We have been to Mingo's several times and I have always found myself wishing I could try more on the menu than I could possibly manage, with so many delicious options! A combination of salad/small plates is often a good option -- the Mingo Caesar-like romaine salad is fresh and tasty, the Cicchetti tapas and octopus appetizers are delicious and well made (the octopus of a very tender texture). Our party of four ordered different desserts so we could each sample various ones; my favorite is the cannoli. My European husband loved the fruit crisp, as it was not overly sweet as so many other American fruit desserts tend to be. I did find the panna cotta to be overly sweet for my taste. Staff members have always been friendly and welcoming, although sometimes service can be a bit slow (attending to water glasses, for example). Still, this is one of our favorite visits in the somewhat culinary desert of Beaverton. read more

Beautiful restaurant in a tough to find area. The construction nearby had multiple detours. Our server messed up my husband's order so he subsequently was served half way though our meals. In all honesty, we left feeling like our left overs were not worth reheating later because neither one of our meals was that great. read more

Mingo has been here forever and I have always enjoyed the food they serve. The menu changes all the time so it does vary how much I like it every time. The bread and drinks are always great. I usually get one of the seasonal pastas and my husband gets the burger or some other protein centric meal. We share and it's amazing. read more

I used to eat at the NW Mingo years ago so had some hopeful expectations going to this one. What a disappointment. Had a pizza and the crust was like a cracker, the sauce like from a tomato sauce can and the sausage on it was like a few little burned marbles. We had a caprese salad and the tomato had a yucky split in it. I pointed it out to the waiter who had the amazing response of "well how does it taste!" I told him I would not expect to pay $14 for a tomato I wouldn't buy in a grocery store. Ten minutes later he brought one extra slice of tomato. We asked for the manager and mentioned the issue. His his equally amazing reply was "yeah that's why we brought you an extra slice of tomato and I said my point was I thought he should be aware of the food and he said "well I can't be responsible for what goes on in the kitchen." That guy has zero business managing a restaurant. So all in all bad food and really bad attitude. I wonder if the one in NW is this bad. Pic below read more

Been here twice and so far so good. I love the OVOO and Bread with a pinch of salt to start things off. Hits the spot every time. It seems the lunch crowd is primarily people having business meetings/lunches. Not bad, but definitely noticeable. I had the braised beef penne and it was good. A tiny hint of espresso was in it and was something new for me. Needless to say, I finished the whole plate. Great to go eat when its sunny out, especially because the large garage doors open up and you can eat in the courtyard area. I'll be back. And with the prices of entrees hovering around 10-14 or so dollars, you can't really break the bank with that every now and then. read more

The dishes were full of flavor and I was so impressed by the service. The entire staff seemed to work as a team. Our server managed multiple tables with ease, fully supported by the rest of the team. Our glasses were consistently full, food was timely and dessert menus were provided at the perfect time. We made a reservation over the phone for same-day and they were incredibly accommodating. When we arrived, we were taken straight to our table. The ambiance is beautifully lit with large windows looking out to the water feature on the patio. Our table was large and while there was surrounding sounds we could hear each other perfectly. Very lovely and nice ambiance. We will return. Plates range on average between $15-30. read more

Authentic Italian food. They can adjust and make any veggie pasta. The wine selection was quite good. We loved gelatos and tiramisu.

Top-notch Italian restaurant! A client introduced me to Mingo last night and we had such a wonderful time! I tried pork lasagna, and it was delicious with plenty to take home for another meal. We chose a special featured Valpolicella wine which was a wonderful compliment to our meal. Bread was super fresh. Service was friendly and outstanding. We had plenty of privacy at our large community table to catch up on business and life. So many laughs while we sipped wine and enjoyed our meal. We also loved the garage doors which were pulled up for the full open-air seating effect on such a lovely night. Everything was absolutely perfect. I cannot wait to surprise my husband with our next date night at Mingo. read more

