Cai's Dim Sum Catering is perfect for takeout. Not so much for catering, though. The food is terrific, but the seating is not so nice. There is only one inside table and the ones outside are uncomfortable. Still, I would really recommend this place for takeout. read more

So... this might actually be my favorite new restaurant!! :) Our daughter turned 18 two days ago, and she wanted dim sum so I called... Turns out that they are mainly take-away, but when I mentioned that we were looking for a special way to celebrate-- well, they pulled out all the stops! We would up with an AMAZING private dining experience where they decorated just for her and we ate her special meal in an art gallery!! What?!? So perfect and lovely!! Her two friends (one vegetarian and one GF and dairy-free) were amazed how much food there was for them, given their restrictions-- and the food was SO delicious and authentic!! Did I mention that we lived in China? So, when I say authentic, I am not kidding! The pork bao brought us all right back to Shanghai-- and the amazing variety of dumplings was fantastic and creative! And delicious!! The noodles (one spicy w/o peanuts and one mild but with) were lovely and filling! We are already plotting what next event we might have here just so we can return!! The food was amazing. The owner is an artist who cooks authentic Chinese food right from her studio. It's take out only but you can enjoy her incredible art as you wait. It's the best Chinese food I've had in Vermont. Definitely worth stopping if you are in the area! read more

Quirky, charming restaurant/art gallery out of a family's house. The chef is Chinese and an artist. Her work, as well as the work of other local artists, are featured in a gallery setting throughout the downstairs of the 200-year-old house. Her husband is great at chatting up the customers. I hope to stop by every time I pass through Brattleboro now. The food is great. There are a plethora of choices, including vegan. I recommend everything but the mushroom dumplings, which I found rather grainy and greasy. Vermont limits the size of signs, so the restaurant is easy to miss. It's in a very ordinary-looking Vermont house, and the sign for the art gallery is more prominent than the restaurant, so look carefully. It's just east of the big Unitarian church on Rte 9. Enjoy. I had a DoorDash delivery and it was nice and hot when I received. Whoever said the food was bland must have been coming down with a cold or something bc it definitely wasn't. It tasted extremely good to me! Nicely seasoned but not heavily. I thought the price was high for the Box of Abundance Chicken but the portion size was awesome! If you are a heavy eater maybe small for you but doubt it. Maybe you are used to those Chinese food buffets idk! I would definitely order again when I'm in town read more

A very pleasant experience overall. My wife and I were on our way to Wilmington and had wanted to try Cai's Dim Sum for over a year now. We only get to the area 4-5 times per year and this time through we pulled in spur of the moment on a Sunday night 10 mins after they closed. Even though he started cleaning up, Adam didn't hesitate to offer to fire up the stoves and make us some dumplings and steamed buns while we walked around the art gallery! What a pleasant surprise and thoughtful gesture! Yes we were starving, but the food did not disappoint. The sticky buns were perfect specially when topped with some of the hot chili spice. The dumplings were really delicious as well. The beef dumplings were the better of the two, but the mushroom dumplings were good too. We will certainly be back for another visit and we can't wait to more fully explore the menu. Thank you for taking time after you closed to provide such a delicious snack. Food as art! Expertly made dim sum with fresh local ingredients is one thing -- but the presentation is another level. This isn't your ordinary "Chinese Take away," it is art in food form made by this family business in the heart of Brattleboro, Vermont. The spring rolls are fresh and a truly interesting combination of flavors. Then dumplings and pork buns are a great place to continue, and the "Box Abundance" was abundant indeed! We found this on Yelp and are so glad we did! Lots of GF options, which admittedly weren't as good as the gluten full ones, but that's usually the case. Pork box, chicken box, pork bun, szechuan noodles were all fantastic. GF scallion pancake was a little burnt and needs some more scallions, but still pretty good. The mushroom dumplings were a bit disappointing, but not inedible. This will definitely be on our list for takeout whenever we're in town! My boyfriend and his family went to Vermont for a snowboarding trip and we came across Cai's Dim Sum Catering. Considering how highly rated this place was, we were all extremely excited and had very high hopes for this place. However as soon as we opened our boxes, we were deeply saddened because the food was not memorable and defiantly not authentic dim sum... FYI, if you're from NY/NJ and used to authentic dim sum, this place is not for you. Pros: The owner was incredibly attentive! He welcomed us soon as we parked into the driveway! Adam was super welcoming and sweet to our family. However his kindness was the ONLY highlight of Cai's Dim Sum .... Cons: Their website says their cuisine roots from Sichuan and Shainghai however the only Sichuan-ny taste is the chili oil that you can buy at the grocery store. We ordered Pork Dumplings, Pork Bun, Sichuan Style Noodles, Egg Custard and the Cabbage soup. Except for the Cabbage soup, everything was way over priced for the amount of food that you get and everything lacked flavor. Cai's Dim Sum was disappointing to say the least. read more

