OKThe atmosphere of the restaurant is not too bad. They have a big screen TV which has a slide show of the menu. I was impressed by their extensive menu however the taste of the things on the menu cannot be guaranteed. We had jjambong, pork box, and pork sausage soup. They were all bland and not up to the standards I was expecting. The jjambong tasted just like a squid soup. I got a feeling they just added more veggies and noodles to a squid soup. I ate one bite and stopped. The box was pretty good. The sausage soup was okay at best. The rice that came with the soup was kind of hard and cool. I don't think that I would go back unless I'm going to eat something like hot stone bibimbap (something no one should be able to mess up). Even that I don't think is worth the price. Min Ga has become my go-to Korean place. From stews like yukjaechang to big plates for a group, the food here is authentic and a cut above. The condiments that come free with every meal are plentiful and always delicious. Another plus about this restaurant is that the quality of the food is always consistently high and the staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

The only thing I can suggest if you come here is to not get the spicy ramen as it tastes very much identical to the instant noodles, Nongshim Shin Ramyun. I visited Min Ga on my own after some Korean friends recommended it to me. I have been back several times. I usually order their BBQ short ribs (Kalbi). That plus the side dishes (Banchan) is more then enough for most single people. When I've been to Min Ga with friends, I've also ordered their fried dumplings (Mandu). You also can ask for the Korean Barely Tea (Boricha) either hot or cool. I ordered my food on door dash while I was in town for work. I got the Sam Gyeop Sal, the description says "Marinated" but the pork was tasteless and dry. The Japchae also had no flavor. The banchan that they gave with the order was better off left back at the restaurant because it was 2 pcs of broccoli and 3 small pcs of kimchee. If you are used to delicious Korean food, please do not waste your money and time on Minga. Menu is over priced for quality of food. Maybe if they tasted their food prior to serving and added a few packets of soy sauce to the bag it would have helped. read more

This is quite possibly one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. The wide selection of Icelandic food here is incredibly authentic. The servers and waiters here are allegedly descendants of Guy Fieri, which definitely enhanced the sentimental value of getting a meal here. Very diverse cuisine, offering Hispanic, African, European, Cuban, and American food. They had this weird thing called Korean, which caught me off guard at first, but I'm always open to new experiences. Many of my friends insist that this is their favorite Korean restaurant in the area but I still stand by Chosun Ok. While Min Ga does have an extensive menu, it still is on the pricey side as an average meal will cost around $15. Plus, no purple rice. That being said, the server did bring us as many side dishes as we asked for (three times) and the food was decent. I ordered the fermented tofu casserole soup (can't remember the Korean name) since it was one of the cheaper options on the menu. However, I was disappointed when the soup came with only a few pieces of tofu. At least the broth was good. I also sampled my friends' bibim naeng myun and haemul dolsot bibimbap and if I do ever come again with friends, I will be getting the naeng myun (cold buckwheat noodles with beef and broth). All in all though, I'm a sucker for the purple rice at Chosun Ok and will probably stick to going there to get my fix of Korean food. read more

A group of us decided to try Min Ga Friday night based on Yelp reviews. This sit down restaurant is your typical standard Asian style restaurant and very clean. I made reservations over the phone and I am glad I did because there wasn't a table open when we left around 8pm. They have a good size menu with Korean and English to describe the dishes and photos for most items. I ordered a Plum Wine ($5 a glass) and my friend ordered a Sapporo. They have a selection of 4-5 beers (no draft), sake and different wines to choose from. We started with the pork dumplings ($12.95)- steamed with pork, tofu, bean sprouts, vermicelli noodles and scallions. One might think this price is steep but you get 12 or so large dumplings and they were delicious. Fresh ingredients and a wonderful ginger/green onion/soy sauce to dip them in. For my entrée I went with the Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap ($12.95)- steamed white rice topped with vegetables, beef, and fried egg. Served in a sizzling hot stone pot with pepper paste sauce on the side. Heaven I tell you! Everything worked well together, the pepper sauce made everything taste even better and after the dish sat awhile the rice at the bottom formed this wonderful crust to it. Best Korean food I have had and I have visited Korea before. It was also served with a tofu soup not listed on the menu (surprise!) and it was delicious as well. My brother ended up getting the Beef Bulgoki ($21.95). The portion size is small for the price in my opinion and it didn't wow either one of us. The Ban Chan's (7 all together) were nice here as well. The waitress brought them out before our meals and I asked her to go over what was what and she did a great job explaining. The Kimchi radish stood out for me and I couldn't get enough of them. I am looking forward to coming back and trying some other menu items but it will be hard not to order the hot stone pot again. Walking out we noticed they have a garden outback behind the restaurant which is a very good sign. If you haven't tried Korean food before I think this is a great place to start and if you enjoy Korean food I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Service was wonderful, but I thought the food was just ok. I went with a Korean friend for lunch (for it was closest at the time) and she warned me not to get the soondubu. We both got the bibimbap but without the stone bowl since that would have been $2 more. There was a variety of side dishes included (perhaps about 6), including my favorite spicy cucumbers and one with the soy-based potatoes. Loved the barley hot tea, as always. The bibimbap was a bit bland though, and I guess without the stone bowl, it gets cold quick (who knew, eh?). According to my Korean friend, spinach is usually used and not the greens we found in this dish. read more

