I'm in town on a business trip and just wanted a quick manicure. The woman doing my nails was too rough and cut into live skin. She initially blamed me and said it was my fault because I jumped. But, the reason I jumped was because she cut me! I bled quite a bit. She did apologize several times afterwards, but she did not carefully clean the cut and left strands of cotton in it. I walked in to Mimi's without an appointment 2 days before my wedding, and they did a great job with my mani and pedi. I'll be honest: I don't have a lot of experience with nail salons, but of the few I have tried, Mimi's is *hands down* the best. Some things that set Mimi's apart: 1.) It is really cozy and aesthetically pleasing inside. They definitely took care to make their salon a place you'll enjoy going to--unlike other salons with cheap-looking stations, harsh lighting, and awful ventilation. The spa pedicure chairs are very nice massage chairs, too! :) 2.) Mimi and the other staff are very friendly, attentive, skilled, and take pride in their work. - While I was there last, a young woman was unhappy with the polish on her fingernails. I don't think it was a botched job, she just didn't like the color once it was on her. The woman didn't make a big deal about it, but Mimi saw to it that the woman's nails were repainted, saying, "I want you to be happy!" 3.) You certainly don't feel like you are on an assembly line at Mimi's, but they don't waste your time, either. They've found a good balance. 4.) All the tools and equipment seem very clean (so important!) and up-to-date. I'll be going back, and if someone asks for a nail salon recommendation, I will certainly refer them to Mimi's! read more

It takes a lot for me to write a negative review, but after one mani/pedi service at this nail salon, I felt inspired! I am being generous by giving Mimi's 2 Stars. I once had my nails done at a Walmart nail salon, and I much preferred that experience. I will not be going back here ever for any reason and I would not recommend it to anyone; I would rather shop around used car lots all day and deal with their silly sales tactics. Pros: 1. available immediately for walk-ins 2. quality (if you don't look too closely) of mani/pedi looks descent on day completed - maybe 3-3.5 of 5 stars. 3. had HGTV playing on the TV 4. man who started my pedicure was polite, quiet, and accommodating (although he seemed a little depressed) Cons: 1. short-term sale-zy mindset: at least 6 attempts to up-sell to Shellac and French, instead of caring about what I, the customer, actually want, or whether a customer will ever come back for another service 2. attitude when you don't want an up-sell service (jeez - they already got 3 up-sells out of me - when will it end!?) 3. mumbling and pointing throughout service (not a friendly or polite vibe) 4. overpriced for Shellac mani/pedi combo 5. failure to inform you of what you get with your service (especially important when you're upsold) - no one offered to help me use the massage chair even though it was included in my service (which I didn't realize until payment) 6. rush all customers in to begin service the moment anyone walks through the door, like they're scared you'll turn around and walk back out without buying something; also limits customer's ability to decide what they really want and increases chances that they can sell you on what they want to sell you since you haven't had time to think it over 7. generally speaking, over-promising and under-delivering 8. failure to mention or point to prices when up-selling 9. overall mood of salon was weird and off-putting... neither the employees nor the customers seemed to be very comfortable or happy, but the manager certainly seemed cheerful some of the time (*10. I can't speak about the actual hygiene of the place but I do have concerns) My experience: I didn't need anything fancy or expensive, just a quality-looking pedicure and manicure; dropped by Mimi's as a first time client as a walk-in and brought my own polish that I wanted on my fingers and toes. My nails and toes had recently been done at a good place... toe polish lasted over 2 weeks before beginning to see the slightest amount of wear/chips; just wanted a polish change on my fingers and the works on my feet so I could sit back and relax. What I got: instead of a typical $35 mani/pedi, I paid over $75 plus tip by the time I walked out due to all the pushy pricey up-sells. SALES and UP-SELLS, with a side of ATTITUDE. The main lady (Mimi?) pushed and pushed some more for me to get the Shellac until I finally caved in just to get her to get off my back (no mention of price until it was time to pay); she said it was much better than regular polish, (although gave no explanation of it whatsoever) - said "no chipping for at least 2.5 weeks, sometimes 3" (I've heard from several that it's a scam, but I'll see for myself this once). So I had her get a color similar to the one I brought in, but she kept pushing me to get a French Shellac manicure instead... that's the only up-sell I didn't fall for (you'd think it would be obvious that when someone brings in their own hot pink polish to use they have no interest whatsoever in a French manicure). She did my nails Shellac while a man worked on my feet. My nails were done and dry before he even started to paint my toes and I realized he was about to use the color I brought in instead of the matching Shellac I had agreed to with the lady. Who would want two different shades of hot pink on their fingers and toes - that's just never the look I'm going for, so she had to take over for him and do the matching Shellac on my toes as well. As she's finishing up my toes I notice some bright pink Shellac on the skin of 4 of my fingers, so I ask her if she can clean it up for me and she tells me she has no method to remove it and that if I simply wash my hands a few times it will probably come off in a couple days. (If I want the look of nail polish on my skin, I can get any pre-teen girl to do that for free.) read more

