Before I start my review, I should preface that most of my reviews on Yelp are related to going out to bars, cheap eats, fine dining, etc. so take what I have to say about a flower shop with that taken into consideration. That's not to say I don't frequent flower shops. I do. I pick up plants for myself and pick up flowers for dates, my mom, my grandma, etc. It's just that it's not in the same frequency as saying going out to eat and therefore am not as knowledgeable. That being said, I picked up some roses for a birthday. I was fairly satisfied with my purchase. The flowers were fresh and smelled nice. There was a good selection of plants and flowers. The service was quick and friendly. The place itself has a very mom and pop establishment vibe to it. As I noted at the beginning, I don't have as much experience buying flowers as I do say a good slice of pizza so I don't have as much experience in terms of the basis for comparison, but if I were in the area, I would definitely come back to get flowers for another occasion. read more

I do not normally post reviews but I felt I had to. In reading all the negative reviews I have to strongly disagree. I have been there with family and friends shopping for flowers, plants and herbs for quite some time now. I have never experienced any problems or issues with the store, employees or management. What I have seen is disrespectful, entitled and downright belligerent customers yell, swear and make everyone around them uncomfortable. The staff kept their composure and tried to de-escalate the situation. If you want beautiful flowers, plants that will survive and herbs that are fresh. This is your go to place. I've looked everywhere from large hardware chain stores like Loew's or HD, to other cult favorites in Brooklyn but none come close to plant health and fair price. They have a range of price points from young plants to lovely long mature grown plants, they have the nicest collection of hanging plants I've seen anywhere. Of note, they have a huge array of cactuses, from small ones at $5 to huge ones $60-100, which if you're familiar with cactuses, is a great deal!!! Looks like they also make custom arrangements. I'm one of those pandemic spawned plant parents, so I've been scouring easily accessible parts of the city for plant shops. Very happy to have found Nelly's located right off the G train. They have a large variety from outdoor to indoor plants, and rare plants. Tons of plant pots and accessories, and other plant needs as well. They even have $5 plants and also lots of under $10 options. What I really like is the variety they offer, which imo is wider than some of the others in the surrounding area. I'd have to say price wise, some are great, some are fair, and some are on the high side. So, if price is a high concern, you'd have to know your average market price. All in all, I highly recommend Nelly's for some plant shopping! read more

I have been to Nelly's a few times and I have enjoyed their selection. The prices are really reasonable too. I shop on the cheaper side so I opt for the less full/smaller plants (young string of pearls) that are cheaper instead of the larger, more established plants. Not sure if they are sales or just prices to sell but they have had great prices lately. I got a gorgeous spider plant, in a hanging basket, with 6+ babies for $15. I got some flowers for my mom from Nelly's about a month ago. They were really friendly to deal with, the prices were pretty reasonable and my arrangement was ready when I went to pick it up. be aware - lots of fungus gnats on their plants! Their prices are not as good as everyone is posting and reviewing!! in fact they are quite expensive compare to other plant shops. They used to be reasonably priced but as soon as COVID hit and we had nothing but time on our hands (along with other things) They took this time to become overpriced!! Is it a coincidence that everyone is now becoming aware of PLANTS and almost everything is RARE their prices just bumped up? Small plant store with a good variety and some rare ones! Some of their plants aren't in the best shape but there aren't really any other plant shops in the area. You can find a good deal here if you know what you're looking for. They are very responsive on social media so you can ask away! They can also hold plants for you if you contact them as long as you send them the dinero. read more