Update: food is better, finally!!!! I don't understand why such a nice-looking restaurant has such poor service. The lady there wasn't even remotely polite. She gave me a look every time I asked for something. The food didn't have the strong flavor i was looking for. It also would be reasonable if the price is half of what it is. The free appetizer is tiny and no refill unless you can put up the time of waiting and the look from the waitress. It is worth trying but no coming back for sure. Oh, one more thing. For almost $20, you get a small bowl of spicy hot water with a tiny amount of soft tofu (broken into small pieces), some rock-hard shredded beef, some pickles, and a small bowl of very mediocre white rice. It is such an embarrassment to Korean food, which could be amazing if done right. I give one star for the nice service (although the waiters speak with very heavy accent), okay decoration, very clean bathroom, and easy parking. I live in Durham and I always had to trek to Seoul Garden in Raleigh to get good Korean food UNTIL I FOUND MINGA! I come here at least twice a month for their food. The price is a little steep for the food, but that seems to be the typical price range for Korean food in the Triangle. Banchan (free side dishes) are delicious and refillable! I recommend the (chicken?) gizzards and any of their soups. Would definitely come here more often if the price was lower though! read more

What a nice surprise! The food is fresh, tasty and plentiful. The 'boxes' are a 5-item meal of BBQ, rice , vege, sushi , salad and kim chi--beautiful presentation. All the meals come with small dishes of sides--nice variety of Korean foods. The atmosphere is warm with low lights and wood tones. I had a spicy octopus noodle dish that was really great. - Excellent, attentive service. - Lots of free side dishes and free hot herbal tea. Cons: Pretty certain I got horrible food poisoning. Woke up promptly at 5 AM the next morning and spent the entire day vomiting and nauseous. No fever, chills, muscle aches, or any other symptoms, so norovirus or other bugs were ruled were ruled out. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to eat or even think about Korean food for some time. I left one extra star on there because I was only only one who got sick. This place is sooo close to being 5 Stars, if they lowered their prices by about 20%, that might be the difference. Fellow Yelpers got it right! It is a bit pricey and most of us can appreciate value for our money. I'm guessing they've built the cost of the Banchan (side dishes) into things.That being said, the food here is really, really good. Clean, quaint, great lighting. Staff was very helpful in narrowing down selections because I wanted to eat EVERYTHING! The Steamed Tofu (a ton) appetizer was so simple and wonderful with its sauce. The Pan Fried Dumplings were different and delicious - can't remember the last time I had beef in a dumpling - almost seemed deep fried to crunchy goodness. The pork Bulgoki - I literally lost my mind it was so good - spicy and tender - and the bottom pieces charred and stuck to the grill - oh yes!! The Shrimp Bokum was good as well but a bit bland and not as spicy as I would have liked. Killer hot green tea. Totally enjoyed the meal and had to stop eating or unbutton my pants in public. Not pleased with my experience. Our green tea was tepid and our miso soup was even colder. We had dumplings and spring rolls that both tasted frozen. The Ginger dressing on the salad was good, a bit sweeter than normal. The "sides" she brought out were interesting, some were good and some terrible. Our server was nice. A bit clueless at times. She never brought us out plates which was weird because we were sharing several appetizers. The ambience was nice. Good Korean food in a nice family friendly environment. The waitstaff and the cooks are very friendly although, for some of them, their command of the English may require some hand-signals and menu pointing augmentation during the ordering process. It's all good though. Makes it more authentic imo. They have a big selection of traditional Korean fare. I hate to say this because the staff is always so nice and hard working, but the food isn't going to blow you away. So if you have a refined Korean palate and/or big expectations, you might not be too thrilled. That goes from the ban chan all the way to the bulgogi. However, I've never been explicitly disappointed with anything I've ordered and I've been very happy with some of the things like the premium kalbi, ja ja min, duk boki, and duk mandu. Oh, last thing, beware if they are very busy when you arrive. They have a small kitchen and, depending on when you visit, the wait staff may not be particularly efficient (again, hard working but perhaps a bit...random in their serving process and prioritization). If they are not busy, it's great. But if they get hit with a large group all at once, you will need to put on your "patience is a virtue" hat in order to make it through the experience without lasting emotional food trauma. Ever since I moved to Durham 3 years ago, I've reconciled myself to the fact that good Korean food just wasn't going to be easy to come by. I've been to a few places in Raleigh and Cary which were good but were still a half hour drive without traffic. So, eating Korean food on a regular basis just wasn't going to be possible.... until now! I was excited to read the reviews on MinGa and though mixed I thought I would give it a try. The place is tucked away off of 15/501. Nice enough to have a special dinner but also casual enough to go to any other day. They have a weekday lunch special that looks good and I'm going to be sure to try at some point. I ordered the beef and daikon soup which is one of my favorite korean foods; soothing on a cold night, filling, but not heavy served with a bowl of good, sticky, Korean white rice. I have to admit I was very surprised at how good their soup was. In addition, the banchan (appetizers that come with the meal) were good too. Nicely fermented with a decent number of choices. We received 6-7 banchan options and they all tasted fresh and homemade. My friends ordered the Bulgogi and Dukpokki (rice cakes in a spicy sauce) and both were authentically delicious. Keep in mind it's not the best Korean food I've ever had but given there aren't a lot of choices for even PASSable Korean food in the area, I think this place is pretty awesome. read more

Not as great as NY Korean, the Bibimbop rice isn't toasted and crispy like in most stone pots, but the food is delicious, the portions are LARGE, the complimentary starter is generous, and the atmosphere is amazing. It's also pretty healthy stuff and some of the tastiest veggie dishes I've had in a long time. Please, people, give this restaurant your business.
