Well this time, I am extremely happy to say I had an outstanding "customer experience" at MINI NORTH SCOTTSDALE. Oddly, the convertible top on my red JCW MINI would not open. I have happily owned and consistently driven nothing but MINI(s) for over 2 decades; NEVER had any issues with the convertible tops ever "breaking." (Thank God!) Anyway, the manager ("Josh" and "Ryan" MINI advisor) LISTENED to my grievance, and very ethically made an astute business decision to fix the convertible top as a "Loyal Customer courtesy." I sincerely appreciate the fact that this dealership not only stands behind their service, but more importantly, they honestly VALUE their customers. THAT SAYS A LOT! I am posting this based on my personal experience with MINI North Scottsdale / Penske. I purchased a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 and later experienced serious concerns involving warranty representations, pre-sale repair/reconditioning work, safety-related issues, and ongoing mechanical problems. My warning to consumers: do not rely on CARFAX alone or verbal statements. Before purchasing, request the full internal reconditioning file, repair orders, technician notes, inspection sheets, warranty/ESC documents, written warranty confirmation, CARFAX/AutoCheck/NMVTIS reports, and an independent inspection. In my case, I later obtained internal service/reconditioning records showing pre-sale work relevant to issues I experienced after purchase, including stabilizer/sway bar-related work. I also had a SIM/navigation issue after returning the vehicle for a moonroof repair; when I picked it up, it displayed "No SIM card inserted," even though the SIM card was originally in the vehicle. When I requested a written resolution, I was told I allegedly declined rescission/repurchase. I requested proof of any signed rejection, waiver, release, or written communication showing I clearly declined rescission or waived rights. I was not provided that documentation. Based on my experience, get everything in writing and verify every representation before signing or purchasing. read more

It took a little over 7 months and 7 visits but the rattle was finally located and eradicated last November! The head service tech listened to my description and he drove the car countless times to find and take care of the rattle. I love my car now that it doesn't rattle! read more

I previously left two unfavorable reviews about MINI North Scottsdale in regards to a rattle in my new 2024 Countryman. I was so displeased with the service until Travis Bennett, MINI NS General Manager, contacted me and helped resolve the issue. In a joint effort between Travis, Josh, Michael and Don (the service expert who finally diagnosed the issue), my car is finally quiet! I have put over 700 miles on the car since I picked it up and I am confident the rattle is finally gone! I took the car back 7 times in 7 months and the rattle remained. I want to thank Don for listening to me and for caring enough to spend 6 days, going on countless drives, on the road where the issue was most prevalent. His persistence lead to diagnosing where the rattle was coming from and fixing it! What's so strange about the rattle is it seemed to be coming from the dash by the glovebox, when in reality, it was coming from the Interior Roof Light Switch Unit. I understand now why it took so long to diagnose since the rattle was coming from such an unlikely culprit! If anyone has issues with an intermittent rattle, please don't give up. This MINI service center is officially the best I've ever used and I have been to 5 different MINI dealers in different states over the years and have been a MINI owner since 2011 with two different MINI's! I have to give a shoutout to Jonathon and Dain. I had so many issues with my 2013 MINI from moving to the Arizona heat and on top of that, it had started making super loud rattling noises! Jonathon, my service advisor, helped me be able to get all of the work done and was totally in communication with me at all times updating me as well as making sure that everything got handled to my satisfaction. Went in on a Tuesday evening to look at a 2017 clubman with a little over 8000 miles and test drive with Drew. Liked the clubman but wasn't quite sure it was for me. Found a 2020 on their website that was used as a courtesy vehicle with 4600 miles. It was perfect!! Told Drew to see if he could secure financing for us....with our sub par credit and he did. Went in on Thursday for about an hour, signed all paperwork with financing in place and drove home knowing we got a good deal, and saved almost $1 for every mile that was on that car in price $4500 savings. Drew took the time to walk me through the vehicle before I left. He called 2 days later (this morning) just to see how it was going and if I had any questions. WTH -Service after the sale? Gotta love it!! This is my 2nd Mini, as I also own a 2012 Mini 2-door hatchback and I'm so satisfied with this buying experience and the no pressure buying experience at Mini North Scottsdale. I am a Washington State resident and flew into Scottsdale to purchase a Mini Cooper from Mini of North Scottsdale. I had a pretty decent experience with purchasing the Mini, however, it's been a bit of a nightmare since the paperwork was signed. I was told by the finance manager that the dealership did not have the title on hand and that it didn't matter because it wasn't needed to register the vehicle in my state. When I visited my local licensing office, sure