A tiny bit dry, $15~$16 or so, it's really expensive for what it is. Not worth it.

Decided to come right after a medical appointment nearby with my family member. It was much more emptier than I thought as there were barely 10~12 people there in a place where it looks like it can seat at least quadruple that, if not more (the tables that wasn't walled off by glass walls that is likely used for parties). I haven't been here for a long time and decor wise, it's pretty much the same as it was before in the early 2000's as they don't seem to have changed much. We only ordered a plate of green vegetable, chow Mein and this beef rib thing with this rice noodle thing (sorry, I do not remember the name of this dish). Out of the 3, I feel like the one with the rice noodle thing with the beef is the most tastiest with the chowmein being the worst, I had food court fried noodles that tasted better than theirs and it costed a lot less. The service is really what I liked about it. The employees were very friendly in my opinion. When we realized there was a possible hair like thing in the vegetables, they immediately switched it for us with a new batch without question. A bit of a tip - I recommend asking to keep the plate of food with you on the table until they came with a new batch to prevent them from just giving you the same batch but just switched the plates. While it's definitely not going out of your way to come here but I do recommend coming here if you are in this neck of the woods and checking it out and see if there's hidden gems in the menu that tastes good.Crispy Chowmein

I liked how the waitresses were proficient in Chinese/English. They are accomodating for parties and there is some private rooms with glass doors for banquet type of dining. The rooms are small though. Food was alright. Some dishes lacked flavor. It's right off the freeway.

Westview Oriental Restaurant specializes in delicious tasting Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine. They dish out excellent quality authentic Chinese food and daily dim sum. Open Mondays to Sundays from 11am to 8:30pm. Closed Wednesdays. Service is spectacular.

Steamed BBQ Pork Buns ($6.45): nice and light.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE 3.5 stars: the better, if not best option for dim sum on the North Shore. Good food, but prices are higher than much of the mainland and service can be inconsistent. === 2. FOOD In general, you can't go wrong with the food; on this day, we enjoyed: - Shrimp Dumplings ($6.95): plump and tasty. - Pork Dumplings ($6.45): 4 pieces of solid goodness! - Pan-Fried Fish Cake ($6.75): a delight worth enjoying again. - Steamed BBQ Pork Buns ($6.45): nice and light. - Pan-Fried Pea Tips ($11.95): I wish it was a lot bigger for the price... - Beef Teriyaki Spinach ($11.95): yummy yin and yang on one dish! Note: there is a $1.20 charge per person for tea. === 3. SERVICE Higher prices is one thing but inconsistent service leads to the loss of another star. On some days, the service is alright, and on other days, it seems like some or most of the staff are just putting up with the inconvenience of having customers. === 4. ATMOSPHERE It's a decent environment to dine in - neither old nor new, but given the curved shape of the room and layout, very large parties may have some challenges. Tables are relatively close together, so it may be a tight squeeze for wheelchairs and strollers. Parking is plentiful in the shopping centre lot.

Always great time!!!

I've been going here for the past 10 years or so, 5-6 times a year, and every, single, time they have provided excellent service and even better food! We always have the Dim Sum, and never leave a scrap of food or want for more...simply delicious!!!! After reading some reviews you have to be prepared to come here. If you want service start with a reservation, then be prepared, the place is busy, the staff are flying around...be prepared for that. I think most poor reviews come from people expecting a quieter environment, or perhaps less familiar with dim sum...yeah, you might have to ask for an item once or twice, but that's the nature of success....be patient, and enjoy the overall experience!

This was my first time trying a few dim sum items in North Vancouver. It was more authentic than what I was expecting. The menu has all the basic dim sum items. Service was very good and efficient. Overall, 3.5 stars experience.

Typical family outing.

Absolute BEST dim sum I've had yet. Made to order, the food was hot, juicy, and tasted just right…read more Not greasy or oily, just pure juiciness. We tried to go to other places around town for dim sum but others were too busy or only took reservations. I'm so glad we ended up here. Portions are huge so be careful when ordering! We ordered a lot and ended up having plenty to take home after. 12/10 recommend this place for delicious dim sum!

Overall: 3.5/5 This was a last-minute family dinner, and…read morewith such a large group, Royal Palace had the seating capacity to comfortably host us. With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

Unbelievable. Came here on a whim. Not a huge menu, but…read morestraight to the point. The noodle soup was bland and boring. Should've stuck with rice. The char siu and soy sauce chicken were both cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. The green scallion sauce was not necessary but it was still delicious ! Would've been great over rice. The extra fatty char siu the server gave me to try was over the top! Perhaps the best char siu I've had to date. My server, Bobby? Did a fantastic job and was very informative and I can tell he really likes what he does thru his enthusiasm
