On the way to a media session, my husband and I found this legendary gem....we were blown away by the quality of food and the exceptionally friendly staff. Honest to God, the best Rueben Sandwich I have ever had in my life . The Sandwich came with a side of potato salad that was perfection...savory in flavor with crisp and flavorful fries. We were so impressed we decided to take our two daughters there the following weekend for breakfast only to add to our fascination with this place. The breakfast was AMAZING! Then, we decided to take the whole fam here again for Sunday Breakfast and met the owners (didn't know they were the owners) but Barry is a legend. I am not sure what happened to this place, maybe new ownership? I'm just guessing at this point, but I went there today with my sister and my boyfriend, and it was awful from the moment we walked in. The place was completely dead, which shocked me since it's always been really busy the other times that I've come. We stood at the hostess podium for just under 10 minutes until finally somebody asked if anybody had helped us. Mind you, maybe 10 employees walked by us not to mention there's the deli counter with people who work there seeing us standing and not being helped. So finally we get seated and for some reason they take us to the complete back of the restaurant next to the door that I have to assume is where they take out trash. There was a table of what looked to be about 20 back there so it was super loud to just sit the three of us next to them. The guy that brought us the table was nice enough to get us drinks, but then we sat for another 10 minutes with employees passing us left and right again to get to where I'm assuming is the break area yeah nobody making enough eye contact to see if there's anything that we need. Then the food... The matzoh ball soup was just as delicious as I remember, but everything else was blah. My sister's omelette was just OK, and my boyfriend and I got half corn beef sandwiches and the meat was completely tasteless and overcooked and it was not hot even though we ordered it hot. I don't know if it's sat in the back for too long before it was brought to us or what the deal was, but the meat itself was rubbery and dry and tasteless. Needless to say, I will never be returning. My husband and I were on our way to picnic near my aunt's house in Solana beach. I didn't know about milton's, but he was raving about their pastries and sandwiches. So we stopped by to get a variety of pastries to bring to the picnic, they were all devoured before even getting to the main lunch foods! They have a really great delicate touch on each of their pastries. If you're in the area I definitely recommend trying this place. I have been to Milton's several times to take out food, but never dined at the restaurant. This review is for take-out only. They have a TON of options and variety, something for everyone. I love their Matzo Ball soup. They have all sorts of delicious baked goods in their bakery, from cookies to banana pudding. I have also liked their bagel and cream cheese. One time, the meat on my friend's sandwich was too fatty to eat, but most of our experiences have been positive. It's located in a busy shopping center, but I've always been able to find parking close enough to the restaurant when picking up food. The staff has always been professional and helpful. Love that they have water bowls for dogs outside! read more

This time we had Rafael waiting on us and he was absolutely spectacular! They say that how clean a restaurant is, particularly the bathrooms is the sign of how much care is taken. In that case this place is a dump. The food is very hit or miss. I can order the same sandwich on different days and have a very different result. Pleasantly surprised! We were not planning to stop by, but decided to check it out as part of our walk around the Plaza. Upon first entering the restaurant, you'll find the bakery and market straight ahead and slightly to the left. It's not super big but definitely packed with various goodies. We were greeted right away by whom I think was a manager. She was very polite and patient as we tried to decide on what to order. I kept going back and forth between the a few of their refrigerated offerings, but in the end, we went with what initially caught my eye - the tiramisu ... and I'm glad we did! For $9 and it being from a restaurant, I would say I would pay this much again for it. It's thick, plump, serves two (or maybe just one haha), and as told by the manager, made fresh and in house. You can taste the coffee and coffee liquor that makes this dessert distinctly tiramisu, you can taste the richness of the marscapone cream (which is traditionally made also with egg yolks), and you can taste the soft dusting of cocoa on top. To be honest, this is probably now one of my favorite tiramisus. Simple but done very well. Can't wait to try some of their other offerings! read more

Miltons Restaurant in Old Del Mar California is one of my favorite restaurants in North County, San Diego. I must admit, I love American cuisine, and Miltons covers my taste with a seemingly endless variety there. When I find a restaurant I love, I return, and return, and return. Miltons is that restaurant. Their Pastrami Sandwich is mouthwatering delicious as is my second favorite, the Rubin. OMG. Honestly, I should wander around the menu more, but, like I said, when I discover my favorite I generally don't stray very far. Thank you Miltons for years and years of eating delight. This was sadly a disappointment for our very hungry friends and family after a day at flower hill market. The Matzah soup was reminiscent of hospital food, the steak Caesar arrived with a more than generous pour of barbecue sauce mingling with the chewy steak and lettuce (soupy), the schnitzel that was not so schnitzely, and overall it was just not the best experience. The vibe was laid back and comfy and I can see regulars that would love visiting daily. I ordered online; it was amazing and perfect! The order was gallons of matzo ball soup, full brisket sandwiches, brisket dinners, BBQ chicken salads, the shaved brussel salad with tuna salad, sweet potato fries, cole slaw, etc. Service was perfect and the cashier helped me bring everything to my car. I've been to Milton's maybe 100 times I lived near by in Rancho Santa Fe .... I placed a to go order the guy taking the order was clearing struggling .... I had him repeat the order there were a few mistakes we fixed them over the phone ... when I picked up the order one item was missing and 2/3 of the sandwich's were made incorrectly .... I called to tell them what has happened and she acknowledged the guy might of made mistakes I told her my sandwich is inedible.... She heard everything I was saying and it was clear no refund no gift certificate was going to be give ... just an acknowledgment that it happens and a "sorry" I even tipped on the to go order never mentioned that but it was bad Buisness to not take care of me P.s. turns out the 3rd sandwich was also made incorrectly and inedible- just awful read more

What a delicious and wonderful deli. I can't say enough great things about the food we had at Milton's while we visited the area. The Reuben with both corned beef and pastrami was perfectly made, with just the right amount of Russian Dressing. The brisket sandwich comes with an au jus for dipping, and was devoured in seconds. And the matzo ball soup had an amazing broth, and fresh, tender chicken, with great noodles. I was full but kept eating because the flavors were so good.
