her customers who sat in front of her and yet our food has never came out. 15mins went by still no food. By the time the food time did arrive. I wanted to vomit looking at my gross plate of pad Thai. The noddles were soggy and wet with fish sauce. The tofu was wet and unappealing, sprinkled with peanut, there were no bean sprouts, nor any other ingredients to make it presentable. 1 hour and 15mins wait for a plate of vomit pad Thai is my last straw to this place. I never touched more than two bites of the pad Thai and asked her to throw it away. Never again Misono. You lost a customer. read more

Based on these other reviews, maybe I need to give it one more try, but I'm really not inclined to try any more sushi. The fish didn't seem extremely fresh (salmon should not look like gray jelly), and the cucumbers in both of my rolls were soggy and looked rotten. The rolls were not even rolled well - they all fell apart. The upside, I guess, is that the price was pretty low (lunch special - two rolls and miso soup for under $10) and I only feel a little ill as a result. read more

Really delicious food and friendly service -- also, my mom is a regular here, and despite having a tricky time digesting a lot of Asian food, she really loves it. The location is surprising, in the Hancock Village strip mall on VFW, but don't let it deter you from some really first rate food. My only complaint is that there is a really awesome fish pond inside the restaurant, which is a huge attraction for a lot of kids. The restaurant itself is pretty quiet and chill, and it bugs me when some families show up an their kids run around making a ton of noise. I wish that the staff would be more proactive in keeping the atmosphere nice for other diners. read more

I'm obsessed with the Yaki Udon. The Beef negima is really good too. The oyster Katsu was BOMB when I had it last as well. I am not a sushi guy, but definitely an asian food guy. This place is somewhat expensive ($9-12 for my udon dish depending on the time of day). Let me put it this way: If I could pay a $50 monthly membership to have all the Udon I can handle, I would do it twice over. Plus the place is 2 mins down the road from my house. Fresh sushi, creative maki rolls, and korean kalbi that is bomb dot com. The kalbi was some of the best ribs I've ever had, and this is a sushi place. Whaat? Misono, you sneaky little thing. Who knew you were such a good multitasker. One of my favorite rolls is the fried oyster maki. Pair that with some of their fresh ginger and hot green tea, and you got a killer meal. On top of that, servers are knowledgeable and attentive, and I love the little koi pond in the front. A great place for family or even a casual date night. Misono, you got everything. I was having a crazy craving for soondubu jji-gae and saw that this place was about 10 miles from me and they have the stew. They are located in a small mall with ample parking. The ambiance is nice in there and the service great. I ordered my seafood and pork soondubu without the seafood but extra tofu for lunch. It came with a side of rice and some bachans (side dishes). It was delicious and really hits the spot. For $9.95, it was well worth it because I couldn't finish the stone pot. Tofu was so flavorful, spicy broth perfect and the pork was nice and tender. My boyfriend and I live about 8 minutes from Misono, so we frequent it very often (at least once a week), as well as order take-out. Wouldn't go so often if we didn't love it so much. Everyone is really friendly there and very happy to help. The sushi is fantastic, I have yet to have a bad meal. Huge fan of toro and try to get it every time it's up on the board. I am also sort of a pain in ass to sushi establishments because most rolls come with avocado, and I am allergic to it. So I am constantly telling people not to put it in. Only once did they forget and put it in my roll, but were so speedy at making me a new one when I pointed it out, and were very apologetic. Anyway, as a local establishment I think it's great. Nice surroundings, friendly people, and great sushi. I have had other things on the menu, and have yet to be disappointed. Great sake too! I use to come here all the time with my former BFF. We loved this place. We both are very indecisive and everything on the menu look scrumptious; this would cause us to order the whole menu.
