We are two for two when it comes to enjoying MindTrap escape rooms! My fiancé, my parents, and I tried out the Excalibur escape at MindTrap's Murrieta location earlier this year, and we really enjoyed it! For that reason, we decided to go with them again the next time we were looking for an escape room for a large group. This time, we selected the 40 Thieves escape at their Temecula location for our group of eight. You can secure the room with two tickets, but we bought six tickets in advance because we knew we would at least have that many. We added the last two right before our start time of 2:30pm day-of. Then we read and signed the waivers on our phones. As before, it was super easy and can be done ahead of time or when you get to the location. Just keep your start time in mind when you're heading over, there may be people waiting to escape after you!! Our group had varying levels of escape room experience, with three people who had never been to one before, three people who had been once previously, and two people who had been to several. We were fortunate enough to have Kadence as our game master, and she was super sweet! Great at her job, and great at making us feel welcome (and not dumb at all lol). We did have to ask for a few hints, and I noticed that we did get a little extra time added on at the end so that we'd be able to finish. Super sweet of her to let us finish!! Kadence told us the 40 Thieves escape is currently MindTrap's most difficult, as it has the most puzzles to solve. They suggest 6 players for this one, but can fit up to 10. I'd say 8 was fun for most of the escape, but the room with the final puzzle definitely had "too many cooks in the kitchen" energy. There was a nice mix of puzzle types so it seemed like everyone had their chance to figure something out. We finished up at the end by taking a group photo with props we liked, thanks to Kadence again for being our photographer! Love this fun keepsake from the experience. My family loves MindTrap and we will continue to book escapes with them until we've done all of them! I'm hoping we can try to do two escapes a year from now on. read more

Our group did the zombie room. It was so fun and more scary than I thought it would be. The clues were really good and we were able to figure out the room with 20 mins to spare! Really good room for a larger group (we had 8 ppl) as there's a quite a few things to figure out. Highly recommend and Charlotte was a fantastic game master. We were greeted by a fantastic employee that got us prepped and ready for the room. They also let the room do the story telling which added to the experience! I cannot spoil too much but I highly recommend this room! There are plenty if surprises and the flow is excellent. The puzzles also make you feel good about yourself. My 8 year old daughter had her birthday party at Mind Trap Murrieta this weekend. From start to finish the staff at this location were super friendly and accommodating. The party room was large enough for all 8 kids plus their parent without feeling cramped. The facilities were clean and had everything we needed. This was our group's third time going, but my first review. First of all, I really appreciate MindTrap's customer service. I messed up my order checking out (totally my fault). I called once I realized the issue (around 6pm at night), and they fixed it for me that very night. Excellent customer service! As for the rooms, these 3 rooms (zombie room, conspiracy room, 40 Thieves) were so much fun. High production value compared to other rooms I tried. Feels like you're in a movie! I love that there are multiple puzzles going on at the same time, and they are not all the same "kind," so even after doing 3 rooms, I didn't feel like any puzzle concept was just lazily copied from another room. There is always something for everyone to do. The experience and clues involve all your senses and appeal to different strengths in your group. The gamemasters also do a good job with nudges as needed. There is plenty of content to keep you busy and it is always so much fun! Can't wait to try another room! read more

My group had 6 people, and it was all of ours first escape room experience. We had fun. It definitely makes you work as a team. We did the zombie virus nightwalker challenge, and I think we were expecting more zombie interaction but that's ok because the time limit makes your adrenalin rush just the same.
