We went for the Happy Hour specials, the grilled artichoke and fried shrimp and calamari, and they were great. Had some fish "crudo" which was nice and tangy, a radicchio salad, and a nice helping of pasta. Everything tasted really fresh, and the staff was very pleasant. One little touch I liked was that they have real flowers in the vases on the tables. People expect them to be fake, but they are not. The sign said the happy hour was only valid at the bar, but the waitress let us get HH prices at our outdoor table. Their classic drinks are solid, Hugo spritz and Aperol spritz were perfect and the HH price was $8. We ordered the crudo, carbonara, and bolognese. They have a gluten free pasta option which we got. Had a great experience in the private dining area at a birthday dinner recently. The guest of honor reserved the basement room (have to go down stairs on the side of restaurant to reach the space). The room exactly fit 2-3 long tables in an L formation (probably about 30-35 people) with just enough room for waiters to walk to perimeter. The room had romantic lighting, creating a sophisticated and intimate vibe. They served a multi-course family style meal, walked around with wine and took cocktail orders as desired. Overall, the food was quite good despite being made in large batches. It was fun to be able to taste multiple pastas and a variety of their appetizers (artichokes, calamari, etc). The outside of the restaurant does not give it justice as some might only see a bar and a few tables. They have an entire dining area in the back. Forgot to take pics of our main dishes but what a lovely restaurant! The pastas were delicious! I highly recommend the lasagna and the linguine al Nero di seppia. The fritto misto to start was yummy and you really can't go wrong with burrata but next time I'll get it with the prosciutto that you can add on, it needed the salty element. I went to this Italian Restaurant in downtown Manhattan and the food weren't that good as I expect them to be. We had the Fritto di Calamari e Gamberi and the Tris di Crostini as appetizer. Then I had the Gnocchi del Giorno for the main course. The Calamari were dry and the Gnocchi was overcooked. We had as well the Gelato for dessert and not good and creamy as I expected. For the drinks, the Aperol Spritz was good though. This place I should say good just for Aperitivo and not for dining. The Ambiance and service is pretty good though. These tables were very close, only about 2 feet apart so there was not a lot of space and at times you could overhear the other person's conversation. At first glance it looks like a small restaurant with some outdoor seating and at the bar, but venture in and you'll see the dimly lit seating inside that is beautiful. Hopefully this place lasts long! Decent sized restaurant. Some tables outside, and then a front and rear area inside. Staff was helpful but not the nicest. Romantic type of restaurant, but it lost some charm given no one was there. They also sat us directly next to one of the only two other tables there (would've liked more space). We tried the Carciofi (crispy artichoke) for the appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. We then ordered the Malfadjne and Radiatori pastas -- both were good, but nothing special. We finished off the meal with the Torta Dellla Nonna for dessert, which was light and tasty! The main reason we dock a star for this place is because of the service. Valentine's Day at Misirizzi was a success! Not quite sure how I found Misirizzi, but I am sure glad I did. I booked my Valentine's Day reservation at Misirizzi about a month in advance and was delighted to find out that they had a wine cellar that guests could dine in. We arrived right on time for our reservation and were sat immediately. It was a bit drafty in the cellar at first, however, the manager was turning on space heaters to keep the place warm. My husband and I put in a drink order with our server and also placed our food order shortly after that. Here is what we had: My husband had the following: 1. Burrata - he said burrata was very creamy and the prosciutto was cut very think just like he likes it. 2. Homemade strozzapreti - he said the pasta was a bit gummy, but the sauce was really good. 3. She'll steak - good but nothing to write home about. Here is my order: 1. Zucchini soup - very tasty and full of flavor. 2. Butternut squash cappellacci - the sauce was simply delightful. 3. Zucchini parmigiana- out of this world good! Tasted similar to eggplant parmigiana. For dessert: 1. Torta della nonna - not our favorite but good 2. Cannolis - the cannolis were some of the best that we ever had and I would go back simply for them. All of the above was included on their prefix menu which was only $80 dollars per person. There are loads of Italian restaurants in NYC that are overpriced and almost impossible to get a reservation unless you jump at them the first chance they open. I'm happy to say Misirizzi is not this type of restaurant. My partner and I very much enjoyed the burrata and prosciutto (but to be honest how could you go wrong with that?). We shared the carbonara mafaldine and the squid ink tomato sauce seafood pasta. Both hit the spot! It was hard to pick a favorite, honestly I couldn't.
