The good: The playground here is huge, fun and spacious. The entire space is enclosed by a gate so it feels safe for your kids to roam around. From the playground you get a view of the pickleball court and the roller hockey rink. There are lots of covered overhangs for the picnic areas and also for the playground. There are benches around the splash pad area. I really liked the treasure hunt aspect of the playground where there were symbols around the playground you could look for after spinning an arrow that landed on an item you could look for. There was plenty of parking. There's also no dirt or tanbark so your kids can keep much cleaner. The bad: Four of the five stick things with metal chains where kids could stand was missing. I was impressed with the amenities at this park (multiple areas for various sports as well as a "splash pad" for little kids), but this review is only for the dog park. A bit hard to find (follow the path up to the right near the homes), and not well-maintained (poo everywhere, grass was dry, and the water fountain didn't work), but it was not crowded and there are separate sides for large and small dogs. The big-dog side was fairly large but lacked benches or much shade. Even in October, it was hot! Overall, Cali is from this area and I love taking her to familiar spots (Redhawk Dog Park is her favorite, but is closed Wednesdays until 1 pm for maintenance), so we will be back! read more

Poop bags were provided and there's a dog height drinking fountain for the pups. Six trees looking relatively fresh so in a few years there should be more shade available. My son and I love this park! We went this week in the afternoon and had so much fun! The thing I like the most about it is that there is a fence surrounding that keeps my son safe (he likes to run as far and fast as he can and this helps me supervise him easier!). Also, the playground is excellent! Lots of equipment to run and play on, for all ages of kids. The playground is clean and the grass is well tended. There are also covered picnic tables and benches to make it more comfortable for all. I'm excited to see the splash pad in the summer! read more

We were in town for a wedding looking for an easy (& cheap) place to let our kids cool off before the festivities. I'm so glad that we drove by this park the night before. It's fantastic! The splash pad next to a playground was a perfect way to help our kids cool down while also burning some energy off. It was crowded with kids but not to a point where it was overcrowded. My sons had so much fun running around with other kids laughing & splashing around. I just wish we had more time for them to play. I will say, however, I wish there were more benches/trees around. Most parents were all huddled on the ground in a corner under trees to stay cool. It didn't feel uncomfortably crammed, but with the frequency of other families coming in, I knew that soon enough it would be. This park is one I wish more cities had. Especially back in the San Fernando Valley where we're from. It was clean, inviting, spacious, and offered so many different experiences for kids/families. If we ever find ourselves back in Temecula I can easily see us coming back here. My son already asked if we could have his birthday party at this park. We came specifically to play pickleball and the courts here are awesome! They have 4 dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines, nets, and lights. There is also a tennis court with PB lines and ability to convert with temp nets. We came on a Sunday and all 4 courts were full, so we started on the tennis court. The people are very friendly and a young couple invited us to play with them (despite the fact that we're absolute beginners!) and it was great fun. PB is all the craze and we understood that the courts would probably be full, so we were happy to have been able to play on a busy weekend. The park is beautiful, with two large playgrounds and a fantastic water/splash pad. There is lots of parking, shade and restrooms, and the whole area is gated. We look forward to returning to this fabulous park with our grandkids...and to play lots more pickleball! read more

Temecula has some terrific parks with outstanding amenities. At the top of the list is Margarita Park. To quote Uncle Rico, "if I could only go back in time". He proved that was not possible so we enjoy these fantastic parks through the eyes of our grandchildren. Margarita Park is a fantastic place to let the kids cool off. They have one of the nicest splash pads we have ever seen. So many water features that are not only fun but also very unique. Within the fenced splash pad is also a large playground with everything to keep the kids occupied and happy. The park has a pool, roller rink, dog park, pickleball courts, restrooms, shade, sports fields, etc. Margarita Park is a well planned community park and would stand out in any community. Our first visit will not be our last. With 7 grandkids we will be returning and enjoying the amenities this well planned out park has to offer. read more

Two large structures for play. Fully enclosed including grassy areas for picnics. Bathrooms nearby and currently the splash pad area is "fenced" off for moderated play. Community park workers are kind and informative. Most of the kids during the weekday and during school hours were kind and social distancing. Not all were wearing masks (May 2021) but it's big enough and wasn't that busy where my littles couldn't keep their distance and stay apart from others. California mandate did allow for no mask with vaccination so it's very possible adults were already in the clear. Definitely would frequent if I were in the area. read more

