My husband and I decided to try out the Conspiracy room at MindTrap in Temecula for a date night, and I'm so glad we did! It was my first escape room experience, his second after many years. I was blown away by the experience! Our guide, Dante, was friendly and informative. The room itself and the gameplay exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Conspiracy for a date night if you like solving puzzles together! It was a challenge, but we were successful. Can't wait to go back and try another room!

Wow that 40 thieves room is something else! As escape room enthusiasts, my fam and I drove out to Temecula for this room. We were greeted by a fantastic employee that got us prepped and ready for the room. They also let the room do the story telling which added to the experience! I cannot spoil too much but I highly recommend this room! There are plenty if surprises and the flow is excellent. The puzzles also make you feel good about yourself. The designers of the room know their tech and game theory.

Our group did the zombie room. It was so fun and more scary than I thought it would be. The clues were really good and we were able to figure out the room with 20 mins to spare! Really good room for a larger group (we had 8 ppl) as there's a quite a few things to figure out. Highly recommend and Charlotte was a fantastic game master. They made the experience very smooth, fun and memorable.

This was our group's third time going, but my first review. First of all, I really appreciate MindTrap's customer service. I messed up my order checking out (totally my fault). I called once I realized the issue (around 6pm at night), and they fixed it for me that very night. Excellent customer service! As for the rooms, these 3 rooms (zombie room, conspiracy room, 40 Thieves) were so much fun. High production value compared to other rooms I tried. Feels like you're in a movie! I love that there are multiple puzzles going on at the same time, and they are not all the same "kind," so even after doing 3 rooms, I didn't feel like any puzzle concept was just lazily copied from another room. There is always something for everyone to do. The experience and clues involve all your senses and appeal to different strengths in your group. The gamemasters also do a good job with nudges as needed. There is plenty of content to keep you busy and it is always so much fun! Can't wait to try another room!

Evan was our game master and he did a great job! I liked that he didn't jump in to give us hints unless we were really really struggling. We did 40 thrives which was great! The room was really detailed and had so many puzzles which makes you feel your getting your money's worth! Iv been to about 4 other companies and this one has to be my favorite one so far! read more

First time and definitely won't be our last. Hubs and I brought out 9 and 10yr old and everyone was able to participate on clues. Our 10yr old had been before with her friends (different company and/or game) and she said this was her favorite. The room itself was beautiful and special effects were fun. Our safari guide/host interacted just enough to keep the game moving along but yet didn't feel we had been there for the 70min. Super fun as a family that has kept us talking about it hours later. This is for the cal oaks location....Caitlin was such a good and welcoming host. We did Excalibur with my 10$12 yr old boys and escaped with 1 min 11 sec left (in other words it's kid friendly and solvable with kids). We've done 5-6 other rooms. This was my 4th escape room (at 4 different places) and this was definitely the best. We did 40 Thieves and it was awesome. The setting was so immersive and much more elaborate and detailed than all the others I've been to. We were able to beat the room just in time with a little bit of help from the host. First time my fiancé and I have done an outdoor escape room. This was beyond amazing!. Spent the weekend in temecula for our 10 year anniversary.. decided to surprise him with this since he's a huge fan of escape rooms. Let me tell you.. this def exceeded our expectations. Very creative and different. 10/10. Love how you can interact with the locals especially since we are not from the area. Our Instructor, MaKaylee was phenomenal today at Mindtrap escape room. We were there to celebrate a 30th birthday and was a great decision. Chose "Gold Rush" 6 out 10 difficulty level & let me tell you, do not let that fool you. Was challenging, we had so much fun and are definitely looking forward to going back. Wow! Finding the front door is even a mystery (If you aren't paying attention, you will miss it)! When you walk in there are a few benches for everyone that sit back and relax while the instructor goes over your future adventure. There are few mystery boxes that you will be given to try to solve - don't think too hard as the answers are written write on the box. Have an issue giving up your cell phone for an hour to a stranger? Leave it in the car as they will NOT allow you to take a cell phone into the room with you. They have a box for everyone to put their cell phone in for safe keeping. Next, you will adventure down a hall to watch a video of your upcoming adventure and what to look out for. The Temecula location as two rooms - Gold Rush and Conspiracy Theory. Gold Rush is easier than Conspiracy Theory. I suggest if you go with a bigger team that you go in with a plan otherwise it will get discombobulated very quickly. Listen to others as well as even though you think it might sound crazy or off track, you just never know. You have 60 mins to solve all of the clues to escape the room - be careful as the time goes by FAST!!! We truly enjoyed our time and will be venturing back again. read more

