So I waited until 4 PM and called and asked if they had a chance to quote my request. I was redirected to a another person who started asking me if I wanted a blueprint. I said no. I explained what I needed again. He started getting very loud and and kept asking the same questions. When I explained what I need the print for, hoping this context would explain it better, he insisted on telling me who knows what I want and he deals with architects all the time. The problem is he did so in an aggressive and loud tone...and he kept using the word blueprint. I tried explaining that we haven't used blueprint technology for decades but we wouldn't even let me speak. I then politely asked if he could stop yelling. He ignored. I then asked if someone else could help. He said he was the only guy who could help. I apologized for getting him all riled up (for no reason I could understand) and that I would just call someone else. He seemed totally deaf and didn't care. I still don't know how the conversation got to that state. I hung up totally confused. Maybe he just had a really bad day?

The only thing good about this store is its proximity if I run out of something and need it right…read moreaway. Multiple times, they haven't had what I'm looking for. They claim it doesn't exist or they have to order it. I once needed a patch cord to connect two different phones for a data transfer. Two clerks claimed such a cord doesn't exist. The next day I went to MicroCenter in Cambridge. A clerk found it for me in a minute. This past week, I just needed a cheap pad of legal paper with same-size paper billfolds. As it turns out, the Tru Red paper and paper billfolds only come in letter size. All the Staples brand reams were torn open and should have been either marked down or taken off the shelf for recoup. I also needed a replacement black cartridge for my Canon printer. This store only sells the combo black and color pack so I have two extra color cartridges at home because I rarely print in color. A clerk tried to tell me that I can't get the black separately until I showed him the item on the Canon website. Another clerk offered to order it for me but there was no point since I can order it directly from the manufacturer and eliminate the middleman markup. Ordered it on Saturday and I already have it 5 days later, two black cartridges that I will actually use, total cost about $10 less, shipping and taxes included, than if I had wasted money on the combo pack at Staples for a color cartridge I don't need.

I can't say my job was particularly complicated, nor did it require any prep work on Minuteman's…read morepart, but still: I had an extremely quick turnaround rush poster job I needed to be printed and everyone came through for me and then some! As a graphic designer I'd already gotten everything laid out for them on a USB drive (and called in advance) but they basically dropped whatever else was going on in order to get it done within the hour. Everyone there was both friendly and polite for every step of the way. While I was there they even offered some of their own seating*, which I declined, but was a friendly gesture. The print quality of the poster was excellent, with near perfect color accuracy, and lastly they didn't charge a rush fee (which I was fully prepared to accept). *The aspect would be one area for obvious improvement at this location was the interior space: It feels pretty barebones in terms of comfort and presentation, and I was surprised that they haven't leveraged their printing capabilities to bring in a little color into the space. A few poster examples framed on the walls, an interesting banner perhaps, along with a simple but comfortable bench in the front would give a more "established" first impression. That said, it's the quality and service that counts most, and on those counts they are solid.
