This was our group's third time going, but my first review. First of all, I really appreciate MindTrap's customer service. I messed up my order checking out (totally my fault). I called once I realized the issue (around 6pm at night), and they fixed it for me that very night. Excellent customer service! As for the rooms, these 3 rooms (zombie room, conspiracy room, 40 Thieves) were so much fun. High production value compared to other rooms I tried. Feels like you're in a movie! I love that there are multiple puzzles going on at the same time, and they are not all the same "kind," so even after doing 3 rooms, I didn't feel like any puzzle concept was just lazily copied from another room. There is always something for everyone to do. The experience and clues involve all your senses and appeal to different strengths in your group. The gamemasters also do a good job with nudges as needed. There is plenty of content to keep you busy and it is always so much fun! Can't wait to try another room!

Great experience. My son and a few of his buddies completed a 60 minute escape and had a blast! They're chose a challenging room (7/10) but they were able to complete the challenge. Bunch of smart guys in the group and they work well together. They all had a good experience (only 1 guy had done a escape room before). They'll for sure be back to MindTrap Temecula!

This company came highly recommended and I see why. We did the Gold Rush and 40 Thieves and both were incredible. We are HUGE escape room junkies and these were some of the best we've done. My husband and I were looking for something to do on Saturday and ended up booking the Gold Rush room. The room itself and the decor are great! We loved the Old West theme. The staff was very polite and helpful. The only reason for the 3 star review is that we encountered 3 separate technical difficulties which took us out of the game and the experience. One was bad enough that a staff member even had to come in and manually move it. Had it not been for those issues, I would have rated 5 stars. read more

Such a fun experience! Went here with my family yesterday and had Alina as our game master. We did the 40 thieves and I can say this is the best escape room I've done so far. We went for my son's 12th birthday and we had an amazing time. There was a variety of kids and adults doing the Excalibur and it was great for all ages! The host gave us a couple of clues but it was a great feeling being able to accomplish it! We had an amazing time, we will come back! Honestly it was the best escape room I have ever been to. My date and I tried to solve the conspiracy game. The story line was interesting but what blew me away were the tech and interactive elements. I don't want to give anything away but it was so fun and tactile and I will definitely be going again. Also the worker who guided us and helped with clues was really sweet and knew how to read the room when we were having trouble or not:) read more

So much fun! I've done 4 of their escape rooms and they all didn't disappoint. First room I did was Conspiracy, which was challenging but we were all able to work together and escape. Last one I did was The Arena, which was super intense but loads of fun. But not a good one to do as a first escape room experience. I need to find another group of friends to do escape rooms with me because not everyone likes puzzles like I do. read more

Came from LA for a weekend getaway and had a lot of fun in the Conspiracy room! The production value in this one is amazing. I have done about 30+ rooms in the LA/Las Vegas area and this location did not disappoint. Lots of nice little touches in the room. Will be coming back for sure! read more

Just an awesome experience today. Absolutely an incredible escape room facility. We played 40 thieves. The room was so expertly and intricately designed. Much more and elaborate set up than most of the ones we have been to. The music, the stage, the ambience all transported us. These guys are doing a really great job! Definitely visit them. I've never done an escape room before, but the AREA 51 escape room (5/10 difficulty) is great for beginners. It was the perfect difficulty for a first timer, and my friends and I had a lot of fun solving the puzzles. Honestly, we wanted to do another one right after because of how great the experience was. The employees there were also very friendly and accommodating with us throughout our time there. The one guiding us that day, he was very patient with our questions and nice to talk with conversationally. Also, we never felt like we had to rush in getting ready for the escape room. Since we set a reservation, we had a lot of time in getting ready and speaking with the employee heading our party. It's clearly important to them in giving each group plentiful time and attention in order to have a good experience. read more

I've come here a couple of times with my sons and we always have a great time. The best part is that we have to lock up our smart phones, which is great considering otherwise we can never keep our hands off of them. It's such a great time trying to figure out the puzzles, you know, actually using our brains instead of staring brain dead into our IPhones. I went to another Escape Room, it was called Conspiracy with my Granddaughter and her friend Gigi. We didn't make it out in time, but that's ok it was still fun. The three of us went around the room trying to see clues. We did have to ask for s number of clues. They also have another Escape Room called Gold Rush which is my favorite Escape Room out of all the places I've gone. read more

History

Established in 2017.