I came here 2 years ago with my daughter and her friends. The girls really enjoyed themselves. That is why I thought it would be a good idea to bring my son and his friends here for his birthday. We played the Winnie the Pooh room. It was adorably cute!! We liked the decor and puzzles throughout the game. Alina was a very helpful host and game master. Another employee (didn't get his name) was also kind and helpful. They were nice enough to give us extra time to finish the game (they must've seen that we were close). We were very happy with this room. The only advice I would give is to arrive at least an extra 20 to 30 minutes early to find a parking spot (you also have to sign waivers prior to the game). Now, a quickie review for: "GOLD RUSH" MAIN TAKEAWAYS: - Avatar One Eyed Bill is a brilliant addition to remote play version of "Gold Rush", actually augmenting the game's value by giving us some comic relief that even the original can't offer. - Superb production value; realistic looking wooden cabin, complete with (faux) window! This is a given, but a nicely built room with attention to details is always a plus. - Mostly gen 1 puzzles, and they fared very well in a remote game setting. The challenges made sense with Jack's day to day routine, propelling the story forward naturally. - Mindtrap developed and implemented their own easy to use, web based inventory system for their virtual games, and it's nearly perfect--just missing a timer. A 9.9 point effort! RECOMMENDATIONS: - Difficulty rating: With Mattster's team of 3, quite easy. - Best team size: 2-3 players for most, up to 4-5 if all beginners. - Best audience: Fun for everybody. **This is a review for their virtual escape room Gold Rush** I had heard of MindTrap from so many escape room enthusiasts and it was on my list of to-dos. Little did I know my first experience with them would be my very first virtual escape room! I admit that despite all the great reviews, I still had some reservations. How would you be able to solve any of the puzzles without being able to touch, poke, prod, or satisfy any of your weirdest hunches? MindTrap put all those fears to rest with their excellent translation of their Gold Rush game and deserves their sterling reputation. I enjoyed it so much so that even when businesses re-open, I would definitely consider doing this option if offered again. Some of the things I enjoyed: 1) Since you play on Zoom, I was able to play with friends from all over the country. After the game, they generously let us stay on the Zoom call so we could talk about the game but it also allowed us to catch up with one another. 2) Our game master Nathan was an EXCELLENT improviser and was extremely fun to play with for the hour. I was a little worried that the game host would lead us too much but he made his character appropriately clueless and never gave us any hints we didn't ask for or do anything we didn't ask him to do so when a lock opened, it really felt like we opened it. I also thought I'd be lost not having all the items there with me but they have this cool inventory system that worked really well. 3) The room itself was wholly appropriate to a virtual game and I didn't feel like I was missing out on too much. There were some cool special effects that I'm sure look better in person but the image on our Zoom call was very clear and so was the audio. The puzzles were also very fun and not like ones I've done before. 4) You get to do an escape room in your pajamas!!!! Highly recommend this experience to anyone missing the thrill of an escape room with friends that may not be able to do it in person. I had a lot of laughs and my brain feels like it got a nice workout. read more

We did the 40 Thieves room tonight with 4 people. It was immersive & well decorated. We enjoyed the non-linear puzzles & Dani nudged us in the right direction a couple of times, which helped us realize we needed more information to solve the puzzle. The only downside was it was dimly lit, which was part of the ambiance & totally in character with the story. However, it was challenging for the middle-aged eyes among us. We struggled a bit to identify colors & felt like there were some other clues we couldn't discern with the dim light. Overall, we would highly recommend and look forward to doing the other rooms at Mind Trap escape rooms. read more

Really fun escape rooms and the hosts are fun/great! Did Gold Rush and Conspiracy Theory and both were entertaining. We are more escape room rookies but both were fun, and the hosts will gently guide you as needed. A bit more challenging to do with 2 people but still fun! Highly recommend. read more