enough, they needed proof that the dealership actually owned the vehicle, they needed the title! When I called the finance manager to ask for the title and help getting the car register, she told me that they didn't a title for the Mini and there was nothing she could do for me. I was on my own and I needed to call Mini Financial to figure it out. I told her that other out of state dealerships that I had purchased cars from in the past had always handled the registration process. She told me that she could do it, but she would have to charge $4900 for the service! $4900!!!!!!!! I actually laughed because I was expecting her to say $49 dollars but she continued on to say forty nine HUNDRED!. So I'm basically on my own. The car has been paid for but now I am unable to actually register the car in my name. I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone. I know the car market is competitive right now but this dealership is acting in bad faith. I am starting to think that they didn't actually own the car and are struggling to retrieve the title from the previous owner. Avoid this dealer if you can. UPDATE: Management reached out to me to get my direct contact info to offer any help they could in resolving this matter. They said they take my concerns very seriously. Well.....management just forwarded my email, without any response at all to Dana, the finance consultant who has been the person refusing to help me. Thank you for this management. Let me start by saying we are LOYAL Penske customers. We purchase multiple vehicles from BMW, Land Rover, Porsche and Audi. We wanted a fun zippy car. We have purchased from Mini Crevier in California as well. We brought our desires to both dealerships Crevier in California and Mini North Scottsdale. Vehicle at Crevier was 4K more expensive and less monthly than what Scottsdale offered. We showed the paperwork and we told them who we are and know our history with all the dealerships that we do business with under the Penske umbrella. The manager would not budge. CRAZY I can tell you a trip to California cooler weather isn't going to hurt my feelings but geez what about being convenient! The company has decided to start charging $20 for a loaner during service appointments. That's right, what was once a nice way of saying "we care about you as a customer" has become a way to take money from their loyal clients in a way reminiscent of a child sneaking a few bucks from mom's purse. I've bought only pre-owned Mini Coopers and have taken them here for service regularly for over 12 years, recently I took my car in for service and was told "We can't give you a loaner car anymore because you returned the last one late" as if I was some sort of problem child. The last time I was serviced I only returned the car 4 days after the servicing was completed because I worked until after the service center closed. So congratulations to Mini/BMW you just gave away more of your market share to Toyota, I'm never buying a Mini or Penske automotive car again and I'm no longer getting my vehicle serviced here. I also posted my intial review on Google Reviews and their General Manager Mike Druken sent a reply to "reach out and fix things" so I did and basically it's a canned response. They don't want to fix or help you at all, Mike basically responded with a "Sorry go f yourself" after the initial email where I reached out. I bought two used mini (two door hard top John Cooper2018 edition and country man John Cooper edition 2017) I brought one to check up in California. They checked recall doesn't match to my car, and they added to coupon without me asking. Here. They don't check anything. And you need to this and that... the way they said was like I can choose to do or not to do. He is not rude. Sure. But he is not my top professional desk guy for sure. I asked if you have a coupon to apply this check-up. He said no. But I found one from their website. So I said please apply for it. And he did. But those are just standard. Standard seems like three star. They did give me a video tape of my car was pulled up and finished the work. It doesn't tell me much. But fancy presentation. I bet service guy did good job. Changing filter and stuff. I hope they don't ask me again for changing this filter and that filter next time. So it was not the super great experience. Just standard experience. After a few weeks from my checkup. This dealer sent me saying your tire has level 4 grooves, so I need to change tires. Umm I was there, why don't you tell me that time? Seems a little dishonest. I bought my 2005 "ORANGE MINI S Convertable with navy top last March. I had always wanted the ORANGE one and because they don't make that color anymore, I was delighted when I drove by Mini North Scottsdale and saw it in the lot. I can't tell you what a great experience it was buying this car. Debbie, the Manager and Brian took excellent care or me. The experience was completely stress free, unlike most car buying experiences. Everything went so smooth. I actually cried when they delivered the car to me that afternoon, because it was my dream come true. Since then I have had the time of my life driving it. Last week on a Friday afternoon I had an overheating light come on and called Derrick, my service manager. He told me to bring it in immediately, which I did. I had plans for the weekend and needed my car. Obvously the couldn't fix it before close. Before I had a chance to ask, Derrick offered me a 09 Mini Convertable to drive for the weekend. This was so great