Picked Mingo to take my bestie for his birthday. It was Christmas Eve so this could be one reason why the experience wasn't great. I had a reservation for 4, seated pretty quickly. Our cocktails were amazing. The waitress however, did forget to bring them twice...as well as a few other things. I ordered the lasagna which I couldn't even eat. It was stated to be a béchamel and marinara lasagne but I only noticed béchamel, which was overpowered by way to many onions. The other dishes were ok. I had such high hopes. I will give Mingo anther chance. read more

We visited Mingo West over the weekend. I would describe it as OK. Nothing offensive, but nothing terrific, either. Correction - the service was terrific. From the host to the busboy to our waitress, everyone was prompt, attentive, and polished; leading to the greater than 20% tip. The wine was good too. They were offering a 20% discount on bottles, so the bottle of very good Chianti Rufina we ordered was less than 30% over retail. It would have cost us more to bring a store-bought bottle to the restaurant and pay the $15 corkage fee. The food, on the other hand, was a bit of a disappointment. The Mingo salad was sparse (just a few romaine leaves, croûtons, dressing, and a little bit of parmesan, if I recall. I finished wanting a bit more garlic and perhaps a little more acid - either white wine vinegar or lemon juice. I ordered the braised short ribs with white polenta and rapini. White polenta, it seems, is pretty much the same as hominy grits - bland, almost tasteless starch. I prefer yellow polenta. The rapini was good, but hard to find buried under the ribs and polenta. I cook shortribs at home every now and then and often order them when I go out to see how others prepare them. These were flanken-cut and cooked to perfect, unctuous tenderness , but their seasoning was disappointing. The reduced braising liquid was richly colored but seemed to lack flavor. I don't know why - perhaps too few vegetables and aromatics in the braise? Water instead of beef stock and wine for the braising liquid? I couldn't tell. The serving was huge - my wife and I could have split it and we would have been full after eating. But a large serving of relatively bland food does not an enjoyable dinner make. We may return to give Mingo West another try. But the initial visit was more of take it or leave it proposition. The food needs some work in my opinion. read more

I was here for a business lunch. The menu was quite small but all the choices looked worthwhile. I had a piedmontese beef burger. The flavor of the beef was certainly distinct and a little more herbal than what you'd expect. The staff was helpful and the service reasonably quick. read more

Food nice. Service a bit slow even with restaurant half-empty at lunch time. REALLY disappointed that bread - butter - olive oil is not offered or included as a matter of course. When I asked for it, after reminding me I had to pay for it, I got some cold bread and olive oil. Really? Don't tell me the prices you charge leave you no margin for nice bread! And here is a tip: if you put the bread in the oven a couple of minutes (the service was not fast in any event), it tastes much better. I did say the place was OK. The food tasted very nice! But sometimes is the small things that make the difference. read more

Been here a few times, I am not overly happy with this place. The food is OK, sometimes it seems like it came straight from the box from the freezer. Kind of sterile inside and can be load. It looks like it is in a strip mall and it kind of is. A little pricey for what you get, service can be a little slow but in most cases it is friendly and attentive. Had the best service in the bar area. Over all I would say this place is OK but if I had my choice I would go some place else. read more

I was introduced to Mingo on a girls night out and unfortunately was quite disappointed. My intention was to have a light dinner and a couple of drinks before attending a performance. What I got for about $35 was a very simple, small salad that was just greens with a couple of tomatoes and drenched in oil along with a small bowl/cup of soup (which was the only good thing about my meal) and a drink. The drink was not only tasteless, but also 95% ice. At $12 for a whisky sour that's not acceptable. Tasted like maybe a lemonade. Not sure how it came out so bland but that would be why I didn't order another drink from them. Cut my losses and moved on... read more

We love this place. I do think it's a little over priced. BUT, so worth it - the staff is always so kind, atmosphere is exactly our taste (not super casual but a tad dressy) food is wonderful - love how it's a seasonal menu and their specials are great, and good drink selection. We've created some priceless memories here and will continue to do so. read more

Ever since one of my clients took me to Mingo for lunch a few years ago, I've insisted on going here every time I have a meeting in Beaverton. The artichoke ravioli is definitely a favorite, though I've never been disappointed with anything on the menu. The cocktails are great, and it's one place I can always count on to have Campari on-hand. Service is always excellent and love the outdoor seating. read more