This is my favorite escape room by far and I've done 30+ already! The staffs, Sabrina and Riley, were very nice and friendly. We did the 40 thieves and it's such a great room. Played 40 Thieves! It was really, REALLY fun but very brain stimulating. Played with two others, so three players total. It was definitely challenging, but it was well done. Definitely had those moments of "GOD PLEASE HELP US" and they'd grace us with hints that would have us bonking our heads. 10000/10 recommend! Such a fun immersive game! The owners are really sweet and put lots of love and thought into their games. We did the gold rush room and the puzzles were very well put together and cohesive. I've been meaning to make a trip out to Temecula just to visit this escape room company that I've heard so much about and it was definitely so worth the drive. I'm somewhere around 50-ish escape rooms now and Mindtrap's establishment is one of the best I've been to date. Staff: Super friendly, super chill. The Game Masters were super attentive during our entire game and were even before/afterwards. This place definitely hires some of the best/friendliest staff. It's also rare for a place to hire GM's who are so knowledgeable about other escape rooms but it felt like every worker we've met at MindTrap knew so much about escape rooms in the area. Their pricing structure is also super fair for getting any-sized private group into the adventures. They scale their prices pretty well for larger groups and it doesn't seem to cost an arm + leg just for a 2-party group. Now for the rooms: Gold Rush: This is definitely the better of the two rooms at MindTrap. It's family-friendly, uniquely-themed (I would never have imaged a Western-styled escape room to work so well), and all their props and effects are on-point. The room is rated as Easy and I agree. It's definitely doable with a small group of friends or just as a couple. If you're unsure of which of the two rooms to book, I would say go with Gold Rush despite the low difficulty factor, you'll enjoy the room regardless and it's a "blast." Conspiracy: I wouldn't recommend booking the Conspiracy. The room is rated as Hard, but it wasn't actually Hard because of the puzzles themselves. Rather the awkwardness of the room structure, puzzle flow, and obscure clues made this room difficult. Government cover-ups are also a common escape room theme that is over-used. We got out with plenty of time to spare but this room didn't feel fun. We were so glad to have done the Gold Rush room to make up for it. read more

Established in 2017.

Nathan, Emma, and their 2 children played their first Escape Room while on vacation in Europe the Summer of 2016, and have been hooked ever since. They love how playing together as a family allows them to communicate with each other and work as a team. It is a great way to get away from phones, computers, and televisions and just enjoy spending time together. This is the reason why MindTrap Escape Room was created. Nathan and Emma wanted to share this experience with other families in Temecula and surrounding neighborhoods.

My biggest grip with escape rooms is when it's all the same sort of puzzles. But with this one? There was such a good mix ranging from riddles, to numbers, and some physical puzzles and everything in between You can also choose to add some jump scares if you would like and I definitely recommend doing it! Parking was easy and convenient. They recommend getting there 15 minutes before your start time to fill out the waiver, watch the safety video, and put on the safety gear. You don't want to eat into your scheduled rage time. They also have escape rooms and paint rooms in addition to the rage room. Staff was friendly and helpful. The safety gear included helmet with a visor, gloves, overalls. You can use your phone to take videos and photos, and hook up to the speaker so you can play your own music. The basic package is 20 minutes and you get to break 12 bottles And 6 ceramics. It was plenty of you go slow And break 1 at a time but you can buy extra breakables if need be. And there are tires that you can bang on if you run out of breakables. There are a plethora of weapons to use to destroy the breakables (shovels, bat, crowbar, mallets, pipe wrench, etc). The playground has their rules and regulation posted on the gates. The restrooms are just outside of the play area, so very convenient. There is nice green grass in some areas and some picnic tables and stationary benches. I believe on of the rules is that you cannot set up canopy's, but I did see people set up a couple. I don't know if they have someone police the area if people are abiding by the rules. It wasn't a bother to anyone but I'm sure there is a reason for having that rule. The play area is nicely padded. The play equipment is nicely spread out where you could really view your littles as they run free with your close eye on them. There are different areas with equipment that is age appropriate. For sure I would return. Plenty of parking, it is clean and the grandkids and I love it here!