after what I use to go through with my old car, a VW. When it would go in for service, I would have to beg to get a car to drive and then usually I didn't get on. It was so refreshing to have the great service. I got my car back as promised on Monday, good as new. I can't say enough good things about Mini North Scottsdale, from the buying experience through service. We are from out of town and needed Roadside assistance. A tow truck was immediately dispatched and the Mini North Scottsdale dealership did an excellent job of repairing our car quickly. Why I am writing this today is because Brandon Overly, the Service Manager went way beyond the call of duty to get our car returned to us. Roadside assistance will tow your vehicle to the dealership however if you are stranded less than 100 miles from the dealership they will not tow your car back to you. We live in an RV and had no way of getting our car and we were only 86 miles away which fell into the "get your car back on your own" category. Brandon was exceptionally helpful and made every effort to have Mini Roadside cover the tow back but to no avail. SO Brandon made the call and the dealership paid to have it towed back to us. I will say that I was a bit perturbed that we were left without our vehicle but Brandon and Mini North Scottsdale restored my pleasure with Mini. When I trade our Clubman JCW in for a new model, I will make the drive to Arizona all the way from Texas to make the deal. These folks at Mini N. Scottsdale rock in my book and I will shout it everywhere I can how exceptional the service was! A very happy lifetime customer. read more

After being very frustrated with South Bay Mini, it was refreshing to 'visit' with North Scottsdale Mini! 1/4 of the way through and about 500 miles into my roadtrip I noticed that Winnie needed an oil change! I called Mini of Tempe and they were all booked for the day. So I called North Scottsdale and they were able to get in me at my preferred time of 1pm. The maintenance people were super nice and my service consultant Shaun Moss went the extra mile to do some minor service for free for me that SB Mini would have charged me for! What a difference a dealership makes. And Shaun makes a difference for his dealership! I'll probably never go back but it's nice to know not all Mini dealers are into scare tactics! read more

I was told it needed a new engine mount $910.00 Total bill was $1,632.00, the work was done, I paid the bill. However,the service department was very unhelpful. I told Johnathon I felt the engine mount cost should be covered by Mini. The car has only been in my garage, and highway driven, so it must be a manufacturing problem. He told me to call Mini of North America, basically not his problem. The service manager, Ric had the same exact response. They definitely are not taking care of, or even trying to resolve an issue for a loyal customer. I had been wanting a Mini Cooper for a very long time. I fell in love with them when I still lived in California and knew that one day I would have my very own. After my husband and I moved to Arizona I began to search for a MINI dealership and then chose MINI North Scottsdale. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Bill Bailey and he inquired about our visit. Once we told him that we were looking to lease a MINI Cooper, Bill set out to make that happen in short order. The day was incredibly hot, and Bill provided us with cold drinks and then showed us around the lot in a golf cart. Once I found my perfect MINI (that I affectionately call my "electric blue dream") we went about the process of leasing. Which to my surprise, was relatively painless! Bill was absolutely the nicest man! In my opinion he went WAY above and beyond telling me all about the "ins and outs" of my new MINI. He sat in the car with me and showed me every little (and totally amazing) detail about my car. I have to mention Ric Bakutis Service Manager and Jonathan Bauknecht Service Advisor for extraordinary customer service and advocacy. My 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman had engine malfunction light come on and was found to have turbo failure which consequently needed to be replaced. I didn't feel that the part should have failed since it was just replaced 2.5 years ago and only 17000 miles later. It was replaced at 70000 miles and 7th year of cars life. At that time they both advocated for me when I filed a complaint with Mini (BMW) corporate office customer service. That time Mini assumed the full cost of the part, even though it was out of warranty, but the car was meticulously maintained at the same Mini of North Scottsdale service center since purchase. The service provided deep discount on the labor and made it possible to avoid $5250 part and labor charge. Mini agreed that the failure was premature considering the car service records, but not without Ric and Jon's help. Well since the part failed again so soon and the repair on an aged car was basically catastrophically expensive I filed another complaint with the Mini. I spoke to Jon and Ric again asking for their help and boy did they come through again. They helped making the case with BMW corp. and Mini covered 50% of parts while Mini of North Scottsdale service center assumed entire labor charge, again making it possible to have our car repaired. I can't say enough praise about my experience and say that Jon and Ric saved the face of the brand, represented their dealership and Penske corporate with pride in a best possible light.