I had no idea how much I needed the spring roll, but when I bit into it, I was immediately reminded just how good fresh food can feed the soul. The crunch - so satisfying. I also ordered the Box Abundance Pork Riblets - and they were delicious, the meat really did fall off the bone. The entire thing in a box concerned me before ordering, but I was very pleased with the result. I sat in my car and ate much of my meal before driving off (I had a long drive ahead) - and my biggest regret is I live over 2 hours away and cannot enjoy this food more often. I am looking forward to visiting again, and know exactly where I'll be eating on my next trip to Brattleboro. read more

Absolutely wonderful home cooked food, fresh and delicious. We are locals and it took us awhile to order here, but once we did we have come back again and again. Everything we have tried on the menu has been great. It's also nice there are gluten free, vegetarian and vegan option. And the packaging is all recyclable. What's not to like?! read more

Everything was so delicious and super fresh. We ordered pork steamed buns, dumplings, scallion pancake, and the chicken box. We stopped here for pick up after a long drive on Thanksgiving and were so surprised to find such high quality food. Usually you can only find a McDonald's. Also, have to add they were so friendly! Cai's was one of the first restaurants I bookmarked before coming to the Brattleboro area. I love dim sum and have had the opportunity to try it many different places! My fiance and I had been looking forward to trying out the local dim sum that is only available by way of a private reservation at their tea house, or weekly at the farmer's market on Saturdays! We each ordered the 6 piece dumpling and vegetarian bun at the farmer's market booth, and it was pretty good! It definitely tasted clean and fresh, but it wasn't amazing. The flavor didn't knock you over, and I understand that the area is very health/food conscious. If you're used to greasy, flavor packed, China Town dim sum, this is not that. All in all, it's nice that a town this small even has this as an option-it's worth checking out if you get the chance. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would have. First off, the online ordering system is amazing and super user friendly. Second, I ordered 65 dollars worth of dim sum and it was ready in 30 minutes. Third, it was some of the best Asian food I have ever had. The dim sum was perfect and the flavors/ variety's offered were amazing. We got an order of each kind that was offered that day. There are some vegan/ vegetarian options daily. The buns (we got the pork bun and sweet bean bun) were also cooked to perfection and super flavorful. We also ordered dessert which was the icing on the cake, pun intended. Once the order was placed I was told when it'd be ready and when I arrived it was brought right out to my car. The customer service was excellent and professional. This afternoon we has the chance to try out Cai's Dim Sum while spending the afternoon at Gallery Walk. We originally decided to try this stand after seeing the fresh dumplings being made, but while waiting in line our mouths began to water looking at all the other delicious foods. We ended up purchasing an order of dumplings, a pork bun and a tea egg which were all great. The dumpling filling was incredibly fresh and the pork bun had a great consistency. The tea egg didn't quite suit our taste, but our friends loved them. In the end the food was great, the staff was polite and the whole experience was enjoyable. The only critiques were that the price was a bit high, the line took a while and paying a dollar to swipe our credit card was unexpected. read more

We are visiting from the Philadelphia area. Our Airbnb host recommended Cai's. Everything we ordered was amazing. It tasted so fresh.

This is one of those spectacular accidental finds which has become a tradition. We go back and forth between CT and VT a lot, and now always stop to pick up their amazing food - bao to die for, perfect scallion pancakes, etc. We then go sit on the bleachers at the Brattleboro ski hill and eat and watch.