Mingo is a diamond in the Beaverton restaurant rough. Usually, when it's time to choose someplace for a fun and tasty dinner out, my wife and I immediately start thinking of our favorite places in Portland. Even with our two-year-old. For the most part, folks in Beaverton troop into large chain restaurants by default. The unfortunate fact is, that's largely all we have to choose from. Luckily for us, Mingo has survived in its out-of-place and somewhat out-of-the-way setting and is among the best options for dining in the vicinity. Also, fans of the well-established Caffe Mingo in NW Portland will not be disappointed. The bar area is somewhat intimate but doesn't feel closed-off. The main dining space is open but not cavernous, and somehow manages to combine the feel of a small, hip neighborhood restaurant with an urban, businesslike vibe. The food follows the lead of the Portland version, offering relatively straightforward Italian food that's tasty and flavorful, and is different enough to avoid seeming run-of-the-mill. Unlike many Italian restaurants, diners at Mingo won't be secretly thinking that they could have easily prepared their dinner themselves. I haven't tried enough of the menu to recommend any one dish above all others, but I haven't been let down yet. In Beaverton, it's important to be family (read: child) friendly. Even though there's no dedicated kid's menu that I've seen, Mingo was hosting several families with young children early on a recent Thursday evening. It didn't detract from the scene a bit, which was as lively as ever. For us, they made a nice smallish cheese pizza that our son gobbled up. As has been mentioned, the service has been stellar as well. All in all, I'd enthusiastically recommend Mingo to anyone and everyone I know. And while Beaverton is still a long way from keeping us out of Portland at mealtimes, it's nice that we have at least one top-tier option like Mingo right in our backyards. read more

There just aren't that many great restaurants in the Beaverton area, so the fact that Mingo is close to home is big deal for us. I've eaten here a few times and like all restaurants, some things are better than others. Their crab crepes are phenomenal, but they weren't available the last time I went in. I would go there just for the crepes so I hope they put them back on the menu soon. The atmosphere is nice and everything we've had has been well prepared. The menu is great and their lasagna, which changes frequently has been fantastic. Yes, go to Mingo and enjoy your meal. read more

Food was overpriced for the quality other than that, food was not bad. I was really disgusted by the 20 flies on the light above our table.

We have loved Mingo in the past! On our most recent visit (this evening) we learned that they charge for bread now. Odd and doesn't appear on the menu, just on the bill. We have been going to Mingo for many years and haven't had this experience before. Hidden charges aren't awesome. Even when the bread charge was a small percentage of the bill, it's just odd and left us with a bad taste in our mouths. If you're going to charge for bread just add it to your app menu instead of offering it to folks as they're seated. read more

I've loved this place for years. We went a few weeks ago, and the food and service are still top-notch. I was concerned about going out during the pandemic. Mingo is observing best-practices, and has done an outstanding job of modifying their dining space and reservation system! We were completely comfortable. They have a well-curated wine list too! read more

I hate the suburbs. I hate eating the mediocre menu offerings typically found in the suburbs. Discovering Mingo was like finding a shiny new pony in a sea of old boring horses. They start you off with bread and olive oil that is so good you could drink it over ice and these crazy delicious breadsticks. I don't know much about wine, but my husband does. He was thrilled with the wine list. I was thrilled with the bottle that he picked. Something Portuguese and fantastic. Our server was very knowledgeable and you could tell that he was very excited about the food. We got the penne al sugo, a ceasar salad and a margherita pizza. The penne and the ceasar salad were incredible. I would order those again. The pizza was really delicious too but the risotto dish and the fish that the folks next to us were eating looked amazing and I would probably venture away from the simple pizza next time. The fact that Mingo is on a Max line is nice. I plan on coming here for happy hour very soon. The suburbs have redeemed themselves! read more

