Went to Mimi's cafe this morning, server was excessively slow took nearly 13 minutes before we even saw her to get our drinks. It took another 20 plus minutes before we even saw our food arrive. My son ordered eggs over easy and got this plate of way over cooked eggs. My scrambled eggs came cold and slightly under cooked wife ordered quiche florintine that was slightly undercooked. When we brought this up to management they did not seem to be bothered nor where they really surprised to hear about the poor quality of food that was sent out to customers. Had a coupon for buy one get one FREE with two beverages. What a deal! Turkey dinner was great! Tasty and enough food we took a meal home. Added the best French onion soup by adding a cup for only $2.69. Great service, Nice music and never a wait. Went back again for same deal but no longer serve Madeleines and they were out of bread. Place is showing wear and was empty on a Friday night. Hope they stay in business. read more

Service was absolutely horrible. We waited 10 minutes before being seated, even though the restaurant was empty. My husband stuck his head in the kitchen area only to be told "get out" by the server. Then when the server seated us she picked up menus and napkins set them on a table, walked away and then points to the table and says here's your table. Everytime that I have tried to give Mimi's on Bell Road a second and third chance to redeem themselves, I always end up disappointed! They do not know how to properly staff the restaurant, especially on a Sunday at 10am, there is always a long wait for a table when there are lots of open tables. Their only saving grace is the food is good. Over the past 2 years, you would think that the manager would understand this as they could make a larger profit to get more people in the door to eat instead of people going other places when told there is a 40 minute wait... when they have open tables. Attached are photos of one of the rooms when they are telling people coming in the door that there is a 40 minute wait...ridiculous. So maybe we made a mistake going in on a Sunday. Started off with what was supposed to be a 15-20 minute wait. Was more like 35-40. The really annoying part was when there were several open and cleaned tables sitting where we could see them, however the host was busy cleaning and arranging the menus for about 5 minutes. When she was finally done, then we got seated. We ordered after waiting for a decent while for the server. Then the next wait began. Bottom line we hadn't gotten food until an hour and 15 minutes after walking in. The food was meh... My omelette was ok, it was the smoked salmon omelette. But the portion seemed very small. About 8 tiny diced onions on top, sprinkled with half a dozen capers and a non existent sauce. Can't remember if it was supposed to be cream cheese or sour cream, because there wasn't any. I also order tomato slices instead of potatoes for the healthy option. Three anemic slices on top of severely wilted lettuce. The kids orders were supposed to come with a Cesar salad side, it was the right lettuce lacking almost any dressing. The kids burger was pretty good but the Mac and cheese was tasteless. How does one mess up Mac and cheese? My wife's turkey and hummus sandwich was dry and tasteless but at least came with almost a pound of spinach on it. Weird. Can not in good faith recommend anything other than the muffin that came with my meal. Oh and got charged 3.29 for the included lemonade on the kids meal. read more

I normally would rank this higher because the honey bran muffins are the crown jewel of my visits out West, but I had to take the rating down due to the experience I had dealing with food allergies. The server was wonderful and professional, and when told of my extreme allergy to raw onion she said she was right on it. However half way through my salad, my heart stopped when I saw what I thought to be purple cabbage in the dish and it was instead a red onion. I immediately sprinted to my car to retrieve my medicine while they brought me out a new salad, but had this been someone who needed an epi-pen or had throat closures it could've been a disaster. Normally in the restaurant world when you serve something that jeopardizes their health, you comp the item that was made incorrectly, but there was just sort of an apology and smile so it makes me a little nervous for anyone trying to stay away from peanuts, gluten, soy, etc... Luckily I was only sick for a couple hours, but let's face it, food allergies aren't something that can be taken lightly these days. If you DON'T suffer from severe allergic reactions, I'm an eternal optimist and think this is still a great place to meet with groups due to their extensive menu and --should I say it again? Top notch service from Beverly (ask for her by name) on Sunday morning. She was attentive, courteous and knew the menu well. I had the pain perdu and my partner had the cinnamon brioche which was fresh and prepared with care. The brioche was tasty with the right amount of cinnamon and sugar that melts right in your mouth and the pain perdu was delicious (love the hint orange). Went here last Sunday. The host staff (one guy & one girl) were not friendly at all. Not even smile as a greeting. We put our name in & were told it'd be about a 20/30 min wait. We went outside & watched multiple groups of people be sat before us that came in after us. We were patient & figured there must be a reason. After at least 40 min we finally questioned why we hadn't been seated yet & all they said was - "Oh, we can seat you now." I don't believe we were even put on the list to begin with. This did not start out well. I showed up for breakfast only to find I had to cool my heels in the parking lot until they opened at 7. And they actually opened at 7:04. And even then they really were not ready to serve customers. I got my coffee fairly quick, then my orange juice, then my bread (muffin) and finally about 7:30 my breakfast entree. The waitress even apologized for the excessive wait time. The food itself was ok. I had chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, fruit and a muffin. The muffin was applesauce something and was really good and huge. The gravy was sort of thin. None of the flavors stood out. Being a little more expensive than some other breakfast spots I expected more taste. That and being late/slow cost it a half star and in this case I chose to round down. read more