Absolute worst experience in a nail salon! I came in town for a formal event and broke a nail at the airport. I needed a new set of nails anyway, so I got up early, walked from my hotel and was the second person to arrive in this salon. I was seated right away, but one nail expert did not like the way the other one was handling my nails and wanted me to wait to do it right--I succumbed to the upsell and agreed to a pedicure while I waited for her.... fatal mistake. Customers trickled in and they were all serviced before me. There was no order or organization with how the employees took customers. I was stuck with my nails destroyed and my feet in the water--- I finally raced out the door two and a half hours later paying $80 and nails that need to be redone! My guy was watching a bowl game while giving me a pedicure. When done, he disappeared. I had to ask someone else to help me roll down pant legs (wet nails on hands). Complaints: - They dont; know how to juggle their volume- I make appointments and if 3 people walk in ahead of me (literally as I am walking in the salon) they take the those poeple first. Why make the appointment? - If they make a mistake they say it is just the way your nail is or that is is too late to fix -Time consuming- I don't like sitting for an hour and a half for a mani pedi -Tracey (employee) often does her nails while she is doing a customer's nails. As a result she is wearing gloves over her foliled fingernails and can't really move her fingers well. Or she keeps running back to check that her polish is coming off taking time away from the customer. -Many girsl are too harsh and it hurts! -Main complaints - Shallac manicure lasts only days to maybe a week at best. Results very inconsistent. I really love these ladies (friendly) and it is close to the house- I wish the service and results were better. read more

I finally found a nail salon away from home that knows what they're doing!!! Went in with the girls to get 2 full sets, 2 mani and 4 pedis. The pedis were awesome. They did such cute designs on all our toes and fingers. I was so glad that they use the drill here! So many places don't and the fills and full sets suck, but not here! The lady that did our full sets was awesome, she was super fast but did it perfectly! Not too thick but nit too thin and shaped them perfectly as well! I went here about 4 times because their prices are a bit better than the salon I had been going to. But I won't return anymore. I find that they are somewhat grumpy and rude. If you get a mani and pedi, they might treat you nicer. But I only get pedis. The man that works there (I think he's the owner or related to Mimi) applied my polish last time and he did a poor job. Once before he did as well and he didn't do a good job. Plus the massage time for the deluxe was very short (I had a woman do it once and she did much longer). But what made decide not to return was an incident with my Kindle. I accidentally left it there. Remembered where I had left it. Went back. They're all smiles pretending to look (funny when I went in for my pedi they weren't that nice). It is possible that another customer took it, but I doubt it. absolutely awful. first, I call since I cold not find the place and they were not helpful at all. Then I get there, they are rude and dont bother interacting with me. She asks what kind of acrylics I want, I tell her the length I want and shape, and she does them way to short and more circular than round, which is not what I asked for. Dont seem to be good quality either, and it took her only 30 minutes- everywhere else I get acrylics it takes atleast an hour, usually more. read more

