After my mom had a melt down about my plan to DIY flowers for my wedding, we hired Mimosa to create ceremony arrangements and handle the "personals" (bouquets, boutonnieres, etc.) for the big day. Instead of making me feel cheap for needing only a few specific items, rather than an entire wedding's worth of flowers from them, Lydia was SO NICE as she drafted up three different quotes and mock ups for our relatively small order while I tried to mitigate the family drama/budget. She made me feel like "there are no small orders, only small flowers," when it came to customer service. No other florist I spoke to offered the same flexibility and a la carte options and pricing. And when the big day came, her arrangement truly delivered and took our event to a level that I never would have been able to achieve! Lilli was the florist for our wedding in September and she did a fabulous job! She was great about listening to the effect we wanted to create and turning that into a great design concept. In addition, her pricing was very reasonable compared to many of the other florists we talked to. The first time we met, she took us to the flower district to see some of the flowers that we had discussed over the phone. This was so fun for my husband and I because we knew next to nothing about flowers. This made us feel part of the design process and more confident that we knew we were going to like the finished product. For our wedding, Lilli created a beautiful chuppah, centerpieces, and flowers for the bridal party. The chuppah was unique, absolutely beautiful, and photographed so well - as did all the other flowers. Mimosa was a relief in the middle of disaster. I live in Houston and was supposed to be in my friend's wedding which was on Labor Day Weekend-but the hurricane prevented that. I wanted to send my friend a token of love in my absence and Mimosa delivered. I gave a basic description of the wedding colors and flowers. I don't think I was on the phone for more than 5 mins placing my order, but I never felt rushed. I used Mimosa Floral for my wedding and can't recommend them enough. I live in London (and got married in Brooklyn), so I needed to send Lilli photos and trust the team would understand what we wanted. Close to the event, I was able to fly to NY for an in person meeting. They had an entire table set up with floral arrangement mock ups and it was exactly what I hoped for. They are a team you can trust because they have good taste and are so helpful. They day of the wedding, Lilli even delivered my bouquet and hair decoration to my hotel room herself so I could have them for the photos. I was especially impressed by the birch branch chuppah they created, and the way they decorated the staircase at the venue with greenery and flowers. My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Lilli for our wedding. Lilli came highly recommended by our event planner and after meeting with her, we decided we didn't have to meet with any other florists, we had found ours. Lilli took care of our ceremony and reception flowers and even decked out the dance floor with 200' of bistro lighting! We met with Lillli just once. But in that meeting, Lilli was able to learn about who we were, what we wanted and showed us a bit of her work. She was open and interested in all the pictures we had brought and sent links to. We liked her prices, but loved her flexible in handling all of our wants, quirks and eventual last minute changes. Lilli even let me incorporate some art projects in the wedding décor. Our planning wasn't finalized until just a few days before the wedding. Despite the time crunch, no detail was over looked and everything was absolutely beautiful. Lilli was at the venue morning of setting everything up, and was even kind enough to pin my boutonniere in the midst of her set up. Everyone loved the décor and were happy to take flowers home, whether they were allowed or not! In line with other reviews, I did knock just a bit off of Lilli's "Responsiveness" rating. My wife and I trusted Lilli after our first and only meeting and were fine not meeting again, or having a demo. Our final proposal was not set until just a few days before the wedding. Some may not be comfortable with these types of arrangements. We were - we placed all of our wedding décor trust in Lilli and are VERY happy we did. If you are considering working with Lilli, do it. They were one of the first vendors we booked when we started wedding planning late 2018 - they were our number one choice not only because of their gorgeous designs, but also their location and eco-friendly practices. We were delighted at how thorough and flexible their floral options were, and that pricing was available on the website. From our first consultation through every change we had to make due to the quarantine, Sally was responsive, clear, kind, creative and fantastic. When we suggested boutonnieres for our moms, Sally offered these fantastic brass cuff corsages because not all summer dresses are sturdy enough to hold up a boutonniere. It was one of many instances of Mimosa hearing what we wanted, offering expertise, coming up with better solutions than I ever could, and being flexible to ultimately do whatever we wanted. Mimosa's style really resonated with me, so I set up a consultation for wedding flowers with Lilli. After a 45 minute conversation about my vision, she seemed excited and said she would provide me with a proposal later that day. A week passed and I received no proposal, so i followed up. Her project manager said that they were busy with weddings and would get to my proposal the following week. Well, they never provided me with a proposal, or any further update on their delay. I mean, how hard is it to write down all of the interesting ideas you just spoke about, and provide pricing? I was ready to spend thousands of dollars with Mimosa, I can't deal with a vendor who basically wants me to beg them for my business. So I have looked elsewhere-- and found another floral designer who is pleased to have my business, does fantastic work and is a third of the price. I was fortunate enough to meet Lilli, owner of Mimosa Floral Design Studio, at the Wedding Crashers event held at my venue in March of this year. Upon meeting Lilli, her genuine excitement, knowledge of flowers, and willingness to work with brides on a budget, immediately put me at ease! Although