I have tried many Chinese restaurants on the North Van but the one that is closest to home style cooking as I was taught by my Mother in Law is Mings Garden. We ordered 4 dishes, and 3 of them tasted and looked exactly the same - sweet & sour pork, ginger beef & General Sau chicken. Could not tell these dishes apart. Also ordered special chow mein - 1 shrimp and 1 piece of pork. Cost us $80. Will not be ordering from Ming Garden again! read more

Ming's Garden is just across from Capilano Mall on Marine Dr. in North Vancouver. We'd ordered some takeout food from here once before, and it was quite good back then. As we hadn't ordered from here in awhile, we decided to give it a try, just to have a bit of a change from any of our usual "go to" Chinese restaurants on the North Shore. Scallops with Snow Peas Deep Fried Fish Cod Fillet with Sweet & Sour Sauce Seafood Chow Mein (crispy) Shrimp Foo Young Unfortunately the food was not as good this time as it had been the last time we ordered from here. The main issue we found with the food this time was that much of it was too salty. Flavors and textures were fine, but the excess salt made it difficult to enjoy the food. Before I begin I want to say I don't mean for this to sound mean, I'm just sharing my perspective on the food itself. I've ordered from this place twice now. The first time it was very bland. I ordered house special fried rice, lemon chicken, and dry garlic spare ribs, and the flavor was bland and the texture of the lemon chicken and spare ribs was very stale-like; almost like it was prepared the day before. I ordered it again today in hopes that it would be different but it was similar. There was not a lot of flavor in the house special fried rice, beef and broccoli, and the sweet and sour pork which again was stale-like. Again this is my perspective on the food. If you're a fan of this place, by all means, eat there, but I would not recommend it to those looking for good Chinese/Szechuan on the North Shore. read more

Me and my family of 4 went here for lunch. The veg chow menu was the best if ever had and my kids even liked it's veggies. The hot and sour soup was a little too sour for my liking but for the name. The curry chicken fried was also really good. The only dish that's wasn't a fav was the crispy sesame chicken because it was to fried and the sauce wasn't that good. Overall the service and food was good. The ambiance wasn't too high but it also felt more authentic in a way. Would recommend. read more

This has been the best Chinese food in Canada! Very friendly sever and food came out fast! Delicious!!! Got to try the fried prawns with the shells on. Shells are also edible! Better than "Lotus..." in Las Vegas! A must try if you are close to the area! read more

I ordered through DoorDash (I mention this because I've heard that App deliveries aren't as good because it's less personal and the businesses don't care as much but who knows) a Beef Chop Suey and omg... OMG it was absolutely DELICIOUS. The beef and vegetables were well seasoned in the sauce and they do not skimp out on beef or sauce at all. I'll definitely be ordering from here again. read more

Low quality, poor tasting food at a high price. Don't waste your money here. After making an order over the phone for pickup we arrived to collect our food. The lady who took the order had made a mistake and added an extra order. We explained to her that we did switch an item at the time we called in the order, but she told us that we had made the mistake. We managed to get things sorted and the extra item was canceled and the bill was corrected. We left with what we 'thought' we had ordered. When we got home and opened the styrofoam boxes we found out that the order was totally wrong. We had been charged the price of what we 'wanted' to order but didn't actually receive it and got something totally different and that was less expensive. Even worse the food was really poor and low quality/tasting for the price. We were very disappointed and will not eat there again. We tried it because our favourite Chinese on the North shore (Jade Garden) was closed. If you want great quality Chinese Food at a great price, go to Jade Garden. read more

I had takeout at Ming's. First love the name it takes me back to the 70's how they used to name Chinese restaurants. So the name captured my gaze at first and then one day I needed to get some food. Wuntun soup . Lesson one is to never takeout noodle soups like ramen and wuntun because the noodles will get soggy. Still needed the soup for the girls so I got it. Ordered the soya pan fried rice noodle dish called Gong chow gnau ho. Or however you pronounce it. Sorry for butchering it up. And some curry vermicelli and both were very good. I'm giving them 3.5 stars because I think next time I'm gonna have to eat in. Fresh right out of the pan Chinese food is way better than takeout and I have a new place over the others to go to now . Not good... ordered a lunch combo one day that had chowmein and some other stuff and it was barely edible... noodles were bare and had no sauce or flavour. I wish I checked it before driving all the way home because I can tell you I wouldn't have accepted it. Live and learn though.. Really not sure how a place like this exists outside of Antarctica maybe. Fried rice was flavorless with frozen veggies, and all the meats inside were undercooked. Salt and pepper chicken was rubbery, tasteless, and overcooked. Rest of the dishes I ordered do not even look appetizing in the slightest. I always thought Chinese was kinda like pizza....even when it's bad, it's good. This place changed my perception on this notion. Avoid at all costs. Oh and the delivery driver grunted at me. It is a very nice place with delicious menu. One of the very few offering the Peking Duck in two presentations and two courses for a very reasonable price. The chicken chow mein, the sweet and sour pork , the house special chop suey are outstanding and portions are very generous, we had also next day at home, a succulent breakfast!!! Even same day we tried the wonton soup for two and was very flavoured . Lily the owner / waitress is so kind and courteous . Actually we asked also for the White House wine, excellent price and so good. We two had a blast, and we will go back the sooner the better. By far The worst Chinese food I have ever had. The sweet and sour chicken was so dry that I was unable to cut it in half with my teeth to see if there's actually chicken in there or cardboard. The rice had no taste and the noodles were bland and everything was dry. The beef with vegetables was OK! Me and my mother decided to come here for lunch because they were originally located over at the back of Edgement Village. We both had some sort of beef with rice dish. Honestly, while the meat portion was decently cooked, but one big mistake they've did was that they made the rice portion waaaayyyyyy too much. The sauce they used for this dish went relatively well with the rice but a huge portion of this dish was mostly just white rice with a cheap amount of vegetables. For around $9, that's kind of expensive. I guess I better order something else from there if I ever decided to come here. read more