I have only ever participated in two escape rooms, and both were with MindTrap. Because I don't really have a point of comparison, it is difficult for me to attempt to rank MindTrap among the escape room milieu. If my experience here is any indicator, though, a high bar of expectation has been set. Gold Rush and Excalibur are the two rooms my parties completed. Both are completely immersive with regard to their respective themes, factoring in four of the five physical senses (we elected not to taste anything). The puzzles are varied and (by my standards) reasonably challenging. Light and sound are amazingly incorporated not only into the themes but the puzzles as well. Even the communication methods provided for interactive assistance are clever and well-performed. These two rooms are hosted in separate locations: one in Temecula, the other in Murrieta. Each location is clean and inviting, and the staff members are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. I look forward to whatever my third escape room choice may be and am already giving consideration to it being one of MindTrap's other offerings. read more

I'll say right off that this is my first experience and therefore can't qualify as an expert, and have nothing gauge it against. My only complaint would be how small the environment was, being locked in a tiny room in the dark isn't something I'd like to do often. Our host Alina was great, she made sure all questions were answered, and I suspect she may have been the one who provided clues through the lone drain pipe in the cabin. I honestly cannot imagine going here on a date night. I felt like an idiot. Our whole group couldn't even begin the process of escaping without the directions given when it was noticed we were all standing around dumbfounded, the Gold Rush adventure was what was our theme and I think it was rated 6 out of 10. I was the reason we chose that one, others wanted to try the 9 out of 10 which would have been embarrassing. All and all it was fun and what I'd have thought was expensive at $40 a person seems fair considering the price to eat at McDonald's now. Others in my party have already begun discussing their next adventure so I'd say it was a success. read more

Just finished playing Gold Rush and this was my 131st escape room! As a Florida escape room owner and enthusiast, I can't praise this experience enough for allowing us to check out a location we would probably never be able to play and support, otherwise. James was incredibly friendly and welcoming as it was our first virtual experience. His briefing was very thorough and the setup for the game is very easy to follow and interact with throughout the duration of the game! Story-wise, One-Eyed Bill (our in-room character guide) added so much to the immersion of the story with his character driven remarks! This room also has a great balance of lock and tech that all felt appropriate to the environment and progression of the game. Overall, this experience is one-of-a-kind and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that has access to internet during these trivial times. It allows for an escape from reality as you dive deep into the level of immersion that this venue creates even virtually! Thanks MindTrap, we will be back to play Excalibur soon!! read more

Rooms: Gold Rush and Conspiracy Hints: Unlimited by request We absolutely loved both rooms at MindTrap! They are must-do rooms. Gold Rush has the most immersive scenery, props, and tech I've seen outside of the Hollywood area. It is a high quality room with really fun moments that quite literally had us jumping up and down in excitement. Conspiracy has a progressive story style that I fell in love with. It is exhilarating (not scary at all, but rather a fast paced story that is easy to get immersed in) and has solid puzzles. If you enjoy conspiracy theories of any kind, you'll get a kick out of the different elements. Both rooms had plenty of ah-ha moments. Behind that, the customer service is incredible. Nathan and his family are warm, friendly, and passionate. They were extremely flexible for our group and provided the perfect couple of hints right when we needed them. Our group did the Gold Rush room and I would DEFINITELY suggest this room for beginners OR experienced players. The contraptions were awesome, the puzzles were super fun, the surprise towards the end was so amazing that we wanted to see it again, the aesthetic is really well put together... Well deserved five star experience. If you are a first time player, I highly recommend that you use the clues they offer so you can experience as much as possible. The designs are clever, and at times advanced, so don't be surprised if you get a little stuck. We've played almost 50 escape rooms and we had liads if fun here. We used the clues when we got stuck and our game master gave us just the right amount of help. Super fun for family, date night or company team building. I had two of my great nephews for a few days and could not think of anything different for them to do until I did an activity search on google. This came up. I met the nicest staff, James and Lazy-Eye Sally(?). My nephews and I had the best time ever! I would recommend doing this as a family outing or just a few friends trying something new. We were a group of 8 that were meeting weekly and for our 6th meeting we got to finally meet in person! This was our first ever escape room and we all worked together to make it through! This was such a fun experience! You can tell they put a lot of thought into the puzzles and the stories of each room. We did night walker and taken and both rooms were really immersive and had fun surprises. Having unlimited hints also made it more beginner friendly. We had 17 adults and they easily separated us into two groups and had the second group start about 15 minutes after us making it easy for us to end around the same time. Was an excellent time. Our game master Sabrina was wonderful and helpful. The theming and experience was great. We appreciate that they were open late on the weekend, much as that must not be so fun for the employees. We work nights so it can be difficult to go do things so we really appreciate it.