The hostess lacked a personality. She took forever to greet us and then when we were sat she just set the menus down and left. No pleasant greeting. The waitress took forever to come to our table, she asks how we are but doesn't wait for a response, and then tells us there is no coffee. Which is disappointing for a breakfast restaurant. She then tells us the kitchen is backed up and will take 40 minutes to get out food. She drops our drinks at the table as if they are poison in her hands. This is my first Mimi's experience. The wait staff is wonderful. The French Onion Soup was fine, no complaints, not exceptional, but few are. The dinner itself was stepping back to yesterday. When I told the wait staff that the Brussels sprouts were not eatable she w as happy to get me fresh or exchange for another veritable. The potato gratin was 1960-80 in texture and taste. The stake needed more seasoning, but I prefer less then to much, a thin stake is very hard to cook medium rare, but this was cooked perfectly. The sauce I shall not comment on there is so little that can be said. Would I come back, yes. On one dish is not enough to say if Mimi's is average or above the rest. I will try them again. Ordered the turkey feast for thanksgiving but received ham by mistake. Spoke to David and he apologized and said come in and pick up the turkey. We got there and decided to stay for breakfast and David said the turkey is all packed up and ready just pick it up when you leave. So we eat and pay for breakfast then we see David to get the turkey and he demands the ham back so he can serve it to somebody else. David didn't say to bring back the ham when we spoke on the phone earlier. She was right...the text on the menu is already too small to read easily. Mimi ' needs to consider a reformat of the menu. They ought to make it on 11x17 double side and fold for a 4 page menu. Came here for lunch and I was blown away by the quality of the food, the inside decor (reminds me of Paris) and the service. Their salads are beyond fresh, large and the red wine vinaigrette is delicious! Their bread is so soft, fresh and delicious along with their muffins and carrot muffins. Absolutely delicious! It is all well placed and made to look humble yet fancy. It is all beyond amazing and for reasonable prices as well! The service was oh so kind, our waitress Georgia was incredibly kind, caring, and always made sure our drinks were filled to the top (so considerate for this harsh summer heat). We hardly had to wait for our food, and I must say, I was not expecting such outstanding service, quality and reasonable prices. I will definitely be coming back! read more

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We ordered two egg meals and the eggs were completely cold when brought out to our kids. I ordered a French dip with caramel ones onions and provolone and neither was on the sandwich which was completely cold and the bottom bread had sat there so long it disintegrated. We ordered soup which never came. It took approximately 75 minutes to even get our food. Drinks were empty. Not one meal was correct. We only went here tonight to use a coupon from our kid's fundraiser packet and were told only at the end that they decided to stop accepting coupons of any kind. Came here for a weekend brunch as we didn't feel like waiting for all of eternity at The Place (which is usually the case). As soon we walked in, we treated ourselves to a free helping of coffee cake and coffee in the waiting area. This was a certainly a welcoming surprise. Restaurant was clean and homey - like a dining room from a typical Colonial style home or cottage. Wait time was only about one minute, which is pretty damn good for a brunch place on a Sunday morning. We ordered two entress - a croissant sandwich with egg, bacon, and tomato and a veggie omelette. The croissant was light and fluffy with a nice flaky outside. Egg in the sandwich was over-easy which is my favorite style of egg. I would have liked it a little more runny, but that's just a personal preference. Omelette was tasty and light without the heaviness that you find in most American breakfasts. Omelette also came with a side of potatoes which were pretty standard and a muffin with different flavors to choose from. We chose the pumpkin muffin and it was HUGE. The brown sugar crust on top was great and contrasted well with the moist, fluffy inside. This muffin was the best thing about the breakfast. I wouldn't go far out of the way to come here (as is the case with most chains) but since this walkable from where I live, I'd definitely come back. read more

I hadn't been to Mimi's in so long and was very eager to come back. Atmosphere is the same, decor and sweet charm. There was a wait, for lunch time on a Monday. The food was still pretty great. I got a spice muffin which was wonderful and a soup and salad. I got a yummy house salad and French onion soup! Our server was nice, but we felt kinda like the odd ones out, coming between classes.