Great atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. I went there for lunch with an old friend and we both really enjoyed the food. I had the Risotto and she had the the Ravioli. Neither of us were dissatisfied with our meals, some of the best Italian I have had! It is tucked away and entrance through the center of the round but easily found. Very large dining space and entire place was clean. Now I cannot do chocolate but my friend had their truffles for desert with orange and sea salt and as they say in Hawaii Broke-Da-Mouth (so delicious it makes your mouth water thinking about them) I would definitely go back and recommend this to anyone looking for a great meal in Beaverton area. read more

The environment is great, good decor and nice with open garage doors. The service was good, not exceptional. I felt the food came up short and was somewhat overpriced. My ravioli dish was very bland. The ravioli themselves and the very runny flavorless sauce were not good. His pizza was good and our bruschetta appetizer was good. But they charge 13$ for a single large piece of bruschetta. I'm willing to pay big price for great food, but this, unfortunately, was not good food. read more

We have been regulars for several years and love the entire experience. Food is fresh and imaginative, the regular dishes are excellent and the staff who have been around for awhile are delightful. Stopped in for desert and drinks. The tiramisu and canoli we're great. Went wonderfully with their Spanish coffee.

A nice find in a nice space. A seasonal, fresh menu. Nothing boring or over top but more than satisfying. Risotto was perfect. The ravioli fresh and flavorful. The Mingo salad totally splittable. But the olive oil cake is too good to share. On Sundays bottles of wine are 20% off; great options too. Service was impeccable. read more

I really really love this place. I always go hungry, knowing that there are lots of appetizers that I like - the pork belly is so delicious that I've actually considered getting it as my entree. For beet lovers such as myself, the beet salad is a must as it is beet-liscious! I have always tried something different here, as the menu changes and there are always exciting new things to try that you wouldn't really get elsewhere - which is unusual for this part of town. The bar here is also fabulous if you just want to grab a quick drink or small appetizer - service here is awesome! Definitely a must go when in Beaverton looking for a really good meal! read more

Mingo has a good vibe, and the service was excellent. The food was good, but overpriced. I had the Gnocchi which was tasty but was served in an unrecognizable shape. It came as quarter sized round puffs which I found a bit peculiar. They looked more like polenta cut into circles after it cooled. The flavors were great but the portion was small for $12. Next up was the crab cake appetizer. The potion size was good, flavors were spot on and it was not filled with a lot of bread crumb filler, which was definitely a plus. The lemon-lime aioli needed work--it tasted and looked more like a big dollop of mayo. Adding more seasoning and texture...possibly adding some capers, tobacco, lemon, salt and pepper to the mix would be good. The arugula salad with Meyer lemon oil, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto at $14 is wayyyy overpriced. The salad is arranged with arugula on the bottom, topped prosciutto, with a splash of lemon oil. But the arugula was not dressed prior to dropping it on the plate--not even salt or pepper. Arugula should not be served undressed, with no seasoning. Serving it straight out of the bag/container is not acceptable in a restaurant setting. The accompanied mozzarella was low quality, which was a huge disappointment, especially when you're paying such a high price for an appetizer. The Spiedini di Gamberi, which was a skewer of prawns and croutons was tasty, but the croutons were over seasoned with (I believe) red chili flakes, making the croutons almost inedible (and I like hot, spicy, food). $14 was overpriced for this dish. Overall, the environment was great, as was the staff. The food could be top notch with a little motivation/oversight, but prices have to be reined in for me to come back. I opted out of dinner selections, because I can't get behind $22 for selections such as lasagna or spaghetti. The prices reflect San Francisco, NY or LA prices, but we're in Beaverton people! Keep your prices in check. read more

Went here with a friend on my lunch hour for their spring menu. She had the vegetable risotto which she loved, and I had the fettuccine (it was spicy with artichokes and a few other veggies, and proscuitto - I forget the name). Overall it was ok, the pasta is cooked to al dente if you like that sort of thing (classic Italian), but I found it to be overly oily. I verge on the healthy side of eating, and I know it's still only olive oil, but honestly, when I finished my pasta there was a pool of olive oil remaining. Other than that, the waiter was very attentive and answered all our questions about the menu. read more