most of my favorite flowers were out of season for my July 13th, 2012 wedding, Lilli gave a variety of complimentary suggestions, all of which I loved! I had a very tight budget and specific vision in mind, and Lilli was able to work within my budget and made my vision come to life. I wanted a subtle nod to my husband's and mine favorite director, Tim Burton, and wanted very specific gray and white stripped table runners. Lilli went to a fabric store and brought me back a plethora of options and made the most beautiful runners to compliment the flower arrangements she made. Although i was a bride on a budget, the floral arrangements and table runners looked like I didn't have a budget. She was able to make my floral arrangements, bouquets, and boutineers look seamless and cohesive with my overall wedding aesthetic. I really appreciated how Lilli listened to what I wanted and she went above and beyond to deliver! Our experience with Lilli and her team was incredible from start to finish. Their level of talent was unbelievable. We wanted tree installation for our ceremony and what they created for us was absolutely stunning. Arrangement arrived on time and came with a nice handwritten card, plus they texted the recipient to make sure she was home to receive it. But the arrangement itself was lackluster compared to what was pictured on their site. We ordered the bunch of tulips and they arrived slightly wilted, all one color, with very little greenery, and with ten blooms rather than the full dozen advertised. I'm hoping they perk up now that they've been trimmed and the water has been changed. I'd try another local shop before I went back again. read more

Lily was awesome. The flowers were beautiful and made such an impact on our overall day. The only reason I can't give Mimosa five stars (sorry!) is because I think Lily may have over extended herself during the high wedding season (we got married at the end of September). I would have to follow up numerous times on emails with questions and changes. And she would always make the changes that I requested and would be able to suggest alternates so in the end it was fine. But with working and going to school and planning a wedding, it's hard to have to follow up numerous times. But I would still recommend Mimosa. Loved it. read more

Besides marrying my husband, the flowers were by far my most favorite part of my wedding. Lillian and her team did such an incredible job, it's hard to explain in a single review! Lillian was also always calm, cool and collected and I was just blown away by what she created. She was very knowledgable, flexible, and honest about the work; she was also never worried and was always confident. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted our flowers to look like (like most brides, I'm sure) and a limited budget (like most brides, I'm sure.) Lillian took all of this this seriously, listened to what we wanted, contributed her very valuable ideas, and delivered something far beyond my expectations. The bouquets and centerpieces were so so so so beautiful and even better than what I had envisioned- everyone at the wedding commented at least once about how special and beautiful Lillian's flowers were (and this is really saying something, considering we got married at the Botanical Gardens!!). Lillian's work stood out, left an impression on everyone, and just couldn't have made me happier. And then... there was the flower crown. I am still dreaming of this crown. It was perfect, exactly what I had asked for- it was beautiful and colorful and so special. And- can I be honest?- it was the thing that made me feel the most beautiful on my wedding day. I want to wear one every day- but at the very least, I plan to commission Lillian to make me a flower crown for any and all events in the near future. Lilli was amazing to work with! She and I had a great conversation during my consultation which included Pinterest pictures and other inspiration. Lilli made helpful suggestions and showed me options for vases (including the amazing mercury glass hobnail vases I ended up going with). Her studio is bright and inviting--a very comfortable space to plan and talk. Lilli even took on a huge garland project to hang across the windows of my venue, the Brooklyn Winery. The owner, was quite unprofessional and sought to admonish me for getting her attention by asking a stranger to knock on the door. There was no parking and not risking getting a ticket, you'd think she'd be appreciative of customer making a purchase. Maybe it was because she had already sterotyped the black male and her unbeknownst to her, I am a Dr. I disike unprofessional Caucasians who moved to the African American dominated community and have no knowlegde of how to cater to various clientelle. Luckily she was also the most affordable of the florists he had on his referral list, yet the one he couldn't stop recommending! And they were absolutely right! Lilli and the Mimosa Floral Design team was a huge pleasure to work with - they not only executed my crazy vision of having nightmarket-themed wedding with a cherry blossom festival atmosphere, they brought in a ton of wonderful creative ideas and accents that our guests couldn't stop commenting on the entire night! Lilli really transformed our warehouse venue into a new world - bringing in tall cherry blossoms (from where I don't know, considering we were still basically in a long winter at the beginning of April), votives, lanterns, bamboo poles, linens that perfectly matched my wedding colors, a manzanita tree, etc to give off a lovely Spring festival feel. While doing all of this she was super conscious of our limited budget and worked with us to cut out things that wouldn't have as much impact while adding in other accents that would be more affordable and still be awe-inducing. Lilli was also incredibly accommodating of all of our last minute requests (i.e. - bringing in a tree that we could use as a wishing tree, which she made more pretty that I was evening imagining), and giving us design advice on last minute personal accents to the tables I wanted to add. Throughout this whole process she was incredibly friendly (one of the most friendly NY vendors we worked with), creative, and energetic - approaching our wedding design with so much enthusiasm and positive energy that it really made us feel comfortable in her hands.
