Don't hesitate! I took in a scratch of an idea on a Monday. This was intended to be my Godchild's first business card which I hoped could include an old photo taken from another era but perfect for depicting the idea I was hoping for. While I was there, John made a first try at reproducing this almost blurred vision. He said he'd try another process and to comeback the next day to view the proof. In addition, I asked if the one line depicting the established year could be in a vintage style print. I returned the following day. He gave me the finished card. And I simply twirled around his office. The design, the type and the line with vintage lettering was just right! The photograph was produced beyond my expectations. I was so happy. I've had probably a half dozen or so print jobs from John and Tom. They have always been very accommodating and I find their prices reasonable, except for certain print jobs that I've done online. However, I bet they would work with me on the price if I had asked. This location is convenient so I intend to steer as much business their way as possible. One time they were slightly late on a small job for me and they gave it to me totally free which was well above and beyond what I would have expected. You can't go wrong here! read more

I'm surprised by the high marks this printer has received thus far. Perhaps I got them on an off day.. (it WAS a Wednesday) I went to their website to submit an RFQ and upload the docs for marketing collateral that I needed printed within the week. Once submitted, I received an automated email telling me my RFQ was received and that someone would be in touch with me shortly. Nearly two days later I hadn't heard from ANYONE. So I attempted to call them several times and it seemed like their phone was not in working order. I called other AG locations and asked if they had shut down - no, they were supposed to still be open. I then emailed them asking what was going on and if I needed to go to another shop. A guy finally calls me and basically asks "what's up?". He also sounded as if he'd been sleeping... I asked if everything was okay and if they were shut down for some reason? Answer: No. He seemed deflective and quick to dismiss me. I told him I had already started working with another AG (the downtown shop) and he couldn't have hung up any quicker. If I'm submitting high priority work that is guaranteed to have a two day turnaround, then never hear from anyone, and once I finally do, does not seem too thrilled to be doing business, that's not a great sign. (pun intended) Not sure what happened here, but I won't be patronizing this shop anytime soon. read more

The other day I received a file for a flyer that I had asked a family member to design. The file included photos and descriptions of a lake front rental property in Maine. When I printed a test copy on my own the colors were too dark and I contacted the designer about this. He suggested that I go to AlphaGraphics and see what they could do. When I called the Watertown location, John answered promptly and was genuinely concerned about helping me solve the printing problem. I sent him the file electronically for a test printing there and he called me back to inform me that in addition to the darker colors, one of the descriptions under a photo had been chopped off. I had not noticed this earlier and most grateful that he pointed it out. He urged me to speak with the designer and to the then back to him. He also said that he would do whatever he could to slightly lighten some of the photos due to the less than ideal lighting when they were taken. The designer, Keith, reached out to John and they collaborated to resolve the wording issue and the other small design problems that needed to be addressed before a final printing. What struck me was how attentive John was and his interest in working with the designer to get the job done to my satisfaction. The final printing was excellent, and I know this would not have been the case if someone like John had not been willing to "go the extra mile" to address the small problems. I highly urge anyone interested in having a professional quality printing job done by people who listen and want to work with you to go to the Watertown location of AlphaGraphics. read more

Very late in the game, I decided to print some wine labels and attach them to a case of wine for a special family birthday that weekend. I got a concept off the Internet and emailed a file to Alphagraphics to be printed onto adhesive paper. The art was weak and washed out, but John had the staffing to be able to quickly re-make the design and print and trim the labels. In no time flat I had a unique and memorable gift. I was looking to get a map printed and mounted on foam board and their expertise was greatly appreciated. I'm sure they had more important (and more profitable) orders to fulfill, but they truly made me feel like I was their priority. The first print wasn't what I expected (size was off and colors were absorbed differently), but Alphagraphics did everything to make my finished piece perfect. I work remotely for a consulting firm so I routinely have large printing jobs that I can't do at my house. I was so tired of getting taken to the cleaners by FedEx Office's prices so I thought I would try a locally owned print shop and found these guys on Yelp. They did not disappoint. I also felt that at times they went an extra mile to make something look right even though I didn't specifically request that particular service.