Love this place. We do take away all the time and the food is super consistent and exactly what you want when you have that craving for Chinese food. Would highly recommend the Deep Fried Prawns with Sweet and Sour sauce or the Ginger Fried Shredded Beef. Prices are fair and the order is always ready on time. Would definitely recommend. read more

This place is one of my favourites for Chinese food on the North Vancouver part of Marine Drive. I used to go to their previous location in Edgemont Village back in high school. Glad they moved down closer to where I live! You really can't go wrong with anything you order here, but my typical order comprises of the honey pork, lemon chicken (some may find this a tad sour), fried beans, corn soup, and white rice. The dish names may not be accurate. I like the fact that their dishes are less oily than most other Chinese restaurants and they make their dishes to order. Last night was my first time dining at Ming's Garden at their new location, and I can definitely say that their dishes and service were just as on point as they were back when they were located at Edgemont Village. I went with some picky princesses and we had the opportunity to try their spring rolls, lemon chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, cod & steamed tofu, beef chop suey, and chicken wings. The lemon chicken was absolutely delectable. The soft meat, in combination with the crunchy battered exterior, coated in a tangy lemon sauce blew me away. This stuff has become the essence of my life. One thing I really appreciate in particular is how the spring rolls are all made from scratch in-house. Both the shell and the fillings tasted crisp and amazingly fresh. The sweet plum sauce that comes on the side really complements the savory rolls. What really put the cherry on the cake was how they came out of the kitchen bright golden and smoking hot, just like the waiter serving them to us. Another element I really appreciate is how the other customers around us knew the mom that owns the place and greeted her by her name. It gives the restaurant a pleasantly warm and friendly atmosphere. Everyone was also ordering in English, which made me feel less bad about being Chinese and ordering in English. I didn't really get the chance to critique anything else because I was busy wolfing down the rest of the food. But the overall consensus among my party was that the food makes for a terrific example of Chinese cuisine. It was a euphoric meal. I regret nothing. read more

Always love their food, been ordering and dining in since they opened which I think was 5 years Only once I was put off by every veg dish being 75% peppers and onion, so for awhile I said no onion no peppers. But what's really impressive is that if it's not on the menu they may still make it. Case of curry chicken fried rice, just the right Amt heat and lots of flavour. I have been ordering from Mings for years... I always order the same things. There have been little forgivable mishaps in the past but nothing devastating. I ordered 2 bbq chow mein, beef and broccoli, and honey garlic pork. Tonight they sent me chicken chow mein and my beef and broccoli was burnt and inedible. Wife and I went here for a bite, just some fried rice and honey garlic spareribs. It's not that the food was bad, but it isn't what I'd call good either, it was the epitomy of "meh". Their house special fried rice, all the vegetables were uncooked or barely cooked and the flavour was mediocre overall. The honey garlic ribs were quite bland. Usually at other places, the ribs have absorbed some of the flavour of the sauce, in this case not at all. The honey garlic sauce was weak and seemed like it was just poured over plain, overcooked ribs and brought out. read more

My husband and I read great reviews of this restaurant and gave it a try tonight to support a local business. The woman who took our order was extremely friendly and provided great service when we picked up our order. The chicken and mushroom chow mein and prawn broccoli black bean dishes were just fine. The General Tso chicken, however, was completely inedible. It was as tough as leather and grisly. We did call the restaurant as a courtesy to let them know they may want to advise the chef, as it may have been a one-time issue, but we won't be going back. read more

Don't waste your money ordering from Ming's unless you like bland Chinese food with the same vegetable used in every dish and small portions. We stopped ordering from Ming's a couple years ago for these reasons, but regrettably decided to give them another chance a couple nights ago. Ordered four dishes, each resplendent with broccoli (nothing against broccoli...but some variety is nice). Even the Chicken with Three Mushrooms was all broccoli, precious little chicken, and yes, exactly, 3 - count them - 3 mushrooms. The other dishes were mostly broccoli too and very little in the way of beef or prawns. And to add insult to injury, every dish tasted exactly like the other. For the amount of money we spent we were regretting we didn't order from our old and favourite place for QUALITY food - generous portions and uber flavour -- JORDAN SUSHI on Lonsdale. You won't go wrong there. I went into Ming's the next day to complain and was basically given the brush off. read more

Ming's has been a favourite place of my family for years since they were at edgemont village. They have always been very accommodating as I have a gluten allergy. Everything they cook for us is gluten free as they use gluten free soya sauce and fish sauce. The food is really good and the staff are really friendly. Lily is very sweat and accommodating. Don't bother even trying this, my husband and I had this for dinner last night cause we both hadn't had Chinese in a long time. They charge your card without telling you the amount, the delivery was fast. But the food was just awful it started out great but in the end we both found it has no flavour except for the spring rolls. I ended up having to order us an additional dinner from somewhere else cause it was that bland it didn't even keep us full. Don't even bother wasting your money here not worth it at all. read more
