Had a great experience in the private dining area at a birthday dinner recently. The guest of honor reserved the basement room (have to go down stairs on the side of restaurant to reach the space). The room exactly fit 2-3 long tables in an L formation (probably about 30-35 people) with just enough room for waiters to walk to perimeter. The room had romantic lighting, creating a sophisticated and intimate vibe. They served a multi-course family style meal, walked around with wine and took cocktail orders as desired. Overall, the food was quite good despite being made in large batches. It was fun to be able to taste multiple pastas and a variety of their appetizers (artichokes, calamari, etc). I was quite impressed with the service despite such a big group and I will be back for a regular (non-private party) dinner at this restaurant in the future!

Had my 30th birthday in the farmtable room and had the best night! The food was amazing (get the grilled artichoke), the staff was so lovely (gloria and yulia were incredible), and everyone kept talking about how the farmtable room was so cool and vibey. They exceeded all my expectations and gave me and my friends an unforgettable night. If you're debating on doing your bday here, do it

Enjoyed an early Saturday dinner with friends before a performance at The Public Theater. So glad we chose this place. The outside of the restaurant does not give it justice as some might only see a bar and a few tables. They have an entire dining area in the back. The staff was very welcoming and eager to share their specials, if which we select two. Everything was delicious and satisfying, there wasn't one "miss" here. We started with the Butternut Squash soup, Fritto Misto with a mayo we couldn't get enough of, and the Brussel Sprouts with tasty crispy prosciutto. Then our party enjoyed their Risotto Giallo, steak frites, the Gnocchi and the Branzino Cartoccio special. All dishes arrived hot and flavorful. Our friends also loved their cocktails. The funnest dessert I've ever seen was the deconstructed Cannoli Riccota, my friend was like a kid again! I loved their Piccola Pasticceria, a triple selection of yummy sweets. Definitely consider for your next pre-show dining experience.

This is one Italian restaurant I haven't heard about on any NYC restaurant lists... and not sure why!! The food and vibes are fantastic. I thoroughly enjoy all the dishes we ordered, especially the mafaldine carbonara and the chicken entree (it was only $30) and a hearty portion). Love love love, and will be back!

Forgot to take pics of our main dishes but what a lovely restaurant! The pastas were delicious! I highly recommend the lasagna and the linguine al Nero di seppia. The fritto misto to start was yummy and you really can't go wrong with burrata but next time I'll get it with the prosciutto that you can add on, it needed the salty element. My husband got the steak and said it was just okay for him so I would say stick with the delicious pastas. The place is really cute! On the smaller side so def get a resy. Service was great!

Where do I begin? This restaurant is calming. I have passed by this place for several years and I didn't realize it was there. Once I walked in with a friend, I was taken in by the ambiance and the beauty of the bar. I had the pleasure of being in Gloria's section and presence. I adore her and I come back for her. Her service was excellent. Now, let's get into the food and drinks. I wanted to go to heaven after this lasagna. I think and dream about this dish all the time now. It's perfectly made with the right size and portion. You feel satisfied from head to toe. They have a great drink selection to pair along with the food from cocktails to wine. I've tried other dishes, and I'm amazed at the quality & freshness. I've been spoiled by this place. Thank God.

Cozy spot with a small menu, so you know they specialize in what they serve. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente. We had the black linguine, pappardelle, and branzino. I would recommend the pappardelle if you like creamy pasta. The branzino was cooked and seasoned well. -1 star as the calamari on the black linguine was mushy and a little fishy tasting but the pappardelle and brazino more than made up for that. Our server was kind and attentive. Would return.

This place is very charming. Perfect for a date night. It's a narrow space. You have the front bar area with a few tables then walk towards the back for the larger dining area where there's a fake fireplace burning. We started with the crostini trio - ricotta w/ pears and honey, fried shrimp and pesto, and tomatoes and cheese (forget the type). The crostini offerings change daily. Then we had the lasagna della nonna and tagliatelle bolognese. Both dishes were good; we cleaned our plates! Their pasta offerings are at nice price point ($22-$28). The two employees working were both very nice and attentive. It was an overall nice dining experience!

Misirizzi is where it's at. The drinks are so tasty and strong, the service is fabulous and the place itself is so cute. My girlfriends and I came in to catch up and have dinner before a night out. I had a cosmo, my one friend had a Moscow mule and one had a drink off the drink menu. We ordered two of the crispy artichokes and it was divine. They were perfectly crispy! And the pesto sauce that came with it... I could eat that for days. So creamy and paired so nicely with the dish. I ordered the bolognese which was so great. The pasta was so fresh and delicious and the sauce was perfect. It wasn't too heavy and was very filling. Both of my friends had the carbonara and loved it. Thank you to the owner, Alessandro, for the hospitality and for having us! Can't wait to come back!

Super cute and cozy little Italian place! The service and vibe is amazing-- great for a first date or a cute little date night. We ordered the burrata, carbonara, and gnocchi. Burrata was great. The pasta dishes were so-so. I thought that the carbonara was good but lacked some sauce and the gnocchi was a bit lackluster-- I wished it had more of a kick in the tomato sauce.

Fritto di Calamari e Gamberi and Tris di Crostini
    Jeffrey L.

I went to this Italian Restaurant in downtown Manhattan and the food weren't that good as I expect them to be. We had the Fritto di Calamari e Gamberi and the Tris di Crostini as appetizer. Then I had the Gnocchi del Giorno for the main course. The Calamari were dry and the Gnocchi was overcooked. We had as well the Gelato for dessert and not good and creamy as I expected. For the drinks, the Aperol Spritz was good though. This place I should say good just for Aperitivo and not for dining. The Ambiance and service is pretty good though. I will not recommend this place to friends for dining, maybe I will only just for Aperitivo. I hope the management may read this comments and may implement some improvements.

Ferragosto italiano, great aperitivo; the prices for the happy hours are great; check it out Monday to Thursday 5pm to 7 pm drinks $5 -$8 and food up to $12. The food and drinks were good and refreshing; The service was great, everyone welcomed us with big smiles and courtesy; We were enjoying the beautiful weather outside, there are tables where you could seat ;)

I had my bridal shower here and they were very accommodating to allow us to decorate the space and have the room to ourselves. They came with great service, patience, and hospitality. I'd host another intimate dinner here again.

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified. Even though we had a reservation, we arrived ahead of schedule and were seated right away, which felt like a small miracle in Midtown. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Our server kept my water glass consistently full (always appreciated), and we each enjoyed a glass of wine to unwind after the show. As someone with a gluten allergy, I was glad to see they offer gluten-free options, though I do wish there were a few more to choose from. It's manageable, but the menu can feel a bit limited depending on your preferences. We started with the caprese and prosciutto, which was fresh, simple, and well-executed. My aunt ordered a veal marsala, and I went with the seafood risotto since it was gluten-free. The risotto was creamy and satisfying, loaded with seafood and full of flavor. That said, for the price point, I wouldn't have minded a slightly more generous portion--but that's pretty typical for the area. We were starving and dove in right away (careful--it comes out piping hot), and everything really hit the spot. Dessert was the only miss for me. The gluten-free options were limited to sorbet or tartufo, so we decided to skip it this time. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance--lively without being overwhelming, and perfect for catching up over dinner. By the time we left, the place was packed, which says a lot. Bonus points for free Wi-Fi, which you don't always find. Parking is exactly what you'd expect in NYC: pricey and a bit of a challenge, so plan accordingly. Overall: Great service, enjoyable food, and a convenient pre- or post-theater spot--I'd just love to see a few more gluten-free options and slightly larger portions for the price.
