We have used Mindy's Bakeshop numerous times (bridal shower, weddings, etc.), and each time the orders were as promised and delicious! I have placed small orders (a few dozen cupcakes) and large orders (over twelve dozen), and they have all been perfectly designed and well packaged. Mindy is extremely easy to work with, and her ability to deliver as promised made my life much easier when I needed large orders. I had the pleasure of enjoying a cake made by Mindy's. I am a bit of a cake snob and knew that I wanted a Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Not a type readily available in most bakeries. I chose Mindy's site unseen and no tastings to create a two tiers cake for my son's rehearsal dinner. Oh my the most delicious, beautiful cake I have had the pleasure to eat. A work of delicious art. The buttercream was slickly, smooth, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. The cake was moist with a beautiful crumb - outstanding. I choose the Mexican vanilla cake with buttercream and filled with a fresh strawberry compote (which I got extra of to drizzle on the pieces, so glad I did) for the bottom cake and a chocolate cake with Nutella and hazelnut buttercream. I wish I lived in Austin so I could order more cakes from Mindy's. Thank you Mindy for the beautiful cake and your outstanding talent and professionalism. This review is solely on their customer service and communication. Sent in an inquiry through their website form that said I would receive a response in 72 hours I believe about a little over a month ago for a date that would be two months away at the time. I never received any follow up or communication. I was giving them a grace period as I understand they probably receive many a day. Well over a month had passed so I finally emailed a follow up only to be told they were already booked for something bigger. I'm unsure why they couldn't have said that over a month ago when I originally inquired and why they didn't try to accommodate for a different date seeing as they messed up with their own system of communication. I'm so disappointed as I really wanted to purchase from them but do not see myself returning after this experience. They need a better inquiry process that doesn't leave potential customers with zero communication. read more

I did Mindy's Christmas cookie decorating class at Paper + Craft Pantry this December and it is now my life goal to be Mindy. Seriously. She makes cookie decorating look so easy- and with her instruction, cookie decorating is a completely accessible hobby for those of us who are less creatively inclined! Mindy was super sweet and encouraging the entire time, and the cookie designs and techniques that she taught us varied in difficulty, so that people at different skill levels still felt challenged and like they were having a fun time! I got 2 dozen custom cookies from Mindy's as a party favor for a bachelorette weekend. They were an absolute hit! Mindy was so sweet when I was trying to explain what I was looking for. They turned out exactly how I pictured and tasted delicious too. Pricing was very reasonable for the amount of time and effort it probably took to make these cookies. The only con I had was that she was a little slow to respond to emails and I had to follow up a couple of times with her before I would get a response. Mindy is an amazing baker! I knew this before I booked her to be my cake lady for my wedding. She makes not only beautiful cakes, but they are delish as well! We ended up getting a three tiered Red Velvet cake for me and a chocolate peanut butter cake for the groom's cake. Both were so pretty, I didn't even want to cut them! So glad we chose to use Mindy's Bakeshop for my son's first birthday cupcakes. Having custom, delicious treats that everyone talked about was well worth the investment. Incidentally, I found out that HEB charges the same thing for its gourmet cupcakes. Wouldn't you rather support a small local business? We went with chocolate caramel and red velvet cupcakes, both with buttercream icing. The chocolate caramel were the hands-down favorite. They were exceptionally moist. Mindy did a great job designing our wedding cake to fit within a simple barn music festival #barnaroo. We met up one time before the wedding to design some sketches, laugh and joke around, and sample 4-5 of our top flavor choices for the cake (which were beautifully made and decorated just for us).