Nathan, Emma, and their 2 children played their first Escape Room while on vacation in Europe the Summer of 2016, and have been hooked ever since. They love how playing together as a family allows them to communicate with each other and work as a team. It is a great way to get away from phones, computers, and televisions and just enjoy spending time together. This is the reason why MindTrap Escape Room was created. Nathan and Emma wanted to share this experience with other families in Temecula and surrounding neighborhoods.

Parking was easy and convenient. They recommend getting there 15 minutes before your start time to fill out the waiver, watch the safety video, and put on the safety gear. You don't want to eat into your scheduled rage time. They also have escape rooms and paint rooms in addition to the rage room. Staff was friendly and helpful. The safety gear included helmet with a visor, gloves, overalls. You can use your phone to take videos and photos, and hook up to the speaker so you can play your own music. The basic package is 20 minutes and you get to break 12 bottles And 6 ceramics. It was plenty of you go slow And break 1 at a time but you can buy extra breakables if need be. And there are tires that you can bang on if you run out of breakables. There are a plethora of weapons to use to destroy the breakables (shovels, bat, crowbar, mallets, pipe wrench, etc). My friend chose an easy room to start as there were a few of us that have not done this before. We did the "plan a birthday party for Winnie the Pooh" rated a 7/10 on the difficulty scale. The employees were informative, patient while we asked many questions, were super helpful and friendly. We were able to get a handful of clues going through the 3 rooms and still made it out with 13 minutes and 13 seconds on Friday the 13th which we all thought was super cool. So much fun, great group activity, highly recommend this location and would definitely return!

I have only ever participated in two escape rooms, and both were with MindTrap. Because I don't really have a point of comparison, it is difficult for me to attempt to rank MindTrap among the escape room milieu. If my experience here is any indicator, though, a high bar of expectation has been set. Gold Rush and Excalibur are the two rooms my parties completed. Both are completely immersive with regard to their respective themes, factoring in four of the five physical senses (we elected not to taste anything). The puzzles are varied and (by my standards) reasonably challenging. Light and sound are amazingly incorporated not only into the themes but the puzzles as well. Even the communication methods provided for interactive assistance are clever and well-performed. These two rooms are hosted in separate locations: one in Temecula, the other in Murrieta. Each location is clean and inviting, and the staff members are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. I look forward to whatever my third escape room choice may be and am already giving consideration to it being one of MindTrap's other offerings. read more

I'll say right off that this is my first experience and therefore can't qualify as an expert, and have nothing gauge it against. My only complaint would be how small the environment was, being locked in a tiny room in the dark isn't something I'd like to do often. Our host Alina was great, she made sure all questions were answered, and I suspect she may have been the one who provided clues through the lone drain pipe in the cabin. I honestly cannot imagine going here on a date night. I felt like an idiot. Our whole group couldn't even begin the process of escaping without the directions given when it was noticed we were all standing around dumbfounded, the Gold Rush adventure was what was our theme and I think it was rated 6 out of 10. I was the reason we chose that one, others wanted to try the 9 out of 10 which would have been embarrassing. All and all it was fun and what I'd have thought was expensive at $40 a person seems fair considering the price to eat at McDonald's now. Others in my party have already begun discussing their next adventure so I'd say it was a success. read more

Just finished playing Gold Rush and this was my 131st escape room! As a Florida escape room owner and enthusiast, I can't praise this experience enough for allowing us to check out a location we would probably never be able to play and support, otherwise. James was incredibly friendly and welcoming as it was our first virtual experience. His briefing was very thorough and the setup for the game is very easy to follow and interact with throughout the duration of the game! Story-wise, One-Eyed Bill (our in-room character guide) added so much to the immersion of the story with his character driven remarks! This room also has a great balance of lock and tech that all felt appropriate to the environment and progression of the game. Overall, this experience is one-of-a-kind and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that has access to internet during these trivial times. It allows for an escape from reality as you dive deep into the level of immersion that this venue creates even virtually! Thanks MindTrap, we will be back to play Excalibur soon!! read more

