WHAT IS GOING ON AT MINK?
Tuesday, October 19, 2021
Well, I thought I had a great appointment this past Saturday at MINK (read my glowing review below). BUT, as it turned out they screwed up. I received a phone call yesterday morning stating that the MRI that I had Saturday was incomplete. It was supposed to be done with "Contrast"...but it wasn't, as a physician is needed (possibly to inject in me the proper material to view a "before and after image").
I was told when I arrived Saturday that they may have to reschedule as the physician wasn't there yet. I then stated, I would stick around and hopefully he/she would show up. I started filling out the paperwork and was then told the technician was ready for me. I then stated "Oh, great the doctor did get here." I then had the MRI and left about 15 minutes later. Before I left the building I went to the front desk area, thanked them, said goodbye and then walked out.
Later I wrote about what I thought was a wonderful experience at MINK and posted it on YELP.
I was upset when I received the Monday morning phone call telling me I needed to come back and get injected with the contrast material. I didn't make a return appointment as I wanted to talk to Lora G., she is the person that responds to all the YELP reviews good or bad. I called and talked to her at length about what happened and she was apologetic and stated she would look into it and get back to me. We talked later that day and I thought we were good. I would call later this week to schedule an appointment for the contrast MRI. I told her that this incident was not a "deal-breaker" between myself and MINK but more of a learning experience for their associates on being transparent to their patients. I mentioned that this was the only glitch in my long history with MINK and how wonderful all their associates have been, especially Elgin at their front desk.
And then, I received a voice message today from Dr. Rachel Gordon...it came in around 1:40pm but I didn't check my emails or messages until 9:15pm. Dr. Gordon stated she talked to my doctor and needed me to come back for the Contrast MRI...nothing urgent but please make an appointment. She also hurriedly said she was aware of the Saturday "snafu" but explained "sometimes things don't work out as planned and I apologize for that". Hey Doc...don't just apologize for what happened...make a correction so it doesn't happen again to any patient. This is the age of instant communication, everyone has a cell phone...tell your people to call if you're late or not coming in. And then, communicate that to the patient. She also stated that it looked like I had an appointment for this morning but didn't show up, or maybe the appointment was cancelled. NOT TRUE! I never made a follow up appointment. So, who's writing in ghost appointments?
This whole thing just keeps compounding...but in a bad way.
Lora G we need to talk. I'll call you tomorrow. read more