Took the G train here and thought I would surely get lost looking for the flower shop. I WAS WRONG!!! It's right across (thank goodness!!! praise the lord!) The first impression that I had of this place (just judging from the front) was that it was pretty big but there were a lot of things going on. There were so many flowers that it was overwhelming. Even when I stepped into the shop there was whole lot of flowers/plants and there was one side that had different sizes and shapes of holder for the plants. Later on, I found out that the reason that Nelly's flower shop was so packed with different types of plants and flowers (you may think a big mess but ...) was that they are a flower shop supplier for many other flower shops. So all the plants and flowers that I saw were CHEAP! and beautiful! Once these flowers are shipped to the many other flower places, the prices goes up (retail and all) . I went in to get the terrain plant ( look it up- it's so cute~) They had many that were already pre-made. There were many plants and I decided that I wanted to mix and match. The shop owners were there and were really helpful. They told me how they usually don't customized the terrains and are usually pre-made by them but since it was my first time they would for me and also that it wasn't a problem for them (how nice is that?!) I chose my plant, which was a succulent plant in a round glass holder. The owner let me pick the theme, I picked the more natural theme. A few rocks were placed in it as well as moss, a cute deer picked by yours truly and two cute little mushrooms. I loved the end result and the best part!! The price...guess how much! 30? - WRONG! 25? - wrong again! ...ok ok...it was only 15$, it's a great price. I would come here again. Why go to any other florists when Nelly's flower shop is a direct supplier which means cheap and their flower quality are on point. Plus side is that the owners are all so friendly and helpful. They would explain anything when asked. They can even tell you what's best for your house /room in order to care for your plant. ALSO! they had a cute little rabbit and a sleepy fat cat. Love this shop, the people there, etc. BUT they need to do a massive fumigation and have someone who's monitoring them. Brought home too many infested plants, including a huge expensive Monstera that's infested my other plants. (The Monstera was a replacement from another infested philodendron i picked up there) Great example, this plant I snapped a pic of covered in mealy bugs for sale. just really careless and dangerous, I've lost many plants over time just buy buying a few here. Super pissed off about the money and hours I've wasted trying to remedy, but figure everyone should have a heads up. Check your plants, be very, very careful. read more

Extremely happy with this company. My girlfriend works nearby, and I called the day before her birthday to order a mid-sized bouquet. I spoke with an individual on the phone who I believe said her name is Katina, and is a florist there. I didn't have anything particular in mind, and the florist offered to put something together based on my price point. The florist went into just enough detail about what she was planning on doing to make me comfortable, but not too much to overwhelm me with the details. She even offered to text me when it was delivered. Anyway, I asked for delivery the following morning between 10 and 11, and, sure enough, at about 10:30 or so I get a text from the florist confirming delivery, and attaching a picture of the bouquet. It was REALLY nice! I'm not sure what specific types were in it, but they looked really fancy -- not just filler stuff like you'd see at a bodega. It was something that would look great at a fancy restaurant or hotel. And I was really happy with the price too; I've ordered similar-sized fancy bouquets in the past, and they're usually more expensive. Oh, and shortly after, I get a similar text from my girlfriend saying how beautiful the flowers are! Bottom line: asking the florist to put together her choice of flowers worked out great. Great family owned store in the Williamsburg area. The employees are always very helpful and knowledgeable about the plants and their care. They have a wide selection of plants with a lot of variety -- they seem to get new plants often which makes for a really great selection. The prices are much better than most other stores in NYC, and the plants are always healthy and in good condition. The best part, though, is their wide array of $5 plants! Super affordable and great options, unlike other stores where the cheaper plants are half dead. They have a decent selection of cute pots, but they are a bit more expensive than what you could find at other stores -- especially their terra cotta pots, which are definitely marked up. They do carry materials (nails, hooks) to hang pots, which is nice. They also have a good selection of terrariums and potted plants which are nice for gifts. I recommend Nelly's to everyone I know - the prices and health of their plants are unmatched. read more

Nelly's Flower Shop is great! I moved to Williamsburg in 2004 and while the neighborhood has changed, I love that this place has stayed the same. I'm by no means a regular- mostly only stop in once or twice a year to buy some live plants as they have a good, affordable selection. But have also picked up a few gifts. They're great for when you need some organic plant food, or a 5' tall bamboo support, and conveniently located by the JMZ&G trains. Their counter is small and occasionally gets a little congested when they're busy, however it's worth mentioning the service is always super efficient and friendly. I have a wedding coming up, and am very much looking forward to supporting this shop with my floral needs. For years I was enchanted by the outside... this slice of green heaven in the middle of all that concrete. It made me happy just knowing it was there.
