Fantastic. Russ was really straightforward, calming and professional. I was surprised he was able to do so much in just a half hour, and now I just need to set up 15 minute sessions going forward. Yippee! I may even ask to do more areas now that I know it's not too bad. I'm so impressed with the results too. I had to go back to work afterwards and to a party that evening, and my skin looked fine! It wasn't very noticeable at all. And one day later, my skin looked pretty much normal. Even though I was on the go all day and not giving myself the best aftercare, just a few little red dots and no irritation at all. If you're at all sensitive or scared of the pain, I suggest numbing creme just to make the process easy for you. It's not more painful than laser hair removal -- but it does feel different. A sharper pain rather than a stinging pain (laser). However, the sensation is VERY short lived- just an instant. You feel fine right after, no lingering sensitivity. read more

Location--amazing, very convenient to all metro lines due to proximity to gallery place, metro center, and McPherson square. Rates--good for the area. He offers a cash rate that's better than most that aren't in the suburbs. Cancellation policy--he recently added a 48 hour cancellation policy I believe and if you miss the cancellation window you owe full price. This is very strict and excessive among other electrolysis businesses. There's no incentive for informing him early after 48 hours. He is generally able to fill your appointment time a few hours out, as he has told me. So he can often make money from cancellations Setup: you lay on a plastic protective covering and turn to the side when necessary (I.e. you move around Russ, Russ doesn't move around you). The plastic covering isn't pleasant on bare skin. It is fine given the rates tho. I saw Russ nearly weekly for several months. I have also had electrolysis sessions with 2 other electrologists multiple times. Russ is the only one who bruised me. I think this is because he isn't 100% precise with the needle which sometimes misses the follicle and you feel it puncture the skin. Russ blamed my bruising on an iron deficiency (that I don't have). Also sometimes I feel pulling when he removed the hair which I really never feel with other electrologists. I think both of these things were the result of missing the hair follicle. I noticed he doesn't use the mag lamp for magnification, but just for light. This allows him to go fast but also to make mistakes. He will encourage you to buy the supplies he sells. He sells a Mary Kay toner (which I found out recently is basically a pyramid scheme). I bought it after I discovered an allergy to citric acid (found in many things like Thayers Witch Hazel) and he recommended this one and I bought it through him. While it was lower on the ingredient list my skin soon reacted to it. I texted him as an FYI and because I was annoyed that he sold me something after telling him I was sensitive to the ingredients. The ingredients aren't listed on the bottle and I don't believe he gave me the box. Russ never responded when I texted him about that issue. The last straw was when i discovered a burn type reaction to his sanitizing cleaner. He used Lucasol one step medical grade disinfectant. He would often sanitize seconds before I was to have electrolysis. He also diluted to 25% lucasol to 75% water. The instructions required to use 2 oz of lucasol to 1 gallon of water. This was 16x more concentrated than allowed. My face was pressed against a foam leather pillow for at least 20 minutes. Russ at first blamed it on my numbing cream, despite A) this reaction never happened with my numbing cream, and B) I didn't even apply it there! I had a call with poison control and my doctor. Thankfully, the chemical burn went completely away in a week, but they said it could've been much worse. After this issue he said he went back to a Purell sanitizer and shouldn't have any more issues with that. On too many occasions he broke my trust and when confronted he would blame me instead of admitting any error. I cannot recommend Russ as an electrologist. If you go to him and have a complaint, expect him to blame you read more

I just moved to the district and needed to find my new "person" for bi-weekly electrology sessions. There aren't a lot of options in the area, and reviews are so varied for Arlington/Alexandria locations (& I really wanted to avoid that commute), so I already prepared myself for trial and error visits in the city. As soon as I got to the office I knew that I found my new place. Russ is housed in a group practice office with other health professionals and maintains his own private space. It is super clean, and comfortable for the task. He uses a top notch system that gives "that good current" to the hair follicle so you don't feel like you're wasting your money or time. When you embark upon the journey of electrolysis, you know it's a commitment of both time and money. As a woman of color, I also want to know that the practitioner is skilled in various hair presentation and Russ keeps a diverse clientele. September will be two years of electrolysis for me, so I'm not new to this, okay. Russ doesn't waste time, he is knowledgeable and professional, and most importantly effective. I waited a few days after my first session to comment and I must say, I am impressed, satisfied, and so thankful I have one less place to find since the move. My face area is smooth, fully cleared. I mean not one ghost hair. No irritation. I'm already scheduling repeat sessions. Oh! And there are Morning and afternoon, (and some evening) appointments, praised be. I have never left an electrolysis appointment with such irritated skin. My skin has scabbed over, is terribly bruised, and is still quite bumpy. Furthermore, he didn't even get all the hair. Maybe I was spoiled by my previous electrologist, but i won't be returning. read more

Close to the metro, excellent prices, nice office, and effective & efficient services: I wish I'd found Mint Electrology earlier. Russ (the owner) does an amazing job. Also, unlike any other hair removal establishment I've visited, he provides ice packs post-service so you can calm your skin before leaving the office.