The dog park here is fantastic! There are two sections- one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Each section is large enough to throw a frisbee or ball a long way for dogs to be able to run. We visited this park three times in three days -- what does that tell you?! Yes, Margarita Community Park is amazing. First of all, the splash pad. It's like a mini water park! There are so many different and fun aspects to it, and it's great for all ages. The playground is separated into a little kids area and a big kid area. The little kid play structure is truly for little kids. I sometimes visit parks where they have a slightly shorter version of their big-kid playground, and it's pretty much just as anxiety-inducing to see very young kids play on it. But this playground? The little slides are little, the steps are short and everything is made for very young kids. The big-kid area has lots of fun slides, swings, rope structures, balancing things and forts. One of the best aspects of this park is that the whole playground area is fenced. It gives you one less thing to worry about. read more

This was our first trip to the splash pad park on 8/12/21. We live 40 minutes away. I googled the park, searched Yelp, and also called the number for hours beforehand. They were all conflicting. The number we called said they were open 9a-1p and 3p-6p. We arrived before 12:30p to find that the splash pad was off. The sign at the gate said the hours were 3:15p-6:15p. A little frustrated we decided to use the playground and had our lunch picnic. We waited all day until 3:15p for the splash pad. It was a long hot day but the kids loved it. Please update your information so it is current everywhere. I'd hate for others to be doing what we did and miss out. I would have rated 5 stars but the hours of operation information is conflicting everywhere. read more

I have been to all the parks in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Murrieta, and Temecula. This is the best one I have found. Canyon Hills Sports Park in Lake Elsinore would be my 2nd favorite. This park has a HUGE playground for big kids and a HUGE playground for ages 2-5 compared to other parks . The splash pad is super creative with a lot of low water tables and containers for the little ones to access. Bring your own cup for the kids to use with the water in the lower tables and containers. There is even a water feature piano the kids can dance on! Swingsets are galore with a set for big and a separate set for little ones. The play areas are both set on forgiving foam ground, so many kids run barefoot. FENCED in so you don't have to worry about kids wandering. Bring a chair to sit in the shade if you want to be comfortable, as very few benches and tables have shade. Bathroom is right next to the park. I will be bringing my kids here once a week this summer for sure!!! read more

Wonderful clean park with two beautiful playgrounds and a splashpad. The splashpad at the moment is open from 10-1 and 2-5. It closes at one for staff to take lunch but the playgrounds remain open. The whole playground is gated so that's good and the Splashpad is fenced at the moment so that staff can keep track # of people inside at a time. It does close for ten minutes each hour so that it can be sanitized. read more

On a late Saturday afternoon, we wanted to run our dog before the long road trip home. We found this on google maps and it was empty when we got there. It was all fenced in, a big amount of space, all grass and barely any dirt. My dog loved it and all the little bunnies running around for her to chase. Two parks, one for larger breeds and the other for smaller breeds - but still a lot of space for play! It's directly by a neighborhood community area, and quiet. There is a water fountain for you and your dog, and I didn't notice any careless droppings anywhere either. read more

We drove almost two hours to be able to visit this amazing splash park that our friends had been raving about. Note to self: if you plan on visiting over the summer, be sure to make sure they are not holding a "summer program" here on the day you plan on visiting. In this case, Tuesdays are now owned by the City of Temecula and this splash park is not free to the public those days. I have plenty of issues with this place, and will try to address them all. My daughter was so excited about this place, she is only 2 1/2, and once we got there we were told we wouldn't be able to go inside due to a summer program run by the city, since we did not sign up we were unable to go inside. My husband was livid and let them know we drove 2 hours to visit this place. Luckily, they were nice enough to let us and our friends go inside, but we had to sign up. Not a big deal. I guess there is a snack included with the program, which we weren't interested anyway. I was really turned off, though, when a man and his young son were turned away by the city people because they "didn't have enough snack for him". I seriously don't think the father or the son were there for the snack, I know we weren't. Another man was turned away because he had brought his lawn chair and apparently those aren't allowed either. Also not allowed are cups, it was brought to my attention that they aren't allowed because the water is recycled and kids tend to take the water in the cups into the playground where the water cannot be recycled. Okay, but try explaining that to my 2 1/2 year old that wants to play with her cup in the splash pad area. Too many nosy adults there that police and tell all the kids what is not allowed to do, parents that follow the city council there, or whatever. Please, mind your own business, unless another child is hurting or bothering your own child. I saw no harm in a kid running up the slide when no one else wanted to use it. They are kids and are trying to have fun. I do appreciate them allowing my family inside to enjoy the splash pad despite the city run program, but we will not be returning. read more
