Our food hasn't been bad, just bland. We have tried the Szechuan Tofu and Garlic Chicken, and neither had a whiff of heat. The Sweet & Sour Shrimp was literally 80% batter and to be clear: there are no vegetables. It is just the batter-fried shrimp. We have tried other dishes, all bland and unremarkable. The one standout that others comment on is the crab Rangoon. I am vegetarian so I haven't tried it, but they are huge and reportedly excellent. It is carry-out only, convenient enough, and the people seem very nice, but we probably won't try it again.

However, the food is hit or miss and almost always on the cooler side. The tea is usually barely warm and I find the egg and spring rolls very mushy in the center. I do wish they had a rule about kids getting their own food though as i saw a child pick up a noodle off his plate and drop it back into the buffet. Ick. The first clue was the Cold Sesame Noodles appetizer that we tried. A generous portion and as close as I have had, to Chinatown taste. The hot and sour soup was served cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen to be heated, but once it was hot it was as good a soup as I have had. Egg rolls were crispy and crunchy and we all enjoyed them but the Duck Sauce was very watery. That could be improved. We had shrimp with lobster sauce which couldn't have been any better. Wonderful flavor and huge fresh shrimp. The boneless ribs were the star of the show. Big meaty chunks of pork rib piled high on the plate. Every table around us ordered them. Sweet and charred crispy, they are a must have! The fried rice was NY style with bits of pork and a hint of vegetables mixed in. I would have given Joy Wah 5 stars for the food but our waiter was just a little bit below par. We ordered several dishes to share but never were offered plates to share with. When we asked for to go boxes he bought us boxes too small for amounts of food on our plates. And he had his face in his phone the entire time we were there. If he paid more attention this would have been a 5 star review.

This is not the first time it has been this way, but this is the first time I have complained. $16.95 plus a 15 minute drive to fetch. The next day, I called and spoke to the owner, explained the issue and she told me if I brought her the remaining dish she would give me a credit for next time. I wasn't even asking for my money back. We ate there at least once a month. I drove back with the remains and she looked at it, gave me a frown and told me she would give me 1/2 the credit. This used to be a good restaurant with good service. It has gone very poor in many respects. Being one of three Chinese places in driving distance, we are something of a captive audience, but never again. We will go without rather than pay for food we end up not eating. There was a pretty good portion of shrimp in the dish, but barely any chicken or beef! I mean, barely! None of the chicken or beef pieces was bigger than a nickel around, and there were hardly any! My wife had the Pad Thai noodles, and it was the same case - hardly any shrimp or chicken! To pay almost 14 dollars per dish and get mostly a couple of dollars worth of noodles and sauce (the sauce was tasty) is robbery! We won't be back!

The prices here are pretty good, most items are priced under $11 with a few special dishes $11.05-$13.75. 25 Daily Combination Platters served with choice of rice and choice of one appetizer are offered for lunch ($5.55-$6.15) and dinner (after 3PM $7.45-$8.05). This is the typical order at the counter Chinese restaurant with self serve booth seating for eating in. The temperature in the dining/waiting area was on the very warm side. The kitchen area is not open, but visible through the revolving door. For takeout, I ordered the Lunch Combo 4: Shrimp Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice and 2 Chicken Teriyakis. The food was ready in under 10 minutes. The portion of food was a good amount. The lo mein noodles (light yellow) were soft and slightly overdone which had minimal vegetables (carrot & cabbage) and tender soft shrimp (cleaned). The lo mein dish had an unusual sweet taste. The pork fried rice (light tan) was decent, which had a mix of soft firm rice, egg, and tender roast pork cubes. The chicken teriyaki sticks were sweet tasting on the outside and the boneless chicken was chewy consisting of some yellow chicken fat, which I needed to trim off before eating. Overall, the lunch was filling, the price was reasonable (for lunch), and fairly decent and not bad. I may be back in here for lunch. NOTE: No checks accepted, but they accept MC and Visa.

I usually get the same thing, General Tso's Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and two Chicken Teriyaki sticks. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the Chicken on here, so I'm going to put my two cents in. As someone that gets it regularly I quite enjoy it, the sauce is definitely thicker than a lot of other places but it doesn't really bother me that much, it still tastes great! As for the Pork Fried Rice, overall it's got good flavor, can be a little dry from time to time and usually color wise it looks pretty dull but definitely a good option if you're not a fan of white rice. The Chicken Teriyaki is consistently good, it's always tender, moist and flavorful. Overall, although I'm not familiar with all of their food I'd definitely recommend going and trying it yourself!