Rooms: Gold Rush and Conspiracy Hints: Unlimited by request We absolutely loved both rooms at MindTrap! They are must-do rooms. Gold Rush has the most immersive scenery, props, and tech I've seen outside of the Hollywood area. It is a high quality room with really fun moments that quite literally had us jumping up and down in excitement. Conspiracy has a progressive story style that I fell in love with. It is exhilarating (not scary at all, but rather a fast paced story that is easy to get immersed in) and has solid puzzles. If you enjoy conspiracy theories of any kind, you'll get a kick out of the different elements. Both rooms had plenty of ah-ha moments. Behind that, the customer service is incredible. Nathan and his family are warm, friendly, and passionate. They were extremely flexible for our group and provided the perfect couple of hints right when we needed them. This family has created a truly unique and enjoyable experience! read more

My group and I had an AMAZING time. The staff are SUPER friendly and they have a fun warm-up puzzle box for beginners that they offer to you in the front office area. Our group did the Gold Rush room and I would DEFINITELY suggest this room for beginners OR experienced players. The contraptions were awesome, the puzzles were super fun, the surprise towards the end was so amazing that we wanted to see it again, the aesthetic is really well put together... I could just rant and rave about this place non stop. We are SUPER stoked to go back soon and do the Conspiracy room!! 5 stars WELL EARNED! read more

Well deserved five star experience. If you are a first time player, I highly recommend that you use the clues they offer so you can experience as much as possible. The designs are clever, and at times advanced, so don't be surprised if you get a little stuck. We've played almost 50 escape rooms and we had liads if fun here. We used the clues when we got stuck and our game master gave us just the right amount of help. Super fun for family, date night or company team building. Not a franchise, but a caring, family owned business, and it shows in everything they do. read more

I had two of my great nephews for a few days and could not think of anything different for them to do until I did an activity search on google. This came up. I met the nicest staff, James and Lazy-Eye Sally(?). My nephews and I had the best time ever! I would recommend doing this as a family outing or just a few friends trying something new. We were a group of 8 that were meeting weekly and for our 6th meeting we got to finally meet in person! This was our first ever escape room and we all worked together to make it through! We were challenged, mezmorized and in awe. We each used our individual strengths to solve clues and make it out! The puzzles were challenging, the rooms beyond authentic and our host Kandace made sure we kept moving along and were comfortable throughout the entire experience! We had so much fun beta testing and solving the Conspiracy adventure at MindTrap Escape Room. This was our very first escape room and my family (mom 6? Myself 42 and kids 10 & 13) loved it. My daughter was a little hesitant not understanding what it was, but she did great as did all the family. Looks like we have found a new hobby!! I am what some would call an "escape enthusiast" and can never say enough about the escape rooms that Mindtrap produces. They are incredible high quality immersive games that are perfect for brand new players and even experienced ones. Their games are top notch. Arguably some of the best in Southern California. Gosh darn it MindTrap... you have utterly spoiled me. The puzzles, immersion and unique themes... I have loved every room I've done through this company! Me and my friends have done a few of the MindTrap escape rooms and we all agreed that they are extremely fun! Honestly one of our favorite places to go. This was such a fun experience! You can tell they put a lot of thought into the puzzles and the stories of each room. We did night walker and taken and both rooms were really immersive and had fun surprises. Having unlimited hints also made it more beginner friendly. It was cool how the puzzles were nonlinear so if you got stuck on one puzzle you can work on another. Overall great experience. read more

We did the outdoor escape room! We had 17 adults and they easily separated us into two groups and had the second group start about 15 minutes after us making it easy for us to end around the same time. They were great and super helpful and the outdoor adventure was so fun! it was better I expected and all of us really enjoyed it - you should definitely give the outdoor escape room a try! read more

Was an excellent time. Our game master Sabrina was wonderful and helpful. The theming and experience was great. We appreciate that they were open late on the weekend, much as that must not be so fun for the employees. We work nights so it can be difficult to go do things so we really appreciate it. Def recommended and will probably do more soon. read more

We played the taken room today and it was a lot of fun. Definitely a very atmospheric game. The puzzles were well designed. We finished in a nice amount of time and only had to ask for two hens. my husband I took two of our grandkids, ages 11 and 16, to the Excalibur Escape Room. we all had such a good time! the puzzles were well thought out and took brain power to solve. I have to say our grandkids did much better at solving a majority of the puzzles. We would highly recommend MindTrap for both adults and older kids. read more