I've been coming to this nail salon for over a year now. The staff and usually welcoming and very sweet, despite how busy they might be at the time. Very accommodating. I have only had negative experiences with one particular employee. She's the youngest female to work there, has 'Love' tattooed on her forearm, and has been for probably close to a year. I usually would luck out and get someone else to do my fingers or toes, but would often hear her clients upset that she nicked them, or didn't follow the shape or colors that were requested. These things happen from time to time, but it was like every time the girl had a client in her chair, there was some type of complaint. It was my lucky, or rather unlucky, turn to be up. I picked a color and the girl went to work. She first nicked my skin from cutting my actual nail, then my cuticle, neither of which was acknowledged or apologized for by her, even though I was bleeding and said 'ouch' loudly. After she did one nail, I apologetically told her I didn't like the color and asked if we could change. She then told me it looked like the sample nail exactly and asked why 'I pick if I don't like.' I asked her to please change the color for me and she told me a few of the options I picked were 'a lot like the other one' and to 'maybe try a different color.' I found her very rude, to say the least, but shamefully, I'm shy and don't seem to have a backbone Her pedicures aren't the best, especially French tip. No matter how many times I asked her to fix certain spots, it didn't happen so I just gave up asking. The next unlucky time I had her she did better with the nails ( I went practically clear, just in case) but wasn't pleasant at all and kept pushing my hands/feet down into position. Rude! She also constantly snickers under her breath and clearly talks to others about the clients. I've never been one to make someone feel bad if I could help it (even always tip her well!), but from now on, I'll have no problem requesting someone else! I was just in town last weekend, and my sister-in-law and I wanted to have a girls day and get mani/pedi's. We went her because it was close and looked nice. Boy were we wrong. They spilled a whole bowl of soapy water on my lap. They "forgot" to charge me for taking off my shelac and then asking me to pay when my nails were wet. They made my cuticles bleed when they were trimming around my nails. They painted the wrong color on one of my toes, because I bumped it and they were trying to fix it. It was all around bad. Now, a day later, I look at my nails and realize they did not do the best job painted them either. The top of my nail is thinner because they didn't get the second coat all the way up to my cuticle. Went here after trying Bella Nails in the Flatirons Mall (They were INSANELY rude) and was warmly greeted and immediately helped! Got a mani/pedi and they took extra time to ensure it was perfect and that I was relaxed! It was a little pricey but honestly worth it with the environment and care! I'm hesitant to leave a review but want to remember that this is a place of desperation; not some place I would frequent normally. I got a mani and pedi. I waited quite a while which was no ones fault. When I finally got my pedi started I think it was with someone new so it took quite a long time. I has three people do my mani. I had told the first girl that I didn't want the nail shape to be changed. That message got lost in the third translation and the shape is changed. There was also a lot of chatter going on between the staff that seemed personal, possibly inappropriate and joking in nature. That's fine but since it was in a language I couldn't understand, it was uncomfortable. They tried to engage in it with me but it was caddy chat and I was more interested in relaxing. I was also displeased that the sterilized bag just used on the lady before me was the same bag used on me. I also got to use the UV light that someone had just out their foot in for my hands. It didn't seem very sanitary. All in all I got a good, albeit LOOONG pedi and a manicure that had three different people. The gel was ok but looking at it now it is uneven. I was there for over 2 hours. I would go back in a pinch but I wasn't a fan of the atmosphere. read more

Overall, they do a nice job. However, if you show a picture from Pinterest on what you want done on your nails, make sure that you clarify with them if it is dip, shellac, or acrylic. I showed a picture of what I wanted for my nails and they did not understand that I wanted them just like the picture and started doing something different. I tried nearly EVERY nail salon within a 15 mile radius when I first moved into the area & could spend hours telling you about my "nail nightmares". I even called the police at one salon because they were making my fingers bleed and wouldn't let me leave!!! I really loved my previous salon, but it just wasn't practical to drive 45 minutes every time I needed to get them done, then my daughter & I happened upon Mimi's and I've been a loyal customer for over 2 yrs!!! Their people are amazing... when they ask "how are you?" - they actually CARE (not normal)... the prices are fair and they don't nickel & dime you to death, but the best thing of all is the job they do. I have a very difficult time with adhesive & acrylic NOT sticking to my nail beds. I have never been to a salon in which they applied a tip or even a full set, that didn't lift or fall off at some point, but I've never experienced that problem here, even when I go MONTHS in-between visits. My nails & feet always look gorgeous, I never lose a nail or have problems with chipping, I don't pay a fortune, and I actually ENJOY going there... what more could you want?! read more

Very painful manicure. My fingers are still hurting the next day, my cuticles are swollen and covered in cuts. They are very rough with the drill, and I was gouged multiple times, significant cut and bleeding on my pinky, and the tech drove the file way too deep into the corner of my nails and was filing my skin! I had a horrible experience at this location. I called ahead of time to get the prices and when I arrived she charged me $15 more than I was originally advised. I was charged even more than the price listed on a sign in the salon. My nails were uneven, and lumpy. The paint job was horrible. I just recently located to this area and was hoping to make this my new salon however after the experience I had I will never return. Terrible nail salon! I went there for the first (and last time) yesterday. I went in to get a shellac manicure. The woman who did my nails was talking to other employees the entire time. She kept getting distracted and barely paying attention to my nails. When she was cleaning my cuticles she kept pushing up above my nail and hitting my skin super hard. It was like she didn't know what she was going. The actual paint job was awful! I had so much polish and top coat under my nail and on my skin. Parts of the shellac have been falling off just one day after. I get shellac every 2-3 weeks from other salons that do a much more professional job! Bottom line, don't waste your money here.
