I surprised my girlfriend at work for our anniversary by getting flowers delivered to her. This was way better than the 1-800-FLOWERS crap that I've previously ordered and boy am I glad that I went with Elan Flowers. I will never, ever go for 1-800-FLOWERS ever again. The ordering process was super easy, the pricing was justified for the amount of care that went into the flowers. I called at 10 AM in the morning, the lady who picked up the phone couldn't have been more helpful, walked me through the options for flowers as I am clueless when it comes to this stuff and really assisted with the whole process, questions and what I should expect to pay. When I received a call later today from my girlfriend saying that she was amazed by the flowers and that pretty much everyone at work was saying something about the flowers, I knew I chose the right place. I will order from here again!! The flowers lived for more than a week and a half as well. read more

The flowers are stunning... my issue is the delivery fees... I sent flowers to cheer a friend up. I spent $60 in delivery fees on a $125 arrangement, that an incremental 50% over the cost of the flowers. They had tried delivering and the recipient/super were not available when they were delivering, to take back to the shop and re-deliver, I was charged another $40. That seems incredibly excessive. Either make sure that the recipient is there or there will be an additional charge or don't charge. The called the recipient once they were at the location at 11:15am, not ahead, which of course she was at work and the super happened to be out right at that time. I'm super disappointed not to order again from Elan, I just can't afford to spend $60 on delivery fees. read more

I'm a bit surprised to see some of the poor reviews on this page as I was pretty excited to leave a really positive review after my fantastic experience with Elan flowers over this past month. I needed something custom for an engagement and while I thought their arrangements were unique and beautiful, I didn't really see anything with the color scheme that worked with my setup. I sent an email explaining what I was looking for and Rebecca got right back to me and was eager to work with me to create something special for my event. She asked me what I was looking for and after some discussion, she went to her creative team and came up with a color scheme and some flower selections that they thought would work well. So I trusted them to execute and they absolutely came through. The flowers were delivered well in advance the day of the engagement and even though they left the arrangement with the doorman as instructed, the delivery guy still gave me a call to let me know which I thought was a nice touch. The flowers were beautiful and they stayed nice and fresh through Saturday's heat. They smell amazing and we still have them up on the bedside table because why wouldn't you want to smell flowers as you're falling asleep? UPDATE: A few hours after I posted my review below, the owner of Elan Florist gave us a full refund (no questions asked), called my friend who had made the arrangements on behalf of us to personally apologize to her, and sent another "sweet orange" arrangement (exactly like the one on the website) and a handwritten apology card (posted below). I'm updating my review because we really appreciate the apology and gesture. Although it was unfortunate that this happened to us, I recognize from their sincere response that this was an anomalous occurrence and this company really values their customers and takes pride in their craft! Previous review: My friends and I spent $225 on the "Sweet Orange" arrangement for a funeral service for a dear friend. We paid $25 for delivery and were VERY SPECIFIC about our request to have the flowers be delivered by 2pm as the service started at 3pm. (I'm sure you see where this is going...) At around 2:15pm we called and we were told that they were running late because the subway lines were closed. We called several times after that because there was still no sign of them. Finally at around 2:45pm they said they were just going to take an Uber. Not sure why they didn't do that in the first place. I'm sure our $25 covered the entire Uber ride. To our utter disappointment, the flowers did NOT arrive until 3:15pm. By this point, all of the guests were seated and the funeral was underway. No one really got to see the flowers. The family members didn't even know that we had sent them because they arrived so late. We understand there were some subway line closures that made it difficult for Elan Florist to get to our location, but they should have taken that into account when planning the delivery, especially considering they charged us $25, which they didn't refund. I also wasn't that impressed with the arrangement. Compared to the sample arrangement on the website, they used way too much bright green filler, which overpowered the light orange and white toned blossoms of the piece. Bottom line is, it's unacceptable to deliver 1 hour and 15 mins late to a funeral, of all places! read more

I don't use flower delivery service that much. But this store is so amazing that I feel I have to write a review. I ordered "Dusty White" from their Signature Collection. The flowers themselves are extraordinary. But the part that surprised me was their service. Here is the story... I got a call in the morning from the messenger saying that he could deliver the flower because he couldn't get in touch with the recipient who works at a bigger building which requires security check. And the doorman told the messenger that they couldn't take flower into their package room because of their policy. I told the messenger to try to go up to their office and I didn't hear back from him since. So I assumed everything was OK. I got another call later from Marilyn from the store saying they still can not get a hold of the recipient. Obviously the office phone is not working for some reason. Marilyn was so kind and she told me that she was able to find recipient's email online and sent her an email asking for her cellphone already. I was super impressed that they've already tried to solve the problem before they reached out to me. Also if they still can not get in touch with the recipient, she will redeliver the flower to my office instead. Finally they managed to deliver the flowers again 2 hours later when the recipient got back to them with her cell number. I rarely have this kind of experience from any stores in NYC. Definitely recommend this store to anyone who needs flower services in NYC! read more

The work is GORGEOUS. There were some communication challenges when ordering flowers for my wedding and some day-of errors. However, they fixed the problems and were very apologetic. Elan flowers? More like Elan Leaves. Buy these flowers if you're interested in getting ripped off! Spent $350 on flowers and only received $200 worth. They charged me $150 for leaves I have in my backyard. The photos on their websites are deceiving. The bouquets contain half the number of flowers advertised. I tried getting my money back, since I had to pay for entirely new bouquets which contained flowers, but to no avail. I am very disappointed and will never purchase flowers from them again. Don't get me wrong, the leaves are very green. If you love expensive leaves, you must shop at elan flowers!! read more

I needed a very special gift to for a very special birthday for someone who loves blood red Calla Lilies. I ordered the potted blood red Calla Lily plant which they had in front of the store when I came in. I gave them at least a week and half before pick by me and I prepaid. A few hours before pick I get the call telling me they don't have a nice one to give me. I came into the store looked at the replacement they offered, which was nowhere near as nice as the one I had seen when I placed the order. I stated that the blood red one was requested and picked particularly specially for this individual receiving the gift. I asked for another potted plant option and they offered Hydrangeas Plant (not comparable in elegance at all) and then showed me a blood red orchid plant and expected me to pay additional money if I wanted that plant despite their screw up. Ridiculously poor customer service when they messed up at the last minute, the day of pick up, and then had the nerve to expect me to pay more for their mess up. I explained that I had no backup plan and expected the plant for tonight's event. Still they had no care whatsoever for the inconvenience they caused me and after they had completely ruined the day, had the nerve to wish me a good day after just providing me with a refund. No genuine apologies for the terrible position they had put me in at all and I was left to scramble for another florist last minute, luckily I did find a florist who was great and helpful, Langdon Florists worked with me and helped with rescuing the day. I received flowers for a restaurant opening and got so many compliments for the arrangements. They also lasted much longer than typical flower arrangements which was a pleasant surprise. This florist has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They never return calls, they are incredibly slow and they never do what they say they are going to do. I've experienced this type of service for months with my monthly orchid refill and I have given them the benefit of the doubt for months now and finally after my orchid pot sat in my valet for literally weeks (even after calling 3 or 4 times asking where my orchid was) they never even picked up the pot. They don't value consistent clients and don't understand how to get it together to function like a valued neighborhood business. The other employees have absolutely no idea what's going on either. Everyone seems so clueless when answering the phone, even with consistent clients. They make you feel completely non existent. I've NEVER written a review about anything in my life, but I was so appalled by this service I had to let others know. Do not under any circumstances give business to this florist! They also charged my credit card for way more than the agreed amount that I was paying for an orchid....I could go on but you get the point..... read more